(Manly) Time So Runs!
The other day, week... month(!) I passed through a store and saw this funny beer, got it for Ingo... and kinda forgot about it.
Just to find out: Best before... June 2017.
Lesson learned: Things near the cash-out are prone to be overdue soon.
And, yes - we sat outside yesterday, it was 21C!
We´ll try it anyways.
Maybe the beer cannot read ;-)
Manly, btw... Ingo detected this funny Lady Beetle:
Must be a boy, huh!

Some Things Last Long
Do you have an idea what this might be?
Reckon if you´re an Aussie you know.
Somehow the Koala is hiding!
Now what do you think how old this piece, that looks as good as new although it was in use under the scorching hot Aussie-sun a lot, how old is it?
Tatdaaaa...
I got one, too, back then but felt silly with it and gave it to my Mum, who loved it truly.
In Germany.
Aw, well.
No idea where "mine" is now, but Ingo´s...
... right here!
Wow, that sure is good quality, huh?
Do you have such a high-quality-product, too?
I still have the coat my Mum bought in the 60´s - good as new, too!
Luckily some time to go till I put it on again.

Time...
Autumn sure is here, the light is getting all misty.
And someone obviously would like to skip the whole nasty part of the year and jump right to...
Or maybe there just lives a person like me who simply likes the look of the stuff.
Our xmas-deco sits on it´s places all year round, too (and I bet you wouldn´t even notice).
Maybe this place is a bit crazy in general, I mean, hello, police officers! You´re no role model here exactly!
But whatever you think:
I do enjoy (though I admit, right now Perth would defo be my No.1. I truly hate the cold, dark half of the year).
Sadly btw that´s just a magnet, not a pin.
Oh. And a bottle opener, too, I saw later. Too heavy to turn it into a pin, sadly.
How about you - are you lucky enough to live in a place you enjoy very much?
Oh, addendum, about time... MIL joined FB and found me somehow and now I´m supposed to be her "teacher".
Just, since an American friend in 2008 opened that account for me it´s American and I have no idea what she sees in her German version... The fun never ends...
She´s so cool, though, we managed!
Still... hopes are up she chooses Ingo, right? ;-)

15 Minutes (And More - Hello Mum)
Saturday Ingo prepared two pipes and off we took to our butcher.
Wow, that car sure eats up three parking spaces, but.. wow.
It was for sure the right thing to do to also buy Jamie´s books.
You watch the DVD and have the right amount of ingredients, can look for instructions again.
Perfect.
Still not in 15 minutes, but fun!
Very, very yummy and four portions left to take to work!
And, just to mention: Ingo 18 years later got another special birthday-gift yesterday night from Mother Nature:
Just like back then when we were near Kalgoorlie in the deep bushes a massive lighting said:
Happy Birthday!
1999 we were about packing the car and leaving in panic but just like back then Mum said Enjoy and bye-bye :-)
And moved on!
We did and enjoyed. Moving a condo is no option, anyways, right? ;-)
Thanks for the pressie, "Mum"!

Ingo Fell (For It)
The other day Ingo came home from the supermarket with a boy-ish grin.
And that bag, ha! - he fell for it!
But, well, it´s no lie, right, he is quite a good catch (mostly), won´t you agree?
Happy Birthday btw...
Usually you ask your new flame up for a cuppa coffee or a glass of wine, right.
But I´m no new flame ;-)
And we live ground level, too.
And it was yum!

Golden Times - Oh, Ingo!
In the maybe last warm enough temps Ingo finally sprayed the doors for the annoyingly open cupboard golden.
Awww... we are rhich (hahaha...)
But.. OH-NOOOooooooooooo
Yahh.. just kidding :-)
Well, it´s but a start, huh?
Sadly the weather is too cold to do the rest now, but Ingo will do it!

