Oh, COVID-19, thank you, schools close down - how are working parents suppose to manage that over weeks - but is there an alternative?
AND! Ingo just came over (he was at his PC) - "turn on the news (not). Soccer games get cancelled due to the virus. What has that to do with official news???!!"
We hate soccer. (This post is NOT about football or soccer, it´s about fairness, being gentle...).
Soccer: Hooligans. Loads of police (we live more or less near the stadion and SEE that). Taxes wasted.
Police at the train station (it´s in the local online news).
We love American Football, no such nonesense.

Ingo sadly was sick, Bro had something else to do but my Mum said, "yep, I come to Braunschweig to see the game 'against' Hamburg!".
She grew up in Hamburg region. I spent many a holiday there, too.

Mum only knew soccer. There is "war" between "fans". Soccer is "war", Football is "game".
I hope the virus is under control come football-season.

I don't like any sports. My dad used to play soccer, but only for our small town and not for long. what I really HATE is the violence of the soccer fans, it's so stupid, unnecessary. It's only a game!
I'd rather read a book.
I am not interested in "hard" sports, I don't see the fun …
But sometimes I get really excited by European football … especially when playing Netherlands - Germany! LOL

Are you "Oranje" then? In soccer there is violence - here in American Football they had security for this one game WITH Oranje. After a while the security left - there is no violence bettween fans in Football :-)

As soon as they started closing schools where I am in Connecticut, US, my first thought was: "What are parents with young children who can't be left home alone supposed to do? One parent will have to stay home from work. Are they going to be fired for doing that?" MANY people do NOT have jobs where they can "telecommute" like our Government had been urging people to do in the past few weeks!
I never understood the mass fights and local vandalism that resulted after soccer (what you guys call football) matches in Europe. It's just a game, people! Here in the US, there might be isolated fights in the stands, but not all out brawls and property destruction like goes on there.

We differ soccer (white/black ball) from football (see pics, brown "Pill", as we call it)).
I have to agree with Tom Iris and more so they are a bunch of scaredy cats, I mean look at all that protective gear they wear.. you wouldn't see an Aussie footballer seen dead in all that gear :) :) :) I can tell you are really missing your mum right now Iris, it really is hard at times xox
I am the sports person in the house-my husband does not watch sports-when he was young-in his 20's-he did go to allot pro hockey games in Chicago and loved it.
I do miss watching the sports-it needed to be done to contain the virus from spreading in those huge crowds-and the players are in close contact so a good call.
here in the states as the schools close down-kids are getting their lessons on the internet now, or being home schooled-the world needs to work together to end this stay safe hugs

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt developed new rules in the ealy years of the last century. The sport shouldn't be brutal and deadly. And so it is!

I've never bothered much with soccer or American football - but I do love rugby! It is our national game and son and I like to watch it on TV.
Nice to have those memories about your mum. We need to remember the good times we had with our loved ones when they were still with us.
The virus is so scary! It is good to be home and safe, but hard to be home and safe too. What a time! I wish hamburger balls were a fix as they sounds yummy!

Can you watch American football online? I hope so! It's definitely not my thing but I remember going to many of Kevin's football games when he was in high school. Because it is what you do.

I'm sure you know from reading my blog, MY sport is basketball. HOWEVER, I love a good football game and watch the superbowl every year, even if I don't like the two teams playing. It's good that you and your mother shared that in common, dear friend. BTW, PLEASE stay safe and practice good social distancing.

Jeanie, that was an old DVD. We get the Super Bowl on TV but I am not that crazy to spend the night watching it!
