The Sound Of Silence

So winter really returned.
Forcast says next Monday it´ll warm up again.
Luckily.

It might look nice, but it´s not the weather (for me) for brisk walking, so I take a break on it.

Or will I?

The only nice thing really is the silence, the snow, as little as it might be, eats up the usual sounds.
Feels kinda peaceful.

Just to sit like that is too cold for my liking, though!

Oh, spring, hurry up!
Can´t wait to see if ex-teamleader´s words will come true:
"Your strawberries´ll make it, just wait and see :-)"

Last winter that cold was 2010, as Ingo remembers.

NamSis e-mailed me privately letting me know my office will be moved March 1st (to hers) and that she´s forced down to 24 hours/week.
Rats are leaving the sinking ship...

I Didn´t Give Up

Remeber my sad avo?
Yes, that is the very same plant!

Ingo got sick of me complaining about my dry eyes, measured the humidity, which is with only 30% way too dry. Got an air humidifier et voilĂ ... the plants and I shared and are all way better!

Never give up on a living being, right?

By golly, real wood really is expensive! In summer we have the air dehumidifier running and now we get all the water back in!

But, yay, the avo is back! Took us 1 1/2 months!
And, yes, when the plants are really, really healthy they go into the window sill.

Nighttemps -10C - let´s just hope my strawberry-plants survived this...

Fun Place To Go

One of the rare hints on ENTE´s FB-site, this is the Kindergarten in Madamenweg.

Bet the kids have fun in this kindy :-)

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals :-)

A Last Chance

I do believe we have a chance, Ingo and I.
Looking at my friend who´s a widow with two young kids at age 40 freaks me out, though.
Who has a chance, huh?

We stood in line for some stupid and unnecessary two hours (!) in this:

See him?
I didn´t, but Ingo:

In the frickin`cold, the icy wind and all the noise from the trams and the peeps this bird just munched away!
I wish I could be that "cool"!!

We went to Rote Wiese and stood in line for two whopping hours to...

(Yikes, hard job to trade that in for Transperth!!!))
Yes. We´re back at footy.
American Football - no stupid soccer, don´t mix that up, please!
No police/security needed here, no waste of tax-money for this!

It will not be as fun as back then but MIL´s one-hundred bucks finally found a chance to fill me up ;-)
(100 euro she gave me as a real money to spend in Perth and it was "a tad" more than 100 bucks, too)

And for all the waiting (Germans! Football! No mess, all in line, "happily waiting forever"!) we got these for free:

They´ll always be the Braunschweig Lions to us and we give them a last chance, too.
What the heck.
To a good season, to FUN, right?

Happy Easter

Look at that, only three days after Ingo brought the daffodils inside due to the very cold temps at night they´re in full bloom!

As we call them also "Easter-bells" I herewith wish you an early Happy Easter ;-)
HA, April 1st - the joke this year is on you!

Ex-Teamleader, who grew up in former GDR and hence learned gardening at school, said when the leaves turn yellow to keep the bulbs dry and to put them in earth in September to have new ones the next year.
There you go, Ingo just brought some work home for me ;-)

Holy Cow

So I walked the 5km (to duck-hunt in the first place) and bought a couple DVDs by chance.
Came home, unwrapped the first, the second, the third,... uh-oh!

The fourth has no foil!
Uh-oh! And it´s empty, too!! Darn!!!

Ummm...

Holy cow, how did I miss that?!
So I went again yesterday (and found another "duck", too!).
The lady at the info said I´m not the first one and laughed :-)
(Like nicely, not mean)

Later I had an app in the city and stopped dead...

Will you believe this?!
Has someone forgotten this part of the Lechner-family???

Holy cow, do you have moments like these, too?
"Suddenly" seeing something that must´ve been there all summer already (or were they?).
A crazy day.

Hunting (Childhood Memories)

When I took off to hunt some more ducks yesterday it was sunny, yet with minus 3C really cold.

The mural on Messeweg was gone - a nearly 2km-walk for nothing, aw, well, at least I got this beautiful pic above, right?

I do wish the weather´d warm up soon, though!

I´m glad I don´t have a car anymore!

Since I started in darkness I had to also free the lights from the ice. Stiff, wet fingers and off in the freezing cold car - when walking fast you at least get warm, right?

I wonder...

Did the herbs survive? The night was -6C. Ingo brought the daffodils inside for the night and kaaa-boom, first ones started blooming.
They´ll stay inside for good now.
Better that than letting them die like George!

After lunch I wanted to get another duck in Bockstwete - the Food & Drink Bar´d been torn down!
In Hamburger Strasse the mural was painted over!

But, well, I found these instead:

My family´s garden was always full of those at this time of the year!
They made their way up through the snow and you knew: Days are getting longer, winter soon´ll be over!
Such a joy to find these!

And stats for the day: 306%, 28 820 steps, 22km, 2400 calories burnt :-)
The only good thing about the cold weather: Walk yourself warm.
Guess in 30+C this would´ve been much tougher!

(Dumb thing at ALDI at the cash out they had spekulatius-stuff for near to nothing which I bought and had some, alas! Does the sweet tooth wake up with age?! ;-)...)

A Thing Called Love

When you walk around with eyes open (and not glued to the cell like that ca. 9-year-old boy on his skateboard yesterday) you see a lot of love despite or even because of this cold weather.

Can be horses (sort of)...

Hubbies :-)

Or food!

Not all food, though, some are still looking for love or rather a (fateful) partner:

Sorry, I didn´t take it, I went for fresh green beans (as the ones in the can were best before 2016...).

Crazy, if by myself I can cook. I´m kinda "loving" it ;-)

Off to catch another duck. -3C, but sunny :-)

Out Of Place

... and it´s not Ingo.
I mean, really... Where do you need such a car in this region?

We just could not come up with where you could need a snorkel.
What´s with those extra lights on top and front?
Whom is the driver after?
What do we have in Germany? Looking for brocks?? Lynx, foxes, racoons, wolves? We don´t have them in masses, as far as I know.
Boars, deer?

Weird combo snokel and lights for around here.

We could´ve used it!

And, well, your car looks more like this but shiny clean!

What a mess, right?

I made one just again yesterday:

I did as described, used salt and dried more than once, but, crikey!

Something I won´t repeat!
I mean... under the right light, it´s just a mess. Out of place and far from "carbonara" ;-)

Another Duck Found

This is still Riddagshausen (see last post) and I was surprised to find this mural on my way back!
Maybe it´s an ode to Klosterkirche St. Maria as a ladybug in German is...

I just wonder what this is?

I love all those details.

And how he uses all objects to create the scenery.

Why a duck, you wonder?
For a change the artist is known!

Sadly only once in a while he gives away where you find his murals, so it stays a surprise to find one mostly.
Have a look here.
Linking again to COLOURFULWORLD for Monday Murals :-)