Myths Of (My) Life
Every time I see such a portable toilet I wonder...
But now with this mass of portable toilets I dare to put up the question:
Why on earth "TOI TOI"???
In German when you wish someone luck... well.
You say... drumroll... "TOI TOI TOI"!
This puzzles me every single time. Why are these toilets wearing "TOI TOI"?!
"Good luck for half a quick sh..."???
What?
Why?
I´m close to really find out the company and ask (but then there would be a "myth" less in my life, right?)...

Hoooonestly? And A Mural
It takes a while now till the day dawns, I walk to work in complete darkness.
Thanks to Schnittchen annoucing even the day before what they´ll have on offer I did take nothing for lunch but took off shortly after 07:30 to grab my lunch from there.
You wonder why I went that early?
Once I went at lunchtime and everything was sold already!
The owner is a crazy gal.
Sometimes I think she must see her role like an actor does. I simply cannot imagine she speaks like that in real life.
High-pitched or let´s say like a housewife spoke in the 50´s (the decoration is between 60´s and 70´s, though).
- She asked (again), which kind of breadroll (they´re from our bakery btw, I could see!).
- And, as usual (I don´t go there THAT often) I replied: On which one is it yummier? (I come to the "the" in a sec).
- Her again: "Hoooonestly?!"
One day... one day I´ll ask her to lie, LOL.
In her defence. Mostly she says the plain one, which is cheaper.
I took the one with seeds, that was ready to sell and she made me a plain one, too.
On the way back, since the city still was kinda asleep and hence no cars, I saw a new (?) mural:
As usual.
No link to the artist.
Lunch-time!!
I guess I explained it once before. "Schnittchen" is like "Schlößchen".
A "Schnitte" actually is a slice of bread with some yummy stuff.
So "Schnittchen" would be a small slice of bread with yummy stuff.
Yet... she sells breadrolls. I never asked. She also offers hot lunch, so I reckon the name was first, the ideas came later.
Speaking 50´s style with 60´s-70´s deco just matches right :-)
Both breadrolls were yummy btw!

Colorful Learning
After the exam I needed some distraction and roamed the city a bit.
I mean, seriously.
Not only is the exam on paper (!) and not only do you waste more time having to put the results on an extra paper (40 questions in 60 minutes).
No, the sheets are tied together like a book and I really had one question that was a whole DIN-A-4 page, and can you believe it, the possible answers were on the back! So more time wasted by having to put them on the page before the question.
Anyhows... I ran into Graff, that dangerous book-store.
And I got two ... Braunschweig books (you never thought of that, right ;-)...).
The first one is a coloring book. But not only that!
You learn "a lot" and you can upload your work, too. I certainly was curious and had a look. Hmmm. Nothing there yet.
On September 20th it came onto the market!
I have a brand new book here and if you like, let me tell you about some highlights.
The candleholder in Henry´s dome weighs over 400 kg and is 4,80 m in height.
Our Brunonia is not only heavy (25,8 tons) and with 9,50 m not only very tall, it´s also the tallest in Germany - ha, Berlin, you suck! ;-)
This Braunschweig person was a teacher. In 1874 he brought soccer to the city and hence to Germany.
Why soccer, man, football would´ve been a hit!
Help!!! Someone broke into the most important museum for classic art in Germany, the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum and stole all the art:
The author suggests you do the painting, but only in the book, please, not for real (the book is also for kids, after all).
And I never knew the brewery feldschlößchen is named after Richmond-castle!
Castle in German is Schloss and since it´s only a very tiny castle the people back then called it but a Schlößchen. It sits in the fields more or less (back then) and hence, field is Feld, the people called it "Feldschlößchen".
And when the brewery was build right opposite they decided to call themselves "Brauerei Feldschlößchen".
Makes sense, huh?
Last (not least, there is more) let me introduce you the first German female balloonist, Wilhelmine Reichard::
On August 9th 1818 she started in Braunschweig, all by herself!
The balloon was build by her husband and herself.
Cool lady, huh?
As Roberta Bergmann, the author and illustrator of the book - great idea, I think!

