I don´t like white asparagus but I suggested to Ingo to look for some cause he loves it and the season is only till end June.
He got himself some and asked me to peel them for him - don´t ask me why, I did because when my PC has a fit Ingo takes care about that, fair is fair and to do the job good I googled it...
Here is how to peel asparagus.
This man advises to use your arm for support to not break it (he was actually right after all, I managed to break one)... but... see... Braunschweig is white asparagus-country and Ingo bought local.. a "tad" taller..
Reminded me of Crocodile Dundee´s explanation about what a knife is.
So sad he got in a fight with Grill´d about the knife...

I remember feeling almost like a heretic in Salzgitter, as everyone enthused about white asparagus ... and I love the green one, you should try these, better taste, less work - no heaping, no peeling, just pick and eat!
Yes, I do like the green one, but you hardly find it here!

I've never had white asparagus. Only green ones. They were a welcome Spring dish my mother made around Easter. She made a salad of sorts blanched asparagus drizzled with lemon juice along with hard-boiled eggs. Enjoy your day!
I haven't had asparagus in a year or so. I'll check my store and buy, if available.
We had fresh green asparagus yesterday and it was great.

I only had asparagus once and didn't care for it.
My goodness those are huge! I have never seen white asparagus but have heard of it. We started a new patch last year, purple asparagus. I am looking forward to trying it for the first time, but that won't be until 2026.

I did not know about white asparagus, nor how big it grows. I also did not know that asparagus needs to be peeled. Even the small green ones?
I bought some nice green asparagus recently.
