Mum: WHERE Is That (Hamburg) Ball?!
Oh, COVID-19, thank you, schools close down - how are working parents suppose to manage that over weeks - but is there an alternative?
AND! Ingo just came over (he was at his PC) - "turn on the news (not). Soccer games get cancelled due to the virus. What has that to do with official news???!!"
We hate soccer. (This post is NOT about football or soccer, it´s about fairness, being gentle...).
Soccer: Hooligans. Loads of police (we live more or less near the stadion and SEE that). Taxes wasted.
Police at the train station (it´s in the local online news).
We love American Football, no such nonesense.
I remember one time.
Ingo sadly was sick, Bro had something else to do but my Mum said, "yep, I come to Braunschweig to see the game 'against' Hamburg!".
She grew up in Hamburg region. I spent many a holiday there, too.
Hamburg and Braunschweig, oh, weeeee....
Two very strong teams!!!
Fast game!
I reckon Mum never saw the ball! LOL!
But she loved the atmosphere!
Half time break?
Braunschweig and Hamburg fans side by side, joking, enjoying the time.
Mum could speak Hamburg accent again, I fall to that within seconds, too.
Mum only knew soccer. There is "war" between "fans". Soccer is "war", Football is "game".
I hope the virus is under control come football-season.
We will go, if it is to honour my Mum.
Oh, she had some boring time, LOL.
I remember my first times (plural!!!) - I NEVER knew who had that darn ball, really (but the atmosphere was great)!
Chess on green and in fast!
And here it´s NEVER in the news (stupid soccer is, every Saturday and Sunday). Not even when Braunschweig wins the German and/or European Bowl.
Has a 4 pat. Not even that!
Can you imagine my tiny Mum in the stadion watching American Football with me?
Oh, do I miss her.
Oh, do I miss her.
Lion of the day:
To fun. To fairness.

...I've always thought that American football is the dumbest thing known to man!
No. It´s really like chess and chess is not dumb.
Nicht meine Idee von Spaß!!!. Schöne Erinnerungen von Deiner Mutter. Dir einen schönen Tag, bleib gesund. GlG, Valerie
Ach, du musst es mal versuchen - ich habe mich ewig gewehrt, weil ich dachte das ist wie Fußball - ganz anders!!! Und die Jungs sind lieb!
Ja. Ich werd Abstand halten. Hande desinfizieren etc, lass uns gesund bleiben, GlG, Iris
I don't like any sports. My dad used to play soccer, but only for our small town and not for long. what I really HATE is the violence of the soccer fans, it's so stupid, unnecessary. It's only a game!
I'd rather read a book.
I am not interested in "hard" sports, I don't see the fun …
But sometimes I get really excited by European football … especially when playing Netherlands - Germany! LOL
Think your mama was a nice woman ... cherish her memories … ♥️
I wish you a nice equinox day! Happy Spring!
A little BIG hug! 🤗
River, exactly, soccer is just dumb! Hooligans!
____
Ella :-)
Are you "Oranje" then? In soccer there is violence - here in American Football they had security for this one game WITH Oranje. After a while the security left - there is no violence bettween fans in Football :-)
Yes, my Mum was fun!
Ohhhh, equinox, yayyy, finally! To Spring, to the good half of the year!!!
A little BIG hug to you! xx
Oranje Boven, Oranje Boven
Leve de Koning en, Maxima! LOL
or even better … Hup Holland hup 😅
And it was a fun game, no fights :-)
Some security guys stayed cause they wanted to watch the game! :-)
The adrenalin rush listening to club cheers in the stadium can be exhilirating! Like a war cry!
Nooo. It´s a game cry, we have FUN! :-)
Great set of photos, and good points. As soon as they started closing schools where I am in Connecticut, US, my first thought was: "What are parents with young children who can't be left home alone supposed to do? One parent will have to stay home from work. Are they going to be fired for doing that?" MANY people do NOT have jobs where they can "telecommute" like our Government had been urging people to do in the past few weeks!
I never understood the mass fights and local vandalism that resulted after soccer (what you guys call football) matches in Europe. It's just a game, people! Here in the US, there might be isolated fights in the stands, but not all out brawls and property destruction like goes on there.
Stay healthy and safe during these covid-19 days.
Yes, my Brother has two young kids, it´s a crazy situation!
We differ soccer (white/black ball) from football (see pics, brown "Pill", as we call it)).
I have to agree with Tom Iris and more so they are a bunch of scaredy cats, I mean look at all that protective gear they wear.. you wouldn't see an Aussie footballer seen dead in all that gear :) :) :) I can tell you are really missing your mum right now Iris, it really is hard at times xox
I am the sports person in the house-my husband does not watch sports-when he was young-in his 20's-he did go to allot pro hockey games in Chicago and loved it.
I do miss watching the sports-it needed to be done to contain the virus from spreading in those huge crowds-and the players are in close contact so a good call.
here in the states as the schools close down-kids are getting their lessons on the internet now, or being home schooled-the world needs to work together to end this stay safe hugs
Oh, Grace, I agree and disagree. It is really like chess, which is an intelligent game.
Yes, I miss her... Maybe cause life is out of balance so long now! xox

Kathy, haaaa, I don´t think kids get taught via internet here! Or home-schooled, there are "rules", it´s a stand-still. Germany... :-(
Let´s talk about this in 10 years.
Wolfsburg has ice-hockey, too - I never went, though, brrrr, cold! (I imagine?)
Hugs, let´s stay safe!
Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt developed new rules in the ealy years of the last century. The sport shouldn't be brutal and deadly. And so it is!
I'm not one for sports, admittedly.
Not a fan of football at all.
I like basketball and baseball.
Have a wonderful evening, we had a nice sunny day today.
I've never bothered much with soccer or American football - but I do love rugby! It is our national game and son and I like to watch it on TV.
Nice to have those memories about your mum. We need to remember the good times we had with our loved ones when they were still with us.
The virus is so scary! It is good to be home and safe, but hard to be home and safe too. What a time! I wish hamburger balls were a fix as they sounds yummy!
I'm still trying to adjust to the new normal. :-|
How are things over there?
Stay healthy and safe, Iris. :)
Can you watch American football online? I hope so! It's definitely not my thing but I remember going to many of Kevin's football games when he was in high school. Because it is what you do.
This virus has me very freaked out. Please stay in and stay healthy and well, Iris.
Wow, a non American likes foot ball. For a rough and fast sport. I like ice hockey
Coffee is on
I'm sure you know from reading my blog, MY sport is basketball. HOWEVER, I love a good football game and watch the superbowl every year, even if I don't like the two teams playing. It's good that you and your mother shared that in common, dear friend. BTW, PLEASE stay safe and practice good social distancing.
BTW, I hope you saw I tried to catch up from Tuesday.
Ingo, Teddy was a wise man :-)
See "Night at the Museum"...
____
William, this one is fun to me.
____
Bill, I only "know" Baseball from The Simpsons and there it seems to be soooo boring!
Let´s hope for another sunny day!
____
Margaret, rugby is no sport here, but it´s great there is variety, right?
Yes, the memories of Mum are precious.
____
Yes, Erika, that virus needs a big kick in the butt!
____
dee Nambiar, things are getting crazy here, too! I try to not get near to people, otherwise it goes on for me as usual...
____
Jeanie, that was an old DVD. We get the Super Bowl on TV but I am not that crazy to spend the night watching it!
Other games from America start 08:00 pm on TV here and I do watch those :-)
Ha, try to keep distance I do. Difficult, though, as people are dumb at times...
