Who Is Thomas?!

... The Wedding II

For those who know my Bro this will be no surprise: "I´ll be there at 1 to 1:30." Half an hour later it´s 2:00 and he was there a bit after 3... in Jeans and Sweater! We decorated the church in the very last minutes and had to improvise, too.
No surprise, actually!

Beautiful, no?

I dunno what happened, but shortly before the ceremony started I heard my dear Bro telling the Pastor that, yes, he has a second name.
Because...

My first boyfriend´s name was Thomas. We liked to play a lot, but at 6 I always had to go home. So, I thought, when my Bro was born, we simply name him Thomas also and he sure will be as fun to be around with.
It must´ve been a very deep wish of mine - his second name is Thomas, and, sorry to all the Thomases in the world... but it´s more a collective term than a name (I have two in my team, btw, both guys are fun, too :-)!)
My Bro doesn´t like the name much.

The Pastor did a great job! Free speech mostly, he said their story sure was an adventure (it was!)... and when he came to the serious part...

You guess it!!! Bu-hahaha!!!

The Bride´s father very loud and astonished interrupted, "who is Thomas?!!!"

Oh, dear Bro, I´m sorry (kinda)! :-)))

My Mom´s Brothers and Sisters haven´t changed in the last 7 years, one of them, though, I haven´t seen in over 25 years... looks like my Brother! Weird! The name-sign my Bro took to the Airport wasn´t needed!

We had the yummiest food!

Ingo did the greatest job "selling" my prices, really, he surprised me a lot!!!

We had the job to get the pressies and left-over food the next day (or, let´s say in the morning) - was heaps!
Back in Braunschweig we "found" the Wedding-Soup still in Ingo´s car - 5 yummy liters!

And so much more my SIL packed:

Including the cake!!!
Though we both don´t like sweets, we certainly didn´t want to bring them bad luck and ate it!

Uhhh, so sweet....

Haha, whilst we were packing the food, SIL asked, "you want cutlery?" (Besteck)
Me.. ????

Not Besteck, she spoke of Gesteck, the bouquet!

It was a great day and night and those two looked so,so happy and beautiful!!! :-)

Life is goooooood!

T STands For Grey Times

The only Christmas-Market I can bring to you so far is this beer, with which I join Elizabeth´s T.
The whole week was grey, grey, grey and cold, I cannot remember how many weeks I have not seen the sun.
I cannot remember any time where it was that grey in a row.
Everything seems grey. Especially economy, or everything.

The journal:

Monday: I am to do a further training that takes 10 months, but I have 3.
fK explained before I did something real dumb.
Very sad: Her son said, "now you cannot send Iris any more pics of Max..."
He is 13. Some teenager, huh? He´s as tall as Ingo btw. Not finished growing taller.
fK never took pics of her old cat Max, but then for me and hence they have some memories visual. We give and take.

Tuesday: Procrastinating-me finally called for help with the taxes and asked back for the name of the lady I had on the phone! She was supernice.
Because "Iris" is a very common name my e-mail-address starts with my second name and hence they have me with that. She said, no worries, that´s just in our portal, phew!
Bought myself two more days!
And could eat!
The tomato-sauce I made was pink - after it cooked - a beautiful red and yummy. Chemistry.
Job-center gave me a number but my teamlead has to do it all for me.
2 problems nearly gone in one day.
So far.
Icky, grey, rainy, though. It that yellow thing from the sky gone for good? 🌞

Wednesday: Our CEO was so positive in the meeting, future looked brighter. And then fE, who said she has a job for me.... reckon I am terminated.
I must clarify but am devastated right now. To lose the colleagues, the trains...
Ingo. Yelled at me cause I could not eat after those horrible news. No one here for a hug.  In good times and in bad. I must´ve misunderstood something.
Other:

Miss the heat (and Cottesloe, the Indiana... for you Fahrenheit-guys, Perth had 104F, we freeze at 35F)

Thursday: At my project former teamlead was on the website, so I asked fL (we know each other in person - I mention this because many a colleague I only know via teams)  if that´s wanted (yes).
She is afraid to lose her job, too, and somehow she asked how old I am.
"52". -  "WHAT????!!!!"
Darn, I just laughed. Should´ve asked what she thought how old I am (she thought much younger). Will ask next time we meet.
Three years ago I still had to show my ID to buy a beer at the grocery (it´s allowed once you hit 16).

Friday: See here, if you like, it was AMAZING. And I might be safe.

