Addendum. Ingo states I often presume you know what I´m talking about and the first comment really proofed that, so here I add my answer, it´s not about grilled Pizza (though I´d like to try that!) It´s about burgers:
You not only get the best burgers at Grill´d, the meat is local and there are three jars at the exit. For each meal you get a token. If you share a meal you get two even (see blog title, we always share one). The
three jars represent three local projects, be it a kindy, school,
sport... you decide which one you want to support. Isn´t that a great
concept?
The burgers are yummiest, too. Expensive, yes, but you do so
much good! These places really get money! (Well, I haven´t gone there
to ask, but I trust they keep their promise at Grill´d).
Thank you, River, I need to learn to explain better!
OH! And if you visit Grill´d in Cnr King St &, Murray St, Perth and need to visit the loo... take your partner with you!!!
I went by myself and got lost on the way back!
One door I opened in "panic" led me to the deep garage!!!
I eventually made it back, as I still can tell the story.
Just take care. All grey, no concept, I felt like Alice in Wonderland.
(To top that my friends asked where I´ve been so long... buhhhh... 🤣)
Today at Die Maus I learned about another language.
I once had a friend in Cottesloe/Perth who was near to blind and I wondered how she poured water to the exact amount in a glass, walking in with that from her kitchen.
Yips, now I not only guess but know.
Finger, easy, huh?
Feel.
Another sense to read what you do.
The town-center of Magdeburg:
We also have descriptions in braille - post to come.
And I know there is one thing blind people need help with.
LOL.
Dog poo.
I had to drag her away to not touch the poo with her stick, we had a "good?" laugh.
Sadly she quit the friendship, I assume she fell in love with Ingo and left us both.
It was interesting to see how clean her home was, how - certainly - organized she was.
This girl in Die Maus, she even did karate!
I can see, but I could never do that! (I once tried Aikido - bummer, no...).
I have no idea what would be worse, loose sight or hearing, what do you think?
I lost like 50% of my right ear and need glasses to see properly.
Found this draft from January (can´t sleep. And before I toss and turn and wake Ingo, here I am...).
Pics are from this book - the children in WW II called the bombs that flew on them "Christmas trees" as they looked so bright in the night...
I bought this book as I like the author (never met him, but he lives here in Braunschweig) and my family never spoke of what happened. It´s understandable, but I feel I need to learn.
Met W just outside the door the other day (in January).
His face lit up and I knew... will take some time ;-)
In 2C we chatted for likely an hour! Or likely more, brrrr... c..c...cold!
It
was "good". As in... well. Thanks to "Corinna" you not always get what
you want (he came from grocery shopping) and he told me how HUNGRY he was as kid in WW II and that it
makes him a tad mad when people whine on what they do not get these
days.
OH BOY, THAT INCLUDES ME! No water for Ingo for days??? No coconut-milk???
Sometimes it was a bucket of (ordinary cow-) milk, he had to "organize" for the whole day... shared with family.
W grew up in the East, Danzig, Poland back then, like my family, a village near Königsberg, now Kaliningrad, Russia.
He saw people burning, hit by bombs.
He stopped there cause he knows I might collapse...
He saw people hiding under horse crates.
Stabbing dead horses for the meat. They ate it right there, raw.
If you think all Germans were Na#is, no.
He sat at a table with "The Russians" who shared a soup with him.
Yes, they were "enemies", but they saw a German/Polish hungry boy and asked him to the table.
It was cold, yet, even though there was material... it was not for the Germans...
And near to nowhere to get a warm place to stay...
W has a broken toe, too, but that man, 81 by now, sure hops on his bike!!!
We had a good laugh when he told me he forgot his purse/wallet, whatever you call that - happened to me also the other day!!!
With mask on you cannot THINK!
Isn´t it funny how we two always meet?
Same happened back then when his wife was still home.
Other neighbors, I meet near to never.
Ingo really a couple of times came out to look where I am, if something bad happened, when I "just quickly" wanted to go to stupid ole REWE for some cheese... He always found me with one or both.
W wanted to take his wife home over Christmas. Not possible. HOW SAD.