When Is The Best Anyways?
Saw this sign at our lille pharmacy, walked past, thought what...?, turned back to take a pic.
"Wohlfühl-Angebote for BEST AGER"
"Feel-good-offers for BEST AGER".
(Why, just why not "im besten Alter"??)
What kind of nonesense is this?
OK, now maybe the products give away what for a pharmacy are "best-agers".
Cause... when is the best age?
When you´re a kindy-kid you can´t wait for school to start, later for school to end, then to be of full age, it goes on and on, right?
What is the best age, 30-40?
I´m mid-fourty and happy and I don´t wanna step back cause I´d loose great things I encountered... but thinking I may have to work till 70+...
Anyhows, let´s zoom in what "best agers" are for a pharmacy, are you interested, too?
Let me tell you.. it did surprise me.
First product: a gel strong against.... head lice!
In the pic: A kid, maybe?
Next... Gingonin. To strenghten memory and concentration - shoot! I could´ve just needed that for the exam but I kinda read they mean "elderly"?
"Pearls & Dents"... is that for dentures?
Next row... more head lice... pic: older kid, parent???
Then... pain killers.
Something against dry eyes (hello, me again!).
High-calorie-drink to help you recover from severe sickness or when wounds don´t heal well.
Cancer-patients? Eldery? Obese?
Hm. On first glance I only saw the woman in the top picture who might be in her... well, who likely symolizes a retired person (yet working as a model, obviously).
And I was a tad... grumpy, thinking, oh, hey, not just yet another fake word for "old".
Like "forever young", "pro aging" and who knows what else such word-designers come up with - and likely just miss exactly their age group here in Germany cause many, like my Dad spent school days learning really the badly needed basics or hid in bunkers and hence speak no or very little English...
But, hey. This lille pharmacy where they really help and remember you, guess they mean to say that any age is the best age.
Do you read that into this as well?
Sometimes it´s better not to grumpily speed by, but stop and have a closer look and thought, right?
But how many actually do this and how many walk away grumpily at the guys after all?

I Gave In - Hope My Brain Does Not
At JB Hi-Fi in January I got Jamie´s 15- and 30-minute meals on DVD but now I decided to also buy the books as in the DVD he´s just too fast with how much of the ingredients.
Now we´re playing safe.
I also got Jamie´s America and that is quite a book!
There are many background stories and anecdotes. Can you imagine to cook a meal every day once you´ve turned 96 years of age??? To be THAT fit, huh!
The stories really make me want to pay America a visit.
But is Jamie´s America still there? Is it a differfent era now, I wonder.
Any opinions on that one?
The night 18th to 19th I dreamed my glasses were broken hopelessly.
By Dad was there and though usually in my dreams he´s half-transparent he looked normal - and without glasses I could clearly see him.
Usually he never says a word but this time he talked - just I couldn´t understand anything.
19th would´ve been my Mum´s birthday - any relations or just panic exam-related?
Yesterday the new boss came up to "wish me luck" for the exam. By golly, think he meant well, but the pressure sure rises through the roof now!
So, totally unlogical last night I dreamed of a very tame dog - I still was afraid of. Or let´s say payed high respect.
Spent all work-day learning.
Tomorrow the same until 10:30 and then off to the exam.
Hope my brain manages this time... It´s all not eaten as hot as cooked, right...

The Cloud
Well. I´m really not a fan of mixing languages, so "Cloud der Wissenschaft" hurts a bit.
What´s wrong with either "Wolke der Wissenschaft" or "Cloud of Science"???
10 years ago Braunschweig was elected "City of Science" and hence this year they celebrate by making science the subject again.
The head of this construction is a pneumatic foil cushion and I wonder why not fiberglass - just to make a point?
I also wonder why they chose the second half of September for it.
Entrance is free, that is nice, but it´s outside so likely cold, likely rainy.
You can find the program here.
I think it´s mosty for students, I start and end work very early and even I´d have to run.
Well, let´s see if we go.
Poor Henry is left out, kinda...
Pics from last Friday, pre-bee-sting.
Still looks bad, hand and arm.
I look like Kim Jong-un! No knuckles...
