Summer Rain - Happy Day
Yesterday was just a wonderful day!
Tuesday I saw my doc and... surprise, she signed me sick.
She´s such a motherly type I don´t know if I do have burn out or if she makes me believe it, but frankly, I don´t care.
So yesterday I had to hand in my sick note at the employment agency.
I´m slowly going back to getting up early and when brushing my teeth I heard a thump-thump-thump.
Yes! A lille summer-thunderstorm, even with some lightning!
Took a brolly just in case and took off after brekkie.
It´s a brisk 30 minutes walk and after 20 minutes the rain set in.
Thick, fat, warm drops of gorgeous summer-rain, awww, it was plain wonderful! Not much so I didn´t need the brolly to protect cell etc for the next ... 15 minutes - many had one, though.
I would´ve grabbed a cuppa and take place and enjoy if I lived there (or was home).
I was... now, that might surprise you - probably not... too early for Thomas Phillips, so I tried my luck and took a different route, hoping to not get lost.
And, guess!
Murals, murals, murals!
And also this:
4 years ago Tom-Finn aged 17 died there and still it´s not exactly known how or why.
It was early morning, he was drunk. Bike was found parked, chain off, as was his shirt - in November (cold). Cell was found nearby and he still had his purse. Probably it was an accident with a truck. Sad "story"...
At all shops I was people were super-friendly.
Well, who doesn´t love summer in May?! And rain!
I found more murals, but the last got photobombed, kinda:
At Amalien crn Celler it´s very loud so the lille fella didn´t even notice me.
Well, I got chicken and it was massively cheaper than on the weekend! Crazy.
I kinda have a "phobia" with ovens since a fellow student showed me her very fresh burning marks very unexpectedly.
Please, if you ever burn yourself: Do not show me, I might just pass out. Other wounds, no problem.
So... Jan´s California Grilled Chicken looks soooo yummy, I just had to go for it!
But... in the pan, not the oven and surprise: YUMMY!
Lid on top > cheese melts :-)
The first doc I tried btw had a time slot from 09:30 - 10:00 only, so I missed that.
Try again today. I´m in no hurry!

You Brunswick-Guys...
Pics still from last Friday morno when we took a tour via Ringgleis.
We found this lille place with bits and pieces of our city´s history.
It´s really well done and I think it´s a tad sad you only find this by chance - or is it sad?
It makes it a surprise route on the other hand, right?
This piece even was a bit funny:
"I think you Brunswick-guys do not even know what you have on the ring track. Your ring track is almost unique in Germany." Dr. Achim Bartoschek, expert for former railway tracks.
Well, actually, we do know.
The track is always quite packed, at least when the sun is shining. And partially really beautiful, there are murals, a lille library, benches to sit on...
Here you can see how it´ll look like once it´s finished.
Do you have something like this, too?
Here is the mill btw:
Among other you can have a nice Pizza there now.
Pizza and the worst beer ever.
Which is why we ordered wine instead, LOL. And never came back...

Klasse - Talk Op Platt
Last Friday I joined my family at Klasse wir singen, " (Class same as the word "great" we´re singing!) - grades 1-4 joining and Niece is in first class.
Well. Singing... not so much my cup of tea and masses of people even less but T said: go!
So I went (he´s a Grandad, he should know, right - yep, in former GDR peeps started early with having a family!).
For one: So.Many.People!!!!
So.Many.People!!!
Pushing and all :-(
And it was LOUD!!!!
WAY too loud for children´s ears if you ask me (but no one does).
The Domsingschule (where kids seriously learn how to sing) sang "Morning Has Broken", in English even (in my days you started learning English at grade 5).
Then all kids who knew a coming song were about to stand up and join.
There even was one in some African language (not Afrikaans).
"2 x 3 makes 4" let all kids scream "noooooo!!!!" and then she entered the stage:
There was also learning!
Now why do Germans not sing? Yep. The Na#is! They forced stupid stuff on people via songs and hence after WWII singing became unpopular!
Who´d ever guess, huh, not me!
And, since there were only four tickets and hence poor Ingo could not join (insert a big, relieved laugh from Ingo here), I captured this:
Yes, that is Plattdüütsch!
A dialect that slowly gets forgotten about. My Granma talked it. "Suutje", she used to say when I was too fast, "langsam", "slow".
Oh, do I miss her right now!
The event took place at Volkswagen Halle, the place and it´s surroundings were more than just PACKED!
Bus, bus, bus and more busses - right beside the cycling path (the foot path was full anyways). Packed with kids attending classes 1-4 (YOUNG kids).
And there really - no kidding - were in our small time-slot three very stupid cyclists ringing for their "right" to drive on the cycling path.
We´re talking young kids here!
The last one I yelled at and Niece jumped cause I never yell!
We then went to Okercabana to have something to drink, eat and make a snow sand angel :-)
All in all a great day :-)
Klasse, btw (in the sense of (not) great): Bro asked me to add a data privacy statement on his company site, as it´s the law now.
Just have a look (Datenschutzerklärung) - is it just Germany or do you have such a stupid nonesense, too???

