Yesterday we stood by the balcony door when Ingo said, "Look, there is Peanut!"
Uh-oh. I hadn´t put out the walnuts yet, moved very slowly, cause... he really stood there looking inside!!!
What does a Squirrel understand about the concept of glass, I wondered, slowly grabbed two walnuts, very slowly opened the balcony door.
Peanut was in the corner, looking at me! Didn´t run away!!!
I silently said "sorry, I forgot."
Put one nut to the frog and one right down on the floor and slowly backed in inside.
He came to it and munched right on it or rather prepared it with his teeth to run away....
But he did the job right there!
Pic a tad blurry cause I stood in the middle of the room to not scare him away.

Short explanation:
It´s a great book, one of the best I´ve ever read!
About a female scientist in Chemistry in the 1960´s - it was a man´s world!
And she fought for it becoming a human, an equal world.
A stray dog was following her one day, she didn´t notice. Her boyfriend looked out the window and pointed at it, she thought he wants to know the time, it was Six-Thirty in the afternoon and hence she named the dog like that :-)
She fights her way through to women being accepted in the man´s world in a funny, semi-scientist way, very well written!

I have had cockatoos wait while I very slowly walked out and put some seed in the tray for them and the crow too would wait while I threw freeze-dried mealworms onto the grass. It's nice when the animals begin to trust.
I am going to a different bookshop tomorrow and see if I can buy this book.

...can this ever be an equal world?
They say squirrels are one of the smartest animals, so I'm not surprised Peanut waited for you. When I took in the bird feeders this summer (mostly because of the bear visit and because I wanted to keep the chipmunks from eating my garden), one squirrel sat on our deck and gave me the post pathetic look through the sliding door. He knew. I knew he was sad. But the feeders will go back out next month and the squirrels will be back in full force. I agree, this book is one of the best. What women needed to deal with then was crazy. Glad I live now even if our world is crazy too. And no problems that you didn't read my book post. I get it. My wish list has gotten huge from reading other people's books reviews. Hope you have had (or are having) a good weekend. Hugs-Erika

We have a runny cheese made with sheep's milk from the highest mountain of Portugal "Serra da Estrela", which pairs very well with quince marmelade or even with a slice of simple cake.

When Looking for a job with my science degree I never let on that I could type in case I ended up with a tying job. Now everyone types but not back then.
And I always kept the male form!

About the only things that would take peanuts here are zoo animals or birds, rats or mice, no squirrels but they look so cute though.
