Let´s Be Happy!

Mural found in my 2024 "Perth-stash".
Can´t remember where exactly that was but wish for this for sure!

Ingo and I being happy and the sun is shining.
This was a crap summer, really. We are good, though - that is the most important thing!

News on TV yesterday: Summer. Christmas-shopping has started :-(
How the heck are kids supposed to believe in Santa Clause and look forward to formerly magical Christmas??
Those coincidences get scary, really.
(I had prepared this post when the news went on).

Kindy goes on: The chimney sweep (we don´t have a chimney, we run on gas) wants to check our "safety". There were paper-lists on the main door with too little places to fill out and I saw it too late.
Man comes in, checks, leaves, 5 minutes max. I added my name to a neighbor. Some hmhmhm scratched me out.

"Nice" house we live in... On it goes...

Also this still in the morning news.
No. Just no.
We stand with Ukraine. They protect us! And they are NOT the aggressor, they are the victim.
They will (hopefully) give nothing away.
It´s kindergarten for the big ones, so sad - let us be happy and kick that little man who rides half-naked on horses out!

If I Fits I Sits

(A tad unnecessary  the lights are on red, huh?)
Also please note the people sitting on top... I would not be that brave..

Erika asked if I´d still fit in a kid´s chair upon my post here...

Let me explain first:
Australia had bids and Perth won upon a story for The Giants of Nantes, France.
There is a little girl ... she looks for her Uncle. He searches for her and came as Diver by the Ocean.
They meet finally. But here is the Search. In the Streets of Perth!

I went to BIG W after one tough day standing at The Giants (Ingo worked as (only European) volunteer

...and - after checking - got myself a kid´s camping-chair, Perth 2015, that was. THE EVENT!
Kid´s one is easier to transport and ...see title, so ...yes, dear Erika, I - darn it -  am that small I fit into such a chair.

November 30th, 2013, our wedding day.
I even cared for high heels and Ingo still has to bend down.

I wanted to share but the other woman... preferred the sidewalk (didn´t fit) and it was DRAMA.

See.. it was HOT! And the two of us (she was a retired English-teacher) waited for hours.
She´s also an "Adrenaline Junkie", as you can read on her T-Shirt.

The Giant Diver did NOT fit around the corner!!! ... they sat him down... in a big(ger) chair.

Later I gave the chair to fH´s 7-year old Son mL. Nothing goes to waste. He is MUCH taller than me now, no idea what became of that chair.

Here is Ingo´s Baby:

Can you believe... over 10 years now ago!!! March 2015!!!!
And yes. I waited so long I was in first row...

Et oui, je comprends tout ca…
La position de ma tête .... "kaputt"...
Henry 🦁 was in icky-cold Braunschweig!

Imagine it: Fullest trains and I have a chair with me...
I was not that crammed, I fit.
But as I watch so many cats online - can´t have one here - heart too big for the trouble when they have to "go" and all the travel...

Well, this came to my mind at once upon Erika´s question! ... If I Fits I Sits.

Hmpfft

Mural taken 2024 in Perth, speeding by with Ingo.

I´m "swimming". ESE really wants me back.
mM maybe too.....

Waiting is not my thing.
Also I´m burning. Chest, face, arms.... after over 30 years I let go of "the pill" and I BURN.
Did that in consultation with my doctor... think she has no idea herself? I should´ve waited till winter...
And I need to proof I can study.

This mural-lady has no "eyes" and I feel the same.

Landscape Park, Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia

Duisburg's Landscape Park was once an iron and steelworks, established in 1901. When demand for steel declined, the plant was abandoned after 84 years of operation. The ominous metalworks creaked abandoned in the wind until someone came up with the idea of renovating the site and transforming it into a unique urban park.

At night, the intricate shapes and fascinating angles of the industrial complex are now illuminated by neon lights. The Landscape Park, where you can see blast furnaces, bunkers, and other sights, is open year-round.

More Karls

Remember Karl? fK sent me pic above and I thought immediately "sloth" - and I was right.
Maybe his name is Karl, too?
Really, who sends you a blurry pic like that in the first place and yet I get it....
Maybe "Karl" moved too quick....  (sloth!!!)

More?

That was 1995 in... I think (?) Bowling Green Bay NP, Australia.

Some dude!!!!

Into everything!!!!

Dude, don´t hurt yourself!!! With respect (wild animal after all) I - or Ingo? - braved up and gave something "healthy:

Yeah, you Germans....