ALOAH...
Mural found last weekend (again) at Okercabana, the artist is Olf Lupin and Niece asked why it´s so "old... painted in 2015"? The girl can read!
And, btw. The Okercabana exists since 2005, so a rather young mural after all, no?
I just wonder...
I hope for a great summer for a change, maybe she´ll smile someday?
Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals :-)

Love-Hate
Friday we went to hardware-store Bauhaus via Ringgleis (more on Gleis later) and found this piece above.
Yesterday we went to footy. American Football.
There is no security needed, but with soccer it´s very, very different. I just say one word: Hooligans.
Now, how did soccer come to Germany?
Yes. It was Prof. Dr. phil. Konrad Koch, born here - in Braunschweig, Brunswick - , working as a teacher here, introducing darn soccer.
I do love Braunschweig very, very, much, it´s become my home.
Soccer, you say, ah, not THAT bad, right.
Here I do have a very, very, very bad one for you:
"On 25 February 1932, the state of Brunswick granted Adolf Hitler German citizenship to allow him to run in the 1932 German presidential election.[29] In Braunschweig,...".
Right. He was Austrian, not German.
I love my town, my city, my home.
But two bad things for this country (the first) and the whole world started right here...
Do you "feel" with your home´s history?
I try not to (in everything, that is).
To American Football, it´s chess in fast! (With mostly sexy guys, too).

"New" Trick
You know the saying, take a brolly, there´ll be no rain, right.
Well, all those days it´s been so windy our sun-bolly took off and made a journey two storeys up even.
No.Wind.
Well, a wee bit, but not one sound the chime could produce, crazy (logical), no?
Beautiful view from my work-place through the window (I cleaned, btw! Hire me, too!):
Many more fun, crazy stuff to come, oh, you can pack sooooooo much into one day, it´s plain "making you breathless"! :-)
P.S.: It´s a high-quality-chime, too!

(Good) Jobs
Have a holiday at home in warm temps means work, right? After Ingo cleaned the balcony-floor he took to the glass-front :-)
OK, we shared this job, I started with the right one - wow, and you thought they were rather "clean" before!
There are jobs and there are jobs, no? Just the other day I was so proud of this chair and then, after brekkie I leaned in and....
My interpretation: After over 12 years the plastic was porose - maybe the chair just gave in to my weight, though, LOL!
Either way...
... thanks, red, but...
I´m lucky it didn´t give in totally, having me smashed to the tiles in the kitchen with the back of my head, right? (This pic is just to show off in a sunny place, not the rather dark kitchen.)
So... good job after all :-)
So sad Ingo´s holiday comes to an end already and he has (or may) get back to his regular job come Monday...

We Went Shopping
... at our nursery nearby, finally!
Five pots less than usual, though, but it still looks great, don´t you think?
"What does the inside of a fridge look like?... What does a cow drink?"... I know, not funny ;-)
But the cow says "Hi" after a long winter.
This really was only one pot of white flowers!
And here...
It´s more or less just across some streets, yet the violet ones don´t look good, I hope they make it!
Aaaand.. the green corner:
We hopefully need a lot of water this summer!
Noticed this to the left:
Looks familiar :-)
To a great summer!

THE Life
Monday - pentecost - we just went, after sleeping in, to Ölpersee - like loads of peeps!
On boats, by bike, on foot.... everyone was enjoying THE life in the sun!
So many peeps trying to catch a fish (or bathing some bait ;-)...)
There was yet another ice-cream-truck (see last post) - and, my.
Ingo might be right after all with the salmonella!
This one came from Peine.
You just never know... these days! Reckon some peeps in Peine got sick and he starts here all over? Why else the trouble coming all the way?
Very nice surprise was this one:
You only have to bring your own charcoal - well, and food :-)
Well, it´s not really hot yet, and the water must be icy still, but, awww, just have a look!
Don´t you just want to run and JUMP?
Don´t think so... In Germany... you do not decide for yourself....
BUT!
I thought I couldn´t believe my eyes on this one, not glued to a cell or such but....
Maybe there is hope, huh?
Later, after we overtook a couple in sports clothes - I was wearing thongs, btw! - Ingo stopped dead.
Guess.
He found two one-euro and a ten-cent-coin!
As our friend said, Find a coin and pick it up, all the day you´ll have good luck :-)
Whilst, the day before, I stopped in (thankfully dried) puke.
Alas, I should watch where I´m walking, right? ;-)
Aaaand...
Maybe we get some wood-strawberries after all! :-)
Now, isn´t this THE life?