Weekend: Saturday: Ingo: "N24 Doku- about Ferris."
(I was so full from the lamachun-piece I stayed in front of my PC and watched.)
....".... blablabla in a round circle...blablabla".
I cringed, got up, ran into Ingo´s room and kinda "yelled": ROUND CIRCLE????? Ingo flipped, too...
(Aren´t circles always round?)
He went to bed before 08 p.m.- reckon the rest.
Sunday: Ingo left me a mess in the kitchen, I cleaned up.
TV: Railway, what else. At least something nice.

Munchy, yum:

The new series:

"These inventions are older than you think

Epidural anesthesia

One of the most important decisions you can make about giving birth is whether to get an epidural anesthesia (PDA) to relieve pain. This local anesthetic procedure has been available for much longer than it has been offered to patients. The first epidural was administered as early as 1853, but due to a number of factors, including the risk of paralysis and harsh church criticism, it was not used in the delivery room until 1943."

FFO And (I Try To Give) Smiles

This is how fK sees me. Pic taken by her in Hanover felt ages ago.
How I see myself... this is a face, for Nicole´s FFO:

... wearing a mask. I try and try. I want...

Think I am "the redhead", the Anglerfish. This is a female.
See the REDBACK in the background?
Nearly really touched one at Lake Andrew in Darwin in 1995....

And now I am at this:

 My life is upside down.
I got a letter, mailman Ingo put it on the table,

Didn´t touch the letter.

Yesterday fK called. And, since we´re not in the 70´s anymore ...

... remember this? I´d like to give you a smile for Annie´s meme with this...

The phone I use is white though and I can walk around and "found" the mail.
Yesterday.  April 10th.  From Big Niece it was!!!
Wanted an answer on April 7th.
Face I made:

Sorry I don´t have such a sweet face and sorry I cannot answer on April 7th like that.
Also Bro´d invited me a while ago to Big Niece´s "confirmation".
Which is strange as my family actually is into science.

I am open, though, Bro married in church (wife wanted this), I was his witness and did not get burned upon entering the holy place.
Yes, I am joking.  I did not get burned, but "God" really had a joke.
I love that black woman, really:

The pastor: "Do you ..... (thinking, remembering.....") Thomas K..."
FIL to be yelling, "NOW, WHO IS THOMAS????!!!!" - bride to be as surprised and I am shrinking away.
This is my Brother´s second name. Because.

Meep.

See. I was 4 years old. And I was told I get a little Brother.
So far I was an only (unwanted) child and only knew from friends how it is like to have a sibling to play with.
When I got home my parents talked business.

So... I begged (I can be persistent) to name him Thomas like my best friend, because...
soon we can PLAY, right?

Diaper-changing was more my task.

This letter from Big Niece now had two days as in dates as the 15-y-o also finally gets... read: baptized.
WHAT?

You see. I am married, too.
Ingo did not propose.
It was like; "Look, you inherited and if you die first the state takes away your belongings, mostly, unless we are married".

I did not have a super-expensive "robe/dress", mine was bought two days before we actually got married, it was AUS$ 7,99 (the shoes 13,99, both from K-Mart).

Ingo got me flowers, "they looked so sad".
Sad are my studies, also. Yes, I say "also", not "too". (not only German grammar, huh).

I DID for real what I am studying now.
Customer in the back - give me Monday! And now I learn how to do it. I wanna laugh, I wanna cry, I fail, I ask, I get no answer. I cry some more.
For YEARS I bought the EINSTEIN-calendar, learn something every day!
Crap this year!

BUT!!!!!
A funny to end with for a maybe good weekend:

The series:
"Are these the worst decisions in history?

Please understand. I go step by step through a series... click the link above, if you like.
Please, also never blame "The Russians", "The Germans"... my maternal family fled "the Russians and hid the Jews",   ... blablabla

We are PEOPLE. Just some are ass#oles..... "the series" gave me this:

 Napoleon's Invasion of Russia

Napoleon Bonaparte invaded Russia in June 1812, convinced that his Grande Armée of more than 450,000 men could defeat the troops of Tsar Alexander. But he did so against the advice of his generals and neglected the impact the vast distances would have on his supply lines, as well as the ferocity of the Russian winter. Thousands of French troops froze to death, many more died of starvation and disease. And a large number fell victim to enemy artillery."

 Balls, guys?
Am I glad to be a woman, I do not have balls (or do I... I managed a lot).

Henry 🦁

Play German. There is no "The Russians", the "Whomever".
Sorry, I´m having a not so good time... But I wish you a good one 😘

I REALLY dreamed I was rich and got my Steinweg back.
We had a HOUSE (not a condo) and I "played"....

Kiss Me, Thomas

At first I had no clue, but then remembered the reporter, who took pics for the lille newspaper. I hated this.
I grew up in  a small town.
My parents had their own business. My Dad was a watch-maker, optometrist, goldsmith and also took care of hearing aids, my Mum was a watch maker and learned the other stuff on the run.

