Last Monday (not yesterday) on the way home Ingo thought I got lost.
Again.
He was about to look for me!
Again.
Usually it was Mrs H., who sadly now is in a nursing home.
This time it was her Hubby who sped by on his bike (yes, speeding at age 85).
He stopped when he saw me and we chatted. Like "forever".
By golly. 6C!! I nearly froze. He said in the garden he goes to it was MINUS 10C!!! Can you believe that?! In March???
This darn virus must freeze to death in this, no?
I needed a tea afterwards!
But, can you believe that, chive (Schnittlauch, see title) is growing!
If we want some chive?
Guess. We talked some more about recipes.
About our backs (we both have problems).
About his wife, I knew her so well...
We stood 1 1/2 metres apart, certainly, and people passed us in centimeter range :-(
So, next day I I thought I get robbed, but no: Fresh chive!

LOL, I so had to laugh. You call Pellfartoffeln "potatoes in their jacket" - how cute is that?!
Pellkartoffeln just means you peel them. Boring language!
And I guess the chive was given to me with a wee bit of "love", too.
That tastes even better, right!

I grew chives once. Mine took two years to bloom, then died. Grr. I haven't bought any seeds since.

I like the look of your potatoes and chive dip, looks very tasty. I love potatoes in their jackets, with sour cream but unfortunately I've never found it in Spain so I make the most of it when I go to San Francisco.

Chives add such a fresh taste to things, but I haven't grown any for ages. I have planted some garlic-flavoured chives in our new garden, so am looking forward to using them later on. Love your sketches :) xx

The potato and chive salad looks and sounds delicious. I've never had any luck growing chives and would use what we call Scallions or spring onions instead.

Fresh chives and potatoes sound yummy! I used to have chives in my garden. They are so delicious in a cheese sauce.

But these are "old" potatoes, so we strip them as naked as the models!

Himself loves chives, me not so much. Wow, your elderly neighbor still getting out and about on a bicycle. Nice that you chatted with him. He must miss his wife. It's been chilly here, but not that cold! This has been a very mild Winter and an unusually early Spring. Usually we have one or two last blizzards and are buried under snow until the end of April. I love fresh chives-I need to find a spot in the ground and plant some. we have onions that my husbands grandparents brought back with them from Russia-when they were escaping the nazi's I need to remember to bring those to the lake house too-soon. they stay in the ground year round-they are similiar to shallots.

I'm glad Ingo didn't have to go searching for you, Iris. I'm still allowed to go out for essentials and do so about every 8 or 9 days. It feels so strange and everything is so different. I don't tarry to chat with anyone. I get my chores done and head home as soon as possible.

We had chives in our veggie garden at some time, but I think they died with the heat. I used them in potato salad too.

Well. His wife has had a heart attack, three strokes and suffers Alzheimer´s.
There is sadly no way back for her.
It's so easy to get caught up chatting and forget the time, I'm sure it makes your neighbours day when you stop to talk Iris. Yes I love chives too, garlic chives even better 💚
Oh I love jacket potatoes. But the nice thing about jacket potatoes is that they are cooked in the oven! So they taste different to a boiled potato even with its skin on.
Sour cream with chives. That sounds heavenly. I wish we could get sour cream here. I suppose I could make it with some lemon or other acidy thing. I'll look it up on the internet. (Thank God for Internet!)
Your tea looks interesting. Cinnamon, cardamon and the last ingredient is some sort of juniper I guess. I don't know that one.
