Tri Colore

Ingo... no, I... it was my "fault". Darn it I bought tomatoes for Ingo, they looked fine.
I certainly carefully put them on top in my bag.
At home I saw 5 underneath were already "kaboom"! You cannot see that through the darn plastic. The ones on top are nice and firm... yeah.

But!
I cut them down, threw them in the blender, added tomato-paste, very good Greek olive oil, dried oregano and basil, a pinch of salt, pepper and gave it a good mix.
Took good, Greek olives (the ones with pip - as Jamie Oliver always says, they are the best) - cut them down and threw them in.

Fridge. Did this on Sunday in hopes I have time on Monday. Didn´t - maybe that was the trick? They all sat together and mingled so well so long.

Whilst heating it I cooked the Tri-colore-noodles (ITALIAMO Fusilli pugliesi Tris) and when done added some of the noodle water to the sauce, as Jamie and Gennaro always advise.
I certainly cut down some cheese (life is nothing without cheese) and... I was taught to never be proud of myself, but:
Best tomato-sauce I ever had.

Best, really and Ingo wanted to try - which I did not expect! - and could not due to the oil.
So... reckon next time I´ll try with butter and expect it will not be half as good.
Tips are welcome...

Tri-Colore...
If you look close enough I bet you find at least three colors in the Jungle with both I join Rain´s Art and Dinner Date today.

A drink yet to try... With which I also join AJJ...

I tried with fineliner and some liners I have no description anymore of... a bit like a paintbrush...

I bet it will be yummy, maybe a drink for a Sunday or when ... if we get the Frankfurt-project through. With sparkling wine, maybe ;-)

It looks very yummy. I love when we make things work. Go you!

I love the Happy Hippo and the dancing dog :)
Your pasta and sauce look so delicious. Maybe next time make two smaller batches one with butter for Ingo and one with oil for you. Then at least he can try it and if he doesn't like it you won't need to do that again.

Happy Whisk, yes, maybe I´ll buy broken tomatoes on purpose ;-)

River, you are a genius! I bet Ingo won´t like it and tadaaa, just for me without feeling bad!
I still have ready to go sauce with a lost best before date, though - but I´ll keep your advice in mind :-)

EVERYTHING is better with butter! It sure looks good and yes, cheese is good, too. Nice balls!

Meh.... I love olive oil! ;-)

Hahaha, life is nothing without cheese. I think so too. Unfortunately, cheese seems to be the new smoking nowadays

LOL, yes, that and reading! That´s what I do when I need a little break :-)

Your pasta looks delicious. It's making me hungry, but then I am thinking of all the good food I'll eat later today. And nice basil bottle. I like it, and I'm glad you're joining us at AJJ again. It's good to stretch your talent a bit and draw other things, or do other things artistically. Or so I think-for whatever that is worth-smile. Thanks for joining us for B&E's challenge at AJJ. And Happy Thursday! hugs-Erika

I really like your drawings of everyday things. The sauce sounds good.
They are playing Jamie & Gennaro in Italy every afternoon here right now.

Great art and a nice tasty meal, I love fresh tomato sauce.

Christine, thank you!

Bill, yes, I think: never again (never say never) no home-made tomato sauce!

Fresh tomatoes are definitely good in sauce, though usually too expensive to use that way. Great rescue! In fact for lunch we had the last 2 tomatoes in a salad because they didn’t look hopeful for lasting one more day. And it was good.

Iris Flavia said...

Mae, they were "kaboom", squishy, not for Ingo to take to work...
And I´m glad! Maybe I look out for cheap, old ones now!

Jan, cheese is essential!
And Henry is happy, too.

All I can say about your meal is yummy! My Eldest's favorite pasta is tri-color. The shape we find is farfalle (butterflies or bowties)

It sounds like you came up with a good meal. My favorite pasta is a tri-color rotini. Cheese is always a good thing :)

I love your drawings!!! And that song Iris, I remember from when I was a kid, and of course in a few movies as well. Your sauce sounds yummy and I agree with two things...life is nothing without cheese (well, obviously for us lol)...and those Greek olives are the best!!! ☺
