10... 9, 8, 7...

Lisca inspired me with her T-Day post to show you  this book.
See... I was born in the early 1970s.

The wild times, the new times. The times where anything was OK! We were free.
I grew up in a small town and once, on a bus with my Grandma, I got all excited and went loud, "Look, Omi, a negro!!!"
And what did the man do?

He smiled at me :-)

This was no forbitten word back in the day!!!!

And this book, like in Lisca´s story...

Here goes:

One by one stays behind, this is a book about: be careful, stay together, life can be dangerous!

This book is banned now.
Why?
Because the children have skin of a dark color.
Weee. When I bump into something the part of my skin turns red, then blue, within days greenish... now who gets colored???

This book, which has such nice rhymes and meant NEVER any harm to any people is banned.
Can you believe this?
One wonders... why are the people not "banned" then also?
Why do they share and enrich our lives (those who are integrated, this is a huge subject these days of course, but none I wanna talk about right now!!! Please, respect this).

I grew up with The Cosby Show, a family I adored!
Their skin has a darker tone than mine, really? That was not the issue!
Faith, being fair, values, THAT what is was all about... for a German (white) kid.
Please don´t mention what he is accused of. It was a big... well. It will not steal away the fun and rich times I had watching this!
Wish my Dad would´ve been that fair!

OK, the book does not end the way I liked it, not even as a small kid and it is NOT color-related:

When the last one found himself left behind... he simply took himself a wife, cause being alone is not good.
Ummmm, excuse me?!
Luckily we have passed this stage!
And color does not matter anymore, either here :-)
Admin T is Turkish/one of those little boys of the book, grown up now. I have colleagues from India, living here (hating the cold time of the year), Chinese, studied with one from Lagos, ...

The world is one, color does not matter - why is this cute book banned?!
So glad I still have it.
To free minds.
Sadly, of course this does not work for all and I could - but will not - write about the other side (I did, on occasion, when it went too "dark" for me).

Colors, religions... why can´t we be but PEOPLE???

Henry feels not involved today...

What do you think - should this cute book be banned?

Here is the English lyrics, btw, the German version at amazon is "not available"...

Humanity ... I´ll never get it. We still have the war-guilt. My parents were kids in WW II...
And what is happening right now (again) - yet we care about such a book.

Also we love "these" people at sports, right? #American Football... for example.
"We" pick what we want.
Sorry, reckon Lisca wasn´t forcing this.
But imagine 9 people in such a tiny bed!!! No wonder this old book came to my mind!

P.S. to Tom´s comment: woke is not what I meant, not at all.
Being real is what I mean.
Who picks a color, no one! We are born the way we are - important is how we are raised, what we learn!
I picked Gurri, a winter-coat that is light red with white dots and makes people smile at me.
So... I am a happy color, right?
The darker your skin is the less you see bruises, btw. I often look like a rainbow, this is not nice!
It´s genetic. I often don´t even hurt! And people say, "ohhh, what happened there?!". Me: ???

And... banning books!!!!
"We"´ve been there!
"We" burned them! There is still a place in Braunschweig marked for us to learn to not do that!!!

Why not redo this book?
Have people of ALL colors in there?

From Mr. google: "Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination".
I am very alert. I see no reason to look at color and I wish religion was no matter, either!
As I said to Tom: Color of skin, to people I interact with.. has no meaning! Your heart, your thoughts, your acts, they do...

I think it is sad I get so misunderstood! I state something positive and ... this scares me a bit, also. Banned books are a horror to me, as treating people different because of the color of their skin. There are more than I want to (even one would be too much) whose "color" is "white" (yes, there are people with a genetic "issue" who are white. No sun, please, what a life! In Germany they are called "albino") - more than one who grabs a gun and shoots people for no reason. Black, white, orange, yellow... People, guys!!! Nice people, please...

T-STands For IT´s Halloween-Time

My monstrous ticket to Elizabeth´s T!
Who... who´ll travel `Straya soon... could resist this drink?!

The background might be a tad confusing... I think Thursday I´ll show you part is real!

 The journal:

Monday: Productive work day. Was so into work, missed half a meeting!!
M said not to worry, we just spoke Friday, phew.
Met K in the city for a croissant and a cuppa (see - another soul who is not into sweets much! She had a Laugenbrezel, also salty).
We said good-bye via hug and later she let me know she arrived home safely.
Reckon she is a friend now?

I´m an introvert, so making friends is really tough for me... the hug came from her, too...
1 session of training. Oh, come on, I walked a lot...

Tuesday: Was so into work, nearly forgot to WhatsApp my T! Got a lot done.
4 sessions of training and more Trek.

Wednesday: Good day. Very productive meeting(s).
Panicked for no reason. Female teamleader wanted to talk to me. I feared she has a "present job" for me, where I have to work at the customer, not from home.
Instead she told me female sub-teamleader M is very content with me and my work 😁
And I´m allowed to work longer hours till my minus ones are gone.
Even P, one of the two super-bosses agreed to this. Scared me a bit that he was involved...
(we´re a company of ca. 400 peeps)

Also she found it´s reasonable to not join the Christmas-party.
Just imagine I catch COVID there and that just before our long holiday...
4 sessions of training.

Thursday: Asked colleague J to have a quick look at the three designs I provided for him.
He skipped the chit-chat and we were done in under 5 minutes.
I call that a very productive meeting!
Got loads done, too.
4 sessions of training.