Another woman went, "OHHHH, SWEEEEEETIE!!!" and tried to pet the possum.
Yah, no. Wild animal, scratched her.
"BAD YOU, BAAAAD", she yelled.

It´s not your house-cat!
Respect, huh. (OK, they don´t have it, but then... we come into their place!)

Better Think Twice

Looks nice inside, but this sounded a bit dangerous!

Well, yes, it once was a...

Yips this café is in Freo Prison. We´ve been there again in 2024 and I think that was that about it. But I really liked the name for that café and with that I join Tom´s Signs2.

"33 retro dishes that are rarely served today

 Kidney stew

Offal is currently all the rage, especially in restaurants that pride themselves on cooking everything from "nose to tail." But in the early 20th century, the most fashionable restaurants featured lamb or beef kidneys on their menus, traditionally braised in rich broth with garlic and herbs, often served with bread. Lamb kidneys in a savory sauce were also a particular hit."

From Plant to Plant

I procrastinate as in I have a nasty test so instead I clean up my mailbox and look what I found!

Ingo´d sent me a link to Woodside, where we visited in 1995.

2023 we visited their office in Perth to ask if they have the film from back then in a modern format. The girl at the servicepoint likely wasn´t even born yet at that time and sadly had no clue whatsoever.

I think Ingo wrote them an e-mail, no idea about the outcome...

Luckily Ingo got the film from video-tape to a video-format so we can still watch it on the PC... I think...

The film is really so well done, so arty...

Here you can read about the North West Shelf Project near Karrata/Dampier in the Pilbara-region.

And here is the YouTube-Video:

Aaaaand... back to work!

See You "Soon"

In February 2024 the new manager, Skye, handed us over these hats.
I got a big hug from her and Rosemary when we left for good and when I asked for our cabin again last week, referring to her and especially Rosemary, saying we are guests since 1999 - for in case they have new managers again...

See, last time I wanted to book for January 2024 I got as answer: 2 weeks max.
Rosemary stepped in, saying she knows us, we are trustworthy and the new management should grant us 6 weeks.

I needed to do a  down payment, which had to go again via Monday Mural host and friend Sami cause they don´t have an international bank number.

I got as answer the next day (they are 6  hours ahead of us):

"Good morning Iris and Ingo,
I have booked you in and emailed a confirmation
😊
We can’t wait to see you again."

And.... down payment: $0!

Perth, come end of January: We´re on our way!

I hope these pressies NOT to meet!

And yes. It HAS to be #79!!!

Last time I saw this on TV:

You do know this great guy, right?

How he swings his hips!!!!
We just missed him!!! We left on March 5th... he was there March 20th. Buhuuuu.

Yes, in beautiful Kings Park!!!
Who knows whom we miss next time.
At least we, or I, will hit Sculptures by the sea again!

And hopefully meet our friends!

Chloroform causes instant unconsciousness

A rag soaked in chloroform on the face is a pretty handy way to quickly incapacitate a character. But even if it does stun you, it actually takes a good two to five minutes for the effect to take hold."

Poor Joey!

Dino-pause - for a change I´d like to take you to Australia.

Pic from 1995, full story here. These dudes are just too funny.
And strong, and you cannot feel their breath!
Mostly they lie around...

Ingo was not amused! That´s a full petroleum lamp right by the head!
In front of our tent...

In that National Park (Greenbay) a man   wanted to fix something at his trailer with hammer and nail. It all went too fast, I could not warn him.

As you do, with one hand you hold the nail, with the other the hammer and  with short movement you aim  till you found the right angle, right.
There are also Red kangaroos in the park.  When grazing they are already taller than me!!!

No pic from me - if they hop you make way! Cause when standing they get up to two meters!!! That is six foot five. And they are fast! But friendly. But here goes:

So this red giant wanted to see up close what the man was doing and watched over his shoulder, which caught my attention. One... two..... and ...with power he knocked the hammer on the roo´s head who, in return used the tail and hit him hard with both feet and he flew into the trailerwall.

His wife´d seen it from inside and failed to warn him also, jerked the trailordoor open, roo was shaking it´s head, the man still on the ground, the woman: "Poor Joey!!!"

Here you see a Joey, they are babies doing their first hops.

That woman had priorities!
Since no one was really hurt I laughed my head off.

This is for...
