Kick The Cook (Don´t)

Ingo has to work longer (starting later than me), so we went to the city rather late yesterday.

Ingo also wanted to buy a good cigar.

Yah. Smoking is bad - if you just taste and don´t inhale...? All good, right?

5-7 pm it´s "happy hour" at Schadt´s, we wanted to sit outside so I offered to Ingo I take a place and wait for him.

BUMMER.

The couple next table - a tad older than me - looked at me pitiful.

Awwww. Poor girl. Has to come here by herself.

K saw me coming and said, as usual, just one for now?, knowing... guessing? Ingo will follow.

The looks I got from said couple getting a "half" aka (to me/them) "big" beer... pffft!

J, who brought it, stayed with me for quite a while, chatting, she´s like a friend rather.

Then Ingo came over and got a beer without ordering. "Bummer", J knows us.

That couple looked away.

Later two men asked them if they could share the 5-seats-table (we shared a two´s), the new one to the left knew nothing about Schadt´s.

Without even tasting he added heaps (!!) of salt!

I hope the cook was in love (German saying?! Means added way too much salt already)....).

HELLO?!

At least take the "efford" and try the food that was cooked for you first!
That´s an insult to the cook, no?

Made me "angry".
I know the food is good there.

Anyhows.
Was nice being back!

Chatting with "the staff".

SUMMER!! :-)

Ingo being ok :-)

Poor cook, though, glad he didn´t see this!

Right?

Butter Bei Die Fische

Today is friend P´s Birthday.
(I didn´t cut down these roses for her, no worries! Just such a nice view, no?)
And just yesterday I found the perfect pressie (well, part of it).

I had my difficulties since... well. We´re much alike also in: We don´t want kids.

Now she has twin-girls!

What does a Mum of very young twins enjoy?

I thought of a wellness-day, a massage, but she´s like me - being touched by complete strangers is "a horror".

I found a VW-van as chalkboard, she works directly for VW, it´s useful and kinda cool.
Useful, right?
And a form she can bake luck as much as she wants :-)

And then...

Boring?
No!
Because... it says...

("Die" pronounced "dee", meaning "the")
She likes fish. And she adds butter.
Perfect, huh?
(And useful!)
Naaaahh. Not only that!

"Butter bei die Fische" is no real German.
"Butter an den Fisch" would mean you add butter to fish.

In Northern Germany they say it different due to slang, "Butter bei die Fische".

And it also means: Cards on the table, let´s be honest!

And that´s what goes for us strongly as well - so .. perfect gift, huh?

Like... When my Dad passed she started that exclusive Advent-Calendar thing.
When the twins were due she said: No fussing around, that´ll be too time-consuming, lets turn it into a Christmas-Dine-Out, ok? No hard feelings.

That´s how I like it :-)

Butter bei die Fische!

She pronounces Fisch "Fösch", though, gotta modify it non-permanently.

Hope it´s a good pressie, cause... porcelain and very young kids?
She´ll handle it, right, parents can do that.

What a find, no?
Did I ever mention I love making pressies? Guess this might bring a huge smile.
Hopefully.

If you care about the salad-thingy, please read the comment to this post - thanks Grace, I am a happy salad now (still a tad afraid of Big´s words not coming true...)

Rrrroarrrr...

Samsung, What Do You Want To Tell Me? .... hopefully a big fat nothing?
My Samsung´s power supply broke!!!

OK, I remember H and B´s son getting wide eyes from disbelief when before leaving Perth 2013 I showed him my cell-phone.
It was a dinosaur back then already.

But.
This dinosaur lasts two weeks.

This thingy...

I have to reload every 2 days!
And I can use it as phone only.
Because... "advanced" Germany and WiFi?! Pfff.

I have a super-old and cheap contract that doesn´t cover internet. Either or.
And this one has all Perth-contacts (I know I bet I can load them to a new phone? Or they are on my Telstra-card?). Goes a Telstra-card with a German product? Yes, right, my klarmobil works with Aussie-thing.)
Obviously I´m no teccy...

But... every two days?!!

And funny enough I found out just after getting the very last two cute trolleys:

Ingo does not think I can get a power supply for my Samsung no more.
He has a "dangerous" power supply, let´s see...

Am I a dinosaur? I have no idea.

The Olden Days

Pic taken ca 2001, welcome to my flatsharing-place.

Hopefully my third and last one. Or maybe when we´re old and alone we go back to that? Who knows.

Am I frugal? I still have the very same furniture.

My first job.
My still current one.
Since I didn´t know if I keep it (different to what I studied) I went into flatsharing with Marco and Christine.

