I merrily took this picture at sculpture by the sea thinking of my Brother, who is a goldsmith, "amongst other" (ya, proud big Sis ;-)...), but, heck, no!!!
This is not gold at all!
It´s called "waste" and is by Swedish artist Karl Chilcott.
The statement is rather odd, I think.
Chilcott was in the Swiss Alps and saw travellers protect themselves from the weather with the left-overs of an old roof, seeing all the traces humans leave behind.
To me it looked like huge gold leaf...
Even more I was surprised by this one...
This is "The Earth is Flat (2016)" by Ling Gang Mao from China and it tells the story of China´s people.
"The tree symbolises the beauty and fragility of nature, as it is placed on a pedestal".
Sorry, Bro, nothing to show you work-wise after all...

Not a Braunschweig Lion of the day but the work of Tania Ferrier & Abe Dunovits from WA called "Family Tree".
The "quirky family portraits" are painted on op shop silver trays and hung in a tree. It celebrates the multiculturalism and identity in Australia.
Hm. Australia and Lions.
Nooo... certainly not - this is "just" a cat!
Love and hate, pro and con, you could discuss endlessly (and one day I will have one or two cats!).

Never saw that first and third piece of art at Cottesloe.
The first is a bit odd, it looks to me like gold paper, can't figure out what it has to do with old roofs?
Yep, same here! It doesn´t look like a roof at all!
The last were many such plates haning in a tree.
I don't really care what the first one is meant to represent. It looks like gold leaf to me and I like it because it does.
