I have not been yet to New York, but...
This is a wonderful song, with an English part - and a very sexy woman this man does respect so much so he does not touch her, just indicates he would love to. Turn on the sound and have a go, if you like...
It´s Udo Jürgens - we went to one of his concerts he gave in Braunschweig - it was AWESOME!
Really, have a look, if you feel to it - we dressed all up for it!!!
And I never dress up!
The song is about a man who wants to "get cigarettes", flee the same old life, but in the end goes back to wife and kid. Here are the lyrics, if you care.
"I´ve never been to New York, I´ve never been in Hawaii, never roamed San Francisco in ripped jeans... I never´ve been to New York, never have I been totally free..."
The grand piano he plays it, guess where it´s from?
"Schimmel", if you speak German, is translated to "mould", but in this case it´s but a famous name for high quality-pianos from Braunschweig (oh, come on, let me be proud a bit of my city, huh? This is the English link btw).
Henry 🦁
It was some exhausting day yesterday, close the month for the company I work for (Brunel), having the data LAST minute, and... some "awful" meeting - afterwards I asked P for help - she could and we chatted like old friends for 45 minutes or such (I didn´t count it as work-time).
Difficult, if you never met the person for real, but I have a very good feeling.
She´s been in America, btw - she is married to an ex-Quarterback of the Braunschweig Lions!
It´s a small world!
I fell to bed, LOL.
P changed my attitude - and I heard colleagues in the background whining when they heard the name... it´s all so "been there, did that"!
The joys of being "old" and having life- and work experience.
Udo Jürgens passed 2014 when being on a nice walk. Heart attack, boom.
That´s what I want, too.
New York? Maybe on the beach at the ocean, or a lake.
Water.
You?

You want a heart attack?? I would rather die in my sleep so I don't feel it.
The music is wonderful, I listened to the whole thing. I love piano.
Er ist tot, nicht wahr, Udo Jürgens. Ich glaube, sein schönstes Lied ist ''Gib mir deine Angst'. Ich weine immer ein wenig, wenn ich es höre.
Oh and yes, I was in New York. Four times and I loved every minute!
No, I have not been to New York. I don't understand the language but I love the lively music in the video. Hope you are getting on fine with your new job. Have a great day.
River, that´s a nice option, too!
I mean, well, I saw both parents lying in hospitals forever, I want to be done and over with in a heartbeat...

Bertiebo, ja, schon 2014 ist er verstorben. Ja, das ist auch ein sehr schönes, intelligentes Lied. Mal schon, cool!

Nancy, thank you, there are good and bad days at work, reckon it´ll stay this way for a while...
I went to N.Y. more than 20 years ago.
Beautiful video, I've never listened a Jurgens' song before.
Both of you were very elegant at the concert.
Black Knight, I think he has some English Songs, too.
He really was a great composer, singer etc.
Well, I admit... atm I work in PJs, the elegance is gone ;-)
...the video is unavailable😂.
Never been to the USA. Maybe some day and yes to New York which am sure has a similar vibe like Mumbai!
I enjoyed the song.
I've been to New York twice - once on my own, in my first overseas holiday, and then again about 6 years later when the 4 of us left Germany on the way back to South Africa - we flew via the States and Brazil.
Exciting city, but I wouldn't like to live there of course, far too big for my liking.
Glad you found a "work friend" who helps you.
I just want to go back to England! Maybe 2022. Maybe.
I'm glad you and P are working well together, that you "connect." That makes all the difference in the world. (I haven't been dressed up for a real night out in ages!)
Been to NY many times, I only grew up 4 hours away in Boston. Lovely music, I enjoyed it. I'm now listening to Radio Garden where you can get stations around the world.

Tom, that´s sad! I hate when that happens.
magiceye, yes, reckon both cities are very hectical...

Sami, yes, too hectical, I suppose!
Ohhh, I found a second work-friend!
____
Jeanie, oh, I want to go back to Perth - but I don´t see it in the near future.
Yes, these nice guys make all the difference!
____
Bill, only 4 hours, cool. Is it?
Thank you for the link, Bill - I´m listening to 96FM Perth :-)
I have been to New York many times but not for a while now and probably not for a long time to come. I like it there - it has the same vibe as here on a bigger scale.
I've been to NY, San Francisco, and much of the rest of the US, but never to Europe. Perhaps we should swap houses for a month or two? How fun would that be??
I don't know if I'd just want to have a heart attack, fall down and die. Better than a sever long lasting illness, yes. I think in my sleep it would be better. But not for a long time. I like living and still have a lot to do. I've heard of Schimmel pianos before. I'm trying to remember what kind I learned on way back when. It was my piano, but my mom wouldn't give it to me, wouldn't let me take it, so now my brother has it. It doesn't seem right at all, and still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It might have been a Schimmel but I can't tell you as I can't see it. Hope today wasn't as exhausting. Hugs-Erika
I'd like to see New York.
I've been to New York City, didn't like it. Too big, too crowded. I'll take the quiet of upstate New York.
I been to Hawaii and San Francisco.
Coffee is on and stay safe
RedPat, I hope we all can go wherever we want again soon!
____
Spare Parts and Pics, that would be awesome!!!
I´ve never been in the uS!
____
Erika, oh, how sad! I learned on a Steinweg, my Brother has it - he would give it to me, but we don´t have the space (and I cannot play it anyways anymore).
Sad, sounds like you and your Brother don´t get along? Oh, big hugs from here.
Yesterday was ... I count down the days for AA to leave...
____
William, I have no idea where to go if I could visit America!
____
CJ, yes, I´m afraid it would be too much for me, also. I prefer Perth - loads to do but people are taking it all easy.
____
Dora, cool!
No I have not been to N.Y. my daughter and I had planned a trip before covid but something came up and we had to cancel.