*Addendum... she is still in that nursing home, he never brought her home, he was not "allowed".
People gathered to see Henry being brought back, some cried for joy - this treasure was hidden in Goslar in a mine for safety (now he is "hidden" in castle Danwarderode due to pollution - the one I occassionally show is but a copy (but he does not know this, don´t tell him)).
Corinna. Pfffbt. Nothing compared to this. We have food and shelter.
Atm I read another book on Holocaust. I read many a book from (!) women who escaped bad situations, followed how gay people in Muslim states became refugees.
Again... what is war good for, why can´t we simply RESPECT one another as long as we don´t hurt one another?
I just sent a book to my Nieces - I will show you. It´s about ALL that, darn it, should´ve taken more pics (it´s about animals that communicate, of course! A children´s book, I´m not cruel or dumb).
20+ years on and I STILL have no idea what to use it for .. and nearly fell asleep, watching this video (I didn´t make it to the end, but give it a go).
Are you into Infinitesimalrechnung and if so, please tell me HOW! WHY? X2?
Asked my math-teacher what I need this for.
"So you can study".
What a dumbhead. Statics? What for? Torture pupils???
You call this different, calculus, but I think for once our name nails it.... you can "calculate" into infinity.
Some of you said you love her, I do, too, she has a great voice.
Back in the day... I got a "black copy" of her album from my friend´s Hubby.
We were at their wedding. We learned a dance for that, the simplest one (Fox-Trot?) .
There were a lot of guests, she went over and told me how she loved we made the effort and we do well, too (we both have two left feet, as you say).
She, as me, never wanted kids, then two girls came along.
I babysat them even, boooooy. Leave ME alone with kids!!! Twins!!!
All went well. I somehow managed (she went to take a shower!!! Like really going away!!!!)
They were older. When they came home.
He was 41 years of age.
Dead on the couch.
I always have to think of him when I listen to Norah Jones` songs...
Sadly the friendship broke away.
She is VW, I was but external and when I lost even that...
Ingo heard the same story, you work at Volkswagen / Audi and you are "better".
And shi#t on people who are not.
So be it.I´m not a garbage bin (she only turned to me when feeling bad - I was on meds, lost my job, felt bad, also - nothing to compare loosing your partner, but bad also).
He was a nice guy, had a heart failure we all knew about, took his meds always and still... BOOM.
I still enjoy her songs, Norah´s, but with a bitter taste.
Maybe you know I learned at age 14 from my Dad how to drive our BMW (5 gears)...
There are many words we use that you use differently!
A beamer... we watch movies with that/use it at school/uni - to you it´s my family car! A BMW!
Hey, how about - males preferred - take me to a restaurant (just in this example! Any girl I´m happy to join, too!! )
Please were a smoking.
???? (The name is from back then when men went to a separate room to smoke... in their tuxedos).
You call that "tuxedo"!!! Dumb us call it "smoking". And mind you, if I asked my lille Bro to wear a tux - he´d had no clue. it´s just not known here...
@ our parent´s silver wedding.
There are many.
The most embarrassing is...
See why I´m not into soccer.
Languages...
Mourning is a painful thing, I sure do know. To loose a loved one.
The dumb soccer guys .. you want to run and hide.
With "public viewing" they mean to gather in front of a public screen and watch a game of soccer.
I sometimes "hide" I am German when being somewhere else.
In Germany open coffins in public are ... not allowed, I guess.
Here is the German link, you can switch to English, I put it on because I think you would not believe the dumb- and respectless-ness...
Finally, to cheer you up, I share a drink for Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday"
One we did not share, as times are tough. He offered me, though.
27 years together and we had a fight over a drawer that was not OK according to Ingo.
And he even was right!!! I threw some stuff out, stuff we never use anyways!
Very sad. Is it Corinna, me not working and him hating me for that, hating his own work - I have no clue.
I sometimes (?) want to give up.
And certainly!
Stokolan is Ingo´s hand-cream - they had to order it, thank you, Corinna!
It´s like living in the past, things are simply not available!
I got a Ninja (post to come) - and happy mail, received and sent!