Friday: Work never gets boring. Soon I´ll have to test a new lecturer.
Actually I don´t want to. I know already way too much!
See, I´m VERY afraid of fire.
Glad I have an ex-firefighter who was even a breathing apparatus wearer as pro right here...
Still... afraid.
For ALSTOM I had to translate a document for firefighters.
Now a whole day on fire protection on trains.

Come January we´ll be on a train all the way to Frankfurt...
Why ever my teamleader thinks I belong to a group of 5 out of 400 is beyond me.
But, well, meeting 4 new colleagues - it´s a present-seminar, not online.
Had to get reminded a long weekend is up. Gah, I get forgetful! Sadly weather will stay icky.
4 sessions of training.

Weekend: Saturday: Slept in. We made kale (Grünkohl) one of the few good things in the icky season! Sadly Ingo used way too much butter.
4 sessions of sport. In a row. Feet hurt! Only mid-end November I have the app at the dr...

Sunday: One more hour of sleep presented by stupid German government.
2018 they said we give up on Summer-/wintertime and stay in summertime. Might take two years. I´m not that good at math, but...
Ingo filled out visa-forms. Post to come.
Other Löwenzahn, Die Maus, well, quiet. Die Maus:

Munch-wise... I DID (!!!) take a pic of the kale, but it´s gone"!
Hence an homage to my late Grandma:

Halloween, right?

"Art-wise":

So for the pumpkin:

And Ingo came home with these just now - aren´t they just eerie-sistible!!!

Ingo picked the one where the poor pumpkin was deeeeep inside, so no one bought these flowers otherwise... Ingo has a good eye on those who need help!
Do you have an idea how much I love all this and Ingo´s attention?

Last not least:

Henry 🦁

I was right there, above Mr. Pumpkin with the witch-hat!

P.S Lisca made me do this post by accident.

Where To Go?

Some last ones from the carousel at Magnifest... are we home soon or...

I have a day off since Tuesday is a public holiday in our region.
(And what happened? Stupid alarm went off cause I forgot to put it off!)
Plan: Baking 😊
Low carb Onion cake and pizza muffins with eggs as base!

I cannot wait to retire! There is so much to do - but I love my job, too!
LOL. Retirement might be up in... 20 years? Glad I love my job.

How about you?

Enjoy Every Day

I feel like I need to gag.
When I was young I loved the series "Friends".

It´s controversial.
I was into flat-sharing as student and afterwards and sometimes we were "friends"... kinda.

Bro knows I love to watch in the original so he presented me to my Birthday with the series on DVD. I loved it!!!

Now I´m too far away. 20 years have passed, I still have the DVDs, of course.
And I was shocked.... FB presented me this:

I was born three years later, he is practically my age.
What did he do with his life, why did he look so old and.. I just don´t wanna know.

He gave me loads of laughs.
And now he is no more.

Henry feels too sad and sick to show up.

Lesson learned: Enjoy every day...

Lille Family Time - The Clock

Maybe you´ve visited last Sunday, in case you did not: I was very surprised to see this beautiful clock in our living room, see:

(left an Aunt, right Mom).
Why it surprises me so much?

Because...

My parents among other also sold clocks.
And this one still had the price-tag in!
Why in? The clock didn´t work. I gave it to Bro´s watch-maker, who, btw learned at my Dad´s and knows me since I was born.

After a year of him doing nothing I said I want it back. And that´s how I got it back :-(

I found out:
"The amount/price you stated in Deutsche Mark in the amount of DM 242.00 from the year 1974 corresponds today, taking inflation into account, to a price in the amount of a Euro value of: EUR 413.26 ".

Bummer - imagine it would work - well, I´d never ever give it away, but... quite a treasure I have here, huh?

Hm, so it was too expensive and they decided to keep it?
But why leave the price-tag on?
Maybe as a reminder that Seesen is a town too small for such luxury-clocks?
Sad I cannot ask.
Bro is 5 1/2 years younger than me, he will not know, either...

More to come...

Funny btw... as kid/teenager I hated the ticking of clocks!
Now I have 5 clocks that happily, loudly tick away every second.
Whilst I work in hence not so complete silence.

Time... we are back to wintertime. What stupid nonsense...

Fearless Bird

I love crows, or ravens - I never can tell the difference.
Or other... I like the German ones a lot, but I really, really love the Aussie, chatty ones!
(I just needed to buy this bookholder ).

With this I join Eileen´s Saturday Critters
And wish you a  great weekend and a Happy Halloween soon!
Here it will be a long one even! Tuesday is a public holiday, so I took Monday off.
Ingo has the whole next week off.
Sad the weather is so icky...

FFO, Smiles And... A Shoppingtour - Trick Or Treat

With Halloween just around the corner I have something creepy for you.
Not creepy enough? How about this?

After all Nicole with FFO asks, "Now show me your face".
OK maybe not that literally? 😉
This is a so-called cloth-mask, a tad too big for me... And before you creep out, this one "gets" a treat!

With this I say Hi to Annie´s Smiles.

Some more funnies:

I had some encounters with real ones. They are cuuuuute.

Henry 🦁

Have a happy Friday and weekend everyone.

A For Now Good-Bye?

Monday I went to the city to meet K for a cuppa.
On the way is a public space with grass.
An elderly couple made it their garden and as everyone enjoys and respects  the flowers the city let´s them cultivate it.

💙💛... may the war end soon and leave us with a free Ukraine...

Another dull day here, so these pics are nice to look at.
Look... to right on Gauss-bridge and you find this...

I turned right into the park to find this...

And after the cuppa...

If you happen to be in the Northern hemisphere and have to face the dark, cold half of the year I hope you enjoyed this late happy good-bye from Mother Nature.