I had a "bunk bed" in there but... height, huh?
So every day I used this fouton.

That TV. Was the only one. Was used in my absence by everyone... I actually had no room of my own. Until Ingo, after some Chinese guests broke down stuff, shut it down to just my use. Kindergarten, huh?

Marco´s side.
He played the guitar. And the harmonica. Late.
We fought a lot.
He was in his 50´s, professor for agriculture, in China often.
He still lives there, I met him - I get our bread at the bakery there still.

Christine moved out, Stefan moved in.

Stefan moved out and Paola moved in.
She really gave me the creeps and I finally, finally looked for an apartment on my own.

In the aftermath I never understand why I - and Ingo!!!! - lived with this concept so long!

The "living room/kitchen" was right in front of my door...

Privacy? Nope.

Thanks, Paola, for freaking me out!

Haha, friend P and I cooked.
Marco, who was weird also, as in eating bread that was partially mouldered, put a penny in front of my door he "owned" me...
Put on the big oven to heat a slice of toast...

He said, smells yummy! And I... not meaning anything bad, replied, tastes great, too!.
P, later, why didn´t you invite him?!!!

Just didn´t occur to me. Penny, huh?

I lived there... three whopping years.

And Ingo accepted it!
Was all we knew.
Never.Again. Not as a couple, seeing each other only on weekends.

How about you, pro or con flatsharing, nice/bad/none experiences?

(Actually) I Don´t Like 'Em

Roses, these are some, right?
Dunno, maybe the thorns "turn me off" or how THE rose in The Little Prince behaves...

The only book I have in French btw...
My fav passage:

But these are just beautiful, no?

I hope the residents didn´t see me taking all those pics...

I couldn´t decide, cause (actually) they are beautiful indeed.

Truth be told I even have some roses here...

It´s summer!!!

(Crazy) Summer

Whew, yesterday started sticky and very warm.
I love warm, but sticky not so much.
Esp not in 4th floor with huge windows, gah.

My Muslim colleague again did not drink a drop. He even went for a walk! We decided it´s too hot and humid for that...
After I had... (drumroll)... fish in the canteen. (OK, it was one big fishfinger, I admit ;-)...)

I left early.

Friday. I could´ve taken the way through the city. Forgot about that stupid construction site.

Customer M had to work till noon the other day and really waited for green here. I would´ve driven through - you can see if someone´s coming.... It´s a real long wait.

Later...

And then...

Because, yes - more yummy!

Today... Rainy. 21C, maybe up to 26.
Crazy summer.
But at least: Summer!

SUMMER

Way too lazy to say much more.

Only this:
Old stories bein' told bout 'Straya.
"Complaining" about the so-much-awaited heat.

Summer... Please stay!

Lock (Him/Her) Up

Summer... him.. her? Le Soleil (male), the sun/die Sonne (both female).
La Lune (female)... der Mond (male) ...

I don´t care, just let´s lock up summer, ok, I can´t accept the days are getting shorter already.

If I was rich...

Though, actually, roses... I´ll come to that some time later.

Can´t we take a time-out now? Enjoy?

(Snails? Female, in German...)

Be-Cause...

Ahhh.
I sat on the balcony last arvo (with some very drowned/destroyed flowers - I spare you the sight for now) - can´t it be forever like this?

How about a cold-ban, a snow-ba.... yah, I know.

Summer is back! :-)

In The City?

Crazy, just have a look here, animals get blurry with this cam!
That cutie looked at me for a while but got bored before the cam found him/her.

Ahhh, summer, no?

The city really takes care to have beautiful places, thankfully!

Thankfully, btw...

Dentist went fine :-)

Let´s Play!

Sunday the 21st Play-mile was on.

Sadly Bro and family couldn´t make it, bet esp the big Niece would´ve had a blast - there were also stands for the wee ones, though.

Crazy enough Henry was all by himself, how sad, just a few puddles as company.

This looks like fun, no?

OK, I´d probably puked right away... ;-)

I love that it´s all for free.

Sorry, it´s a pic-galore, but isn´t this croc too cute? This Dad said, "come on, dare to go!" :-)

All in all I took nearly 50 pics!

Now that´s new - the Braunschweig helmets are available in kid´s size!

Have you seen the Simpsons-episode where the US Army comes to school to recruite kids?
The German Army must´ve seen it, I reckon...

There was also handcraft like this...

So much on offer!

Funny enough I still remember the fear I had being in such a (much larger) pool...

You know. Sometimes I really hate not being taller.
I had not a chance to see what was going on here!

Later the sun even payed a visit.
Maybe next year family can join the fun...
