Christmas morno, pitch dark still.
I make my way in drizzle drops to the grocery.
A woman in her 80´s or such is standing there, waving a car driver away.
Me... a couple of years ago would´ve passed without a word, too shy to say anything, but now????
I said to her "and what is this - is there a new rule that a heavy car stops to let us through?! What nonesense. The energy wasted!"
She: "yes!!!! I always make them go, we´re but light people!...
Oh, if we don´t meet again soon - A Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year!"
I´ve never met her before. We live in a big city...
I adult! And I´m rewarded!
People, strangers... they are nice if you approach them nicely.
We both parted with a smile and yes, I could see that as this was in the open street - masks down, distance kept.

Christmas-Movie as in... let us save the Earth!
I´m wearing glasses - those who happily join me (oh, lets be thankful these things exist and we don´t stagger around half-blind) - well, the glasses fog up. Add light rain, add a mask.
The check-out-girl in pity asked if I see her at all and if I´d like a paper towel.
Here people are super friendly - or maybe it´s Gurri and my Happy Hat?
It´s not Christmas-sy, it´s EVERYDAY FRIENDLINESS - Elmo wished for Christmas every day... I think we have it already.
Let us all keep the happy spirit! Every day.

It's always good to meet friendly people who can make a mundane shopping trip into a pleasant experience. Recently my daughter came to visit and she and I went together to my favourite local deli, where we bought lemon olive oil and had a wonderful chat with a Swiss fellow who was promoting the product, and later helped a young Syrian woman with her two children, recent arrivals in Canada, to navigate the supermarket and explain things to them. We came hime in the best of spirits.
