Most people suffer.
And I think I´d like to tell you what this darn pandemic did to me.
And also to my family I haven´t seen since August 2020.
"Corinna" gave me a "legal time-out".
Everybody said there are no jobs available now, don´t you worry, that´s the way times roll.
Perfect excuse to grow personally, to have time for myself. To learn, as mentioned, cook, bake, art, sport....
And now, a job.
And I can stay home.
And I can record meetings.
The first two days I was at Siemens and AA babbled and showed in record time, very fast and all I could do was taking notes on paper, having forgotten half of it by the end of the day.
She... took notes and informs me on a regular basis when (time-stamp included) she´s told me about this or that. Nice. I can tell you how I organize my notes in OneNote, how my system is and then note: "Friday, 06:50 a.m.: Explained my OneNote-system".
Use...LESS.
I don´t write down about tabs, sites etc, no info at all. And if you don´t get it two weeks later I remind you I wrote it down for you!
Now I sit at my home, we record it (sometimes, if AA agrees, once she told me off and even deleted it, buhuuuu....).
Still all very, very complex, but I can re-watch it!
I will likely do that in my free-time.

2 hours!!! So.much.new.stuff!
She recorded it all - after we were through with private chit-chat, she´s great, we are similar in so many things!
After working with men for 17 years this sure is a different experience.
She´s 20 years younger than me but we tick alike.
Or... she is even more an adult like me.
Or at some age age does not matter no more! Right?!
Put a 3- and a 6-year old in one room and you have a war. I´m 5 1/2 years older so it was seldom real war, but.... you get the picture...
But from a certain age (other AA) age does not matter.
I have the luxury to go through it all again and make notes, preferably in One Note.
It is sad so many loose out, of course!!! When have we last been to Jürgens´ Brewery, supporting the young dudes there?
Christmas markets etc, all a no-go.
My Brother. Well. Is it good or bad? He spends a lot of time with his children (good, right?).
It might be very stressy now, but I bet he´ll look back and will be thankful one day.
How did we grow up, him and I.
Our parents´ work had always prio #1.
He sits down with his kids, they play or do homework, cook and whatever.
Priceless.
Distance! Another good thing I appreciate very much!
If you follow my blog you might´ve read years and years ago how Ingo has to squeeze himself behind me at the cash-out, or how I let people go in line in front of me when they came too near.
Now I rightfully can tell people off!

In the early days at Volkswagen the assistances (who didn´t get along) also came to me with such stuff.
The one came from a holiday, ripped her shirt down to show me how tanned she got.
What?! I don´t think a man would do that.

Yet I hope for all of us we can go back to a normal life soon...It is astonishing that - in Germany at least - even after two years we stand at the beginning.
Our politicians obviously learned not a thing or want to keep us small.
Both, I reckon.
Like the "green" party talking all about pro environment (right thing to care) and then take a plane or a fat car to go from A to B whilst we use... tadaaaa.... computers and stay home.
Really, just yesterday two went to France by plane.
How? And why?
And why do they mention one took a train - yes, that is what most people do!

Corinna sure messes us all up a lot.
I try to find the positive things in this, hope,, you can, also.

Nice positive post. Good that you are getting along fine with your new colleagues and job. There are good and bad things cause by this corinna. The bad things are many businesses affected badly and many have to closed down causing many to be jobless. Here, we have many suicide cases, depressions and divorces. The positive things are people learning to reprioritize the things in their life. Working from home contribute to more bonding time with family but some complained of getting on each other's nerve. For me, more cooking, learning new recipes, learning a new language and more time in the garden, growing own veggies.
Luckily (and strangely) so far no numbers on suicide etc.
Having no kids and Ingo understanding the concept of working from home all good on that front, too!
What language do you learn?
I preferred working with men, less drama. As for the pandemic, I think for every step forward we've been able to take, we've had to take two steps back. So much whining about wearing a mask and getting vaccinated, at least here. Sometimes I think politicians are out of touch with their constituency. They are more concerned with dollars than the people.
...I have always thought that things work out for the best, but it's not always obvious at times.

Tom, I really have no idea where we´re heading right now.
How come cases rise, variants turn up in countries they should not be able to.
I think here in the US, in the last few years, work really changed. Not just from Corinna, but women and minorities rolls. The old boy network isn't so strong any more. Which is good. But there are other changes which aren't as good. It's a crazy time, isn't it? Corinna, new roles for people, still corrina...have a great weekend Iris.

So sad that things are becoming worse with the virus in some European countries.
I fear that Western Australia opens up to the world and the other states, when we reach 90% vaccination rate, hopefully by February, Covid will enter WA and we will get lots of cases. We are just not used to using masks, or working from home, we have been lucky to lead normal lives, within our State of course!
I generally like working with women and men. The only problem right now is a colleague who is busy destroying her reputation at work by being difficult to the point of impossible.
A change in lifestyle for the better!

I agree with your rant. and I just read something interesting that I am sure the news doesn't mention (I no longer watch or listen to them) that in order to manufacture all of these electric cars they are pushing-to save our environment-they are cutting down the rain forest in record time to get the ore to make the lithium batteries-how does this help their climate change? ok my rant over now haha

I confess that I don't miss the time when I was at work. I witnessed a lot of changes some good and some not so good. I see you are facing the problems in the right way.
And about the ambientalists .... Henry is a real green, he doesn't travel with the airplanes!!!!

This is a wonderful post Iris. I think I should take stock on all the positive things for me during covid. Although losing my business and income sucks big time. Anyway, I am glad you found so many good things. Have a great day.

I'm glad you are now able to record your conversations and you can learn in your spare time. Too bad you don't get along with AA, because that is your one downfall and problem. At least you now have a way around it, dear. Sounds like you are getting asked a lot of personal questions. Sometimes you have to be both a boss and a psychologist. Hope you find a happy balance there. Sorry I'm late visiting. Back problems are a pain in the BACK!

I like the "Legal time out" idea. I have benefitted in many ways from the restrictions placed on us by Covid. I'm sorry about the people who have died and some of the things we can't do, but it is also a good "excuse" for the things we'd rather not do.
