I´m joining River with Thursday Art and Dinner Date - but I dare to sneak in Brekkie instead - in honor to SUMMER!
And yes... it´s really Thursday over here....
Wednesday was Signs and also I have work, work, work - yesterday 10+ hours - on a summer day!!!
What´s better than a light breakfast, right?
OK, dinner, of course, can be like this:
I admit, I´m too lazy to make a dressing.
Ingo jiggles with mustard, oil, vinegar etc, etc.... I take but oil, sometimes high quality olive oil, sometimes one of these...
And where do these goodies come from?
Before turning to the art-part let me pick up on Six-Thirty from yesterday.
Erika, who gladly pointed me to the book agreed we reached a "pivotal moment" when science bumps into belief. And yesterday´s snippet might´ve come harsh to some of you.
Quickie on the book: it is about a female scientistin Chemistry in the 1960´s - a man´s world she worked on making it an equal world. Six-Thirty is the name of her dog and by now she is a TV-cook who stresses Chemistry to fight.
Yesterday she said she says no grace before a meal.. because (we´re talking the 1960´s after all!) she is an atheist. Bummer. But she DOES believe!
Ring propped above my wedding ring for the pic, isn´t he a cutie, the frog?
(Wow. the ring actually is titanium, but the "rills" were golden once... long ago! 😂)
The princess?
Not me, though...
This is the princess:
And her toy:
Sundays we have a fairy tale and this Sunday was The Frog-Prince.
She loses her toy and who comes to help?
"A KISS! Let me eat by your side, let me sleep by your side!"
He´s not the prettiest and she refuses after she´d promised. But her Dad...
"Only when you find a man you truly love you can be the man", says the King to his stubborn Daughter, who is always dressed like a guy, not in a "pretty dress", she refuses that whenever she can.
I was told in real life by four men I am no woman and they meant it as a compliment.
One of them was Ingo.
The prince in this fairy tale is turned into a (King) Frog and only a true love can save him.
See the ring(s) I have.
Nono, ...
Wenn du mich lieb haben willst... mir einen Gute-Nacht Kuss gibst...
And. Since the oven is no threat no more I went for it.
And you can take that literally.
At first I went to our bakery, 2 km one way.
Passed two grocery stores that keep packing stuff from A to B to C... you never know where to find what - reckon they assume customers will buy more, aka things they actually don´t need on the hunt for what they DO need.
Not me.
I´m an adult.
I know what I want and if you bug me like that I go to the darn ole REWE that at least has the same ole same at the same place.
Just... No cauliflower.
Empty basket. I thought like, "really?!!!!"
So, after those 4km I went to the other REWE, 1 km one way.
They had a mini-cauliflower, in a mix with a tiny broccoli, hello, you two.
Well, OK then.
If I mix up Jan´s recipe I can also add ham. And that broccoli.
And no, that is no contradiction to saying I buy more... I played with the ham-thought on the way already.
Came out yum!
Luckily, cause stubborn-me, I refuse to make a tiny batch, it takes ages till the oven is hot, so... I use it properly. And once cold the freezer is no energy-waste, either, there is enough space.
One muffin.
One. Done. Yum, but I´m full. Add 20 years and I end up with half a muffin!!!
I´ll be a cheap ole lady! ;-)
Really, Jan´s place is an inspiration for recipes - and other interesting stuff, too! If you haven´t... check it out!
As I join Elizabeth´s "T Stands For Tuesday" I present you my "reward" for braving up the ....
... in the ferris wheel and yes, and for braving up he promised me...
The Padre gave a cute comment: "Boys Drool, Girls Rule, big hugs" :-)
Now you know how life rolls!
Monday I got sweet snail mail from Kathy - Ingo asked me to give a zoomie:
... and I had a very nice chat at our bakery.
Muffin baking on Tue, all grey, cold days. Wed got some snail mail out myself and weeee... my life is so exciting.. I went recycling bottles. I hate people who gather those darn plastic bottles, but the (new) EDEKA has three automats and they´re faster than a human (or me at least).
I joined Freddie and took the darn loud vaccuum.
Sadly got into a very huge fight with my Brother.
Spoke on an answering machine for the first time in my life to say Happy Birthday to my Niece - yes, that was nearly as big as going to a Pub on my own.
Bro WhatsApp´d me. Said sorry. Saw it only on Monday when I WhatsApp´d my T...
Life can be good again, I think.
Got pressies from Ingo. Oh, boy, he meant well, but ... I´m under pressure!!
And weee..... I somehow have no idea how to put in youtube-videos but via HTML.
That coding drives me NUTS!!!!!! Plain nuts!!! It hurts! Why, blogger, why? Such a chaos!
I´ll try that "function" that is also offered like for pics next time, lets see...
Gone are the (g)olden days when we were in control....
It´s like driving an automatic car! I hate that! I want to decide when to change gears.
I want to have control. I´m old.
But, well. It´s for free. Right.... What a week (end) that was.
Really, I´m not good at fighting. I sure drove Ingo mad starting over and over with my issues with family. But it hurt so badly. Hope it´s really OK now.
Invited them again.
Let´s see. A no might come also due to "summer-weather" - ferris wheel in cold rain is no fun.
11C right now. That is 51F. 🥶 Hello, hottest month of the year!
Sorry, dear King Frog, this is for me.... Frogs don´t eat eggs, do they?
Ahhh, Summer, people, finally!
This was from last Thursday, so, officially not summer yet then, but it was HOT, YAY!!!!
With Ingo sadly in hospital I skipped the routine (he´s home now) - supper with watching The Simpsons in the kitchen is what we usually do - I went on the balcony, had my kindle, the salad, the warmth... JOY.
I might skip the routine in summer anyways now.
Those were real big eggs and I cooked them 7 minutes only - perfect they came out!
Well, this was one. The other I had the next morning on my self-baked bread.
Being without a job, huh...
Art-wise... just the journal, I´m sorry...
SUMMER!!!
Certainly I had to wear the dress Ingo presented me with!
I´m soooo afraid to break or loose it. This was the first time since 2011 I wore. Yah, laugh about me...
I also wore the red glasses (my Brother provides me with so many glasses,, yet I love my green ones and always wear those - see them ALL here!!! Minus the ones for riding the push-bike... not in the pic, but he even made me some for that! Little Brothers, huh? 🥰).
Let´s talk of... what do you think I cut the ingredients for the salad in first pic with?
Yesss....
Let Ingo break loose...
I spare you the pic of my cut finger. These things are SHARP like hell and I am clumsy.
Ingo plans to kill me, I´m sure now 😉
And since this is for Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday" and it´s summer...
You can freeze bananas. They look ICKY. But they taste OK 😁.
(Yes, it´s his wife, but, by golly he is so much bigger, "Papa" counts.)
It´s SUMMER!!!!! Summer, finally!!! I´m in heaven!
AND!!!! Ingo spotted two new Peanuts, baby-squirrels, ohhh, I still have enough walnuts, I hope , to feed them... but maybe they´re still on Mama´s milk?
(I learned you are not supposed to provide peanuts as these are not nuts, but the name for the squirrels just sticks....).
Guess. W.
Not even 07:00 am, Ingo went outside, saw: They cut down trees, W´s car is in the way.
Rang his bell, he was still asleep, but then shouted "thank you!" and searched for another parking space (otherwise his car would have been towed away).
How is it always with sweet W????
(For those who don´t know it´s our 81 year old neighbor from 4th floor)
Addendum, feeding the Peanuts I found our Breakfast:
Last of Mum´s 1974-wood-strawberries (or do they produce new ones this summer?)
