Yummy-Yum!

Last year I had but three, now...!
Weird! Coldest April since 1980 and the strawberry-plants come up with this!!!
Maybe 1974, when we got them, was as weird?

Anyhows, just to get you into this:

The sweetest, best strawberries in the world!
Sadly I cannot share with Ingo. Not a dream...
He´s in hospital and no visitors allowed, darn you, Corinna!
It was a planned hospital visit, all "good".

Henry 🦁

Oh, come on, ...

Weird plants!

And funny "news" - attention, irony:
We need to get the cars off the street , they stated.
Good idea. You politicians, you. With your SUVs and what do I know.
Why do I get job offers from 40+ km away, you expect me to take a push-bike? Walk?

Only 06:31 a.m. and already 20C - SUMMER! (well, in 3 days officially) . 🌞

20 C is MY kind of weather. Better than what I am experiencing. I just finished an entire pound of strawberries and they didn't look as good as yours. Hope Ingo makes out OK in hospital.

Elizabeth, LOL, I think a pound is 500 g. Why can´t we use one thing?! Drives me nuts, but wow, that is a lot!!
Yes, I hope Ingo is home tomorrow. Still waiting for his call...

Home grown strawberries are the BEST. I hope that Ingo does come home tomorrow.

Yes, these are so special as I got them from my Mum :-)
Waiting for Ingo to call still, guess the doc was not around yet...

...I haven't had local strawberries yet this year and no berries for Henry!

Iris Flavia said...

:-) These are VERY local and Henry just smiles at them :-)

That's a good crop of strawberries. When I had strawberry plants the chipmunks would get to them before I could. They would take a bit of each berry from the back. So from the front the berries looked beautiful. I finally pulled the plants out. No more strawberries unless we buy them. Hello, to handsome Henry and his brother. Just gorgeous. Best wishes to Ingo.

I went strawberry picking for the second time yesterday. They are so yummy and we are having a fantastic crop this year too. Hope Ingo's stay is short and all good. And you mentioned printing out my tag, yes by all means, go ahead. I really appreciate you asking. Your story was made me smile. Have a super start to your weekend Iris. Hugs-Erika

CJ, oh, boy, why do animals do that?! My Peanuts at least leave the strawberries alone.
Henry says thank you :-)

Erika, ohhh, I think here are strawberry-fields to pick, too (somewhere - having no car no more.... and Ingo´s not beeping for parking I´m kinda - "foot-bound", LOL).
Thank you, I´ll print your tag out and have it as a sweet, strong, beautiful reminder to keep on going!

Interesting how plants survive and come back. Have a great day today.

What a treat to have your own strawberries. They taste much nicer than the bought ones. (and they are your mother's).
I love the song Strawberries forever. Did you know it was written in Almeria? (Not far from here) It does not refer to strawberry fields but to a Salvation Army run children's home near where John Lennon lived as a child with his aunt Mimi. I have sweet memories of that song, as in 1977 we went on a family holiday to England. My parents did not have a lot of money so we camped on a campsite near the strawberry fields. We could camp there for free if we all picked a basket of strawberries each every morning. Me and my sister loved it. We would sit in between the rows of strawberries, with our bum in the straw and a transistor radio between our legs. The radio playing Strawberry fields forever! Sweet memories.
I hope Ingo's procedure went well and that he will be home soon.
Have a good weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca

Your strawberries look like the very tasty tiny kind, which are very different from the bigger ones that are usually available in the US. In France they call them "Fraise des bois" -- wild strawberries. Really delicious: I hope yours are as good as I remember.

Best of health to Ingo!

Nicole, yes, I´m soooo happy!

____

Lisca, oh, I didn´t know, I thought it was written in, well... London - the inspiration came from your area, how nice! And the background I had no idea, thank you for explaining!!!
And what sweet memories! My Brother was born that year and we often camped at the ocean in a rented small camper.
Ingo likely will be home today - have a happy weekend, hugs from here x

Rajani Rehana, thank you...

____

Bill, they are the sweetest and Ingo called he likely will be home today :-)

____

William, Henry at his best!

____

Jan, yes to both! :-)

____

Mae, yes, in the shops you can only buy the big, "tasteless" ones, too. Yes, these are wild strawberries from the woods, sweet! Thank you, Ingo will likely be home and hopefully better...

____

Padre, sadly my Nieces can´t visit, so they won´t get Granma´s strawberries... all mine ;-) x and xheers

Yum, strawberries. But I don't like that song by The Beatles. Most strawberries in shops here have no taste, they are big and juicy, but what good is that with no flavour? Sometimes I get surprised and buy some that taste really nice, so I make a note of what brand, where they are from and what shop I got them from, but often they don't come again.

A good classic song, I"m amazed the strawberries grew to begin with so well done to her.