Our name is Kaiser. Funny, huh. "Emperor". In a small town.

And I was not only the smallest, but the shyest kid in kindy.

So our teacher decided, to get better, I will be the princess in the play "Sleeping Beauty".
I was devastated!!
I had no text at all but two kids had to carry me outside at the end on a chair (wobbly experience!!) and I got to dance with the Prince .

He was my best friend, his name was Thomas, he made it all doable...

The rose-hedge grew over 100 years, right.
Guess who was the hedge.

My BIL!!!
I never knew, we were in different groups in kindy, but unlike me he took his job very serious, as Ingo told me.
He took the pappmache-hedge home and practiced in front of the mirror how a hedge grows, slowly, bit, by bit.

At that age - and still now!!! - I always wanted a cat. It never happened.

But I had many a Thomas in my life, one I have every day still.

None kissed me 🤣
But one sang the Russian alphabet to me!
And let me drive his brand new company car after I crashed mine and he took me to work and back two weeks!
Last day he RAN to his car and slipped into the passenger seat so I HAD to drive.
For in case I get scared... he is there.

Now you know why my Brother´s second name is Thomas, huh.

On his wedding the pastor - and this is no joke!!! - asked the to be bride if she will marry Thomas Kaiser.
FIL to be yelled, "now who is Thomas?!!!!"
Whoops. My bad 😂

Blonde.... No More

(Pic: my 7th birthday. Mum insisted on having a party. Great. In January here you cannot play outside, so we had to play stupid games like this to "pass the time".
I´m cutting chocolate with glovies on and my friend to the left had the dices that told me how many pieces. "Fun"...)

P did a lille research yesterday and found out my second name, Flavia, means flaxen blonde.
I nearly laughed my head off.

Because that really was my hair-color as kid, a reddish blonde.
Obviously my Dad had no idea and wished for blonde.

His father died of heart attack when Dad was only 14 years old. So he only saw the brown hair.
He himself, when he grew a beard... red.
My Mum... hair was colored blonde.
Her Father... red.
My Brother´s beard.... red.
Nieces reddish blondes.

Sorry, Dad, no real blondes in the family.
He had this as "dream":

Nope.
Also. I mostly wear jeans or a skirt and my nails are short. And you only find me on the floor doing my training to prevent scoliosis getting worse.

Oh, thank you, P.
It was funny.

I once wanted black hair. The flaxen made me look like an aubergine, awful!!! Really awful!
My friend went to the store to get something to get the color out.
I then looked like a carrot, or an orange!
I liked it, so for years Ingo colored my hair red with Henna.

I got slack with that, too much work and one day asked my friend to look very closely as I didn´t see a change in the mirror. She said there was none.

At the hairdresser I asked, she had a look, too, and said, nope, that´s your natural color.

Shoot, all the time and money with the Henna-stuff! Money for nothing ;-)

But, Dad, I use this second name for logging in etc as "Iris" is too common and mostly always taken already.
You were a wise guy after all.

Henry 🦁 ... "hey!!! You 'white me out!'"

That is my real hair color above, Dad would be sad.
Yes, two posts again. I get up early and have the time and the "Flavia-thing" needed to get out.

T STands For TP And A Second MouTh

Let´s go backwards, shall we?
I have... too much food. And too much time. And I learned to cook and bake hence.

Crispy at least... just why did I buy...

 ... fatty bacon?! Ewww. SO.Much.Fat.
But... bought, prepared, eaten. Thank you, Mum. I pay for "failures", I do not waste food.
And I had to take care of the pickled gherkins. And the eggs.

And let´s get "deeper"....
In these crazy times you see peeps with TP ALL.OVER.

So, Corinna...

I bought cheap oil pastels and .. .when you see "Corinna" in the news every evening. Every. With numbers. Since two years...
They show the darn virus as this grey ball with red "thingies".

I needed to get it out!!!

And got TP and the Singer sewing machine out.
Yes. I bought this summer-toilet paper...

"Summerly smell" - all we got from this "summer" is TP!!!!

... or do you prefer flowers?

Back to "summer". TP and "yummy"... hm????

Ingo brought a cheapy, that´s what "they" see at work...

Even the Singer could not take it!

These...

... do peeps really buy such earrings?!
And wear them, too???
Well. We need to laugh about the craziness, right.

The weekly...

Monday I had... well - see start: eggs with that bacon. Tastes great but smells so icky - I left it  in the pan for as long till the fat got crispy. Too much energy wasted. Put the rest after ripping off the fat into a dish I´ll show you next T-Day.

Tuesday called Wee One on her Birthday (7). She was having cake so blabber-mouth was done quickly, LOL. Having the biggest piece (the info I get...!) is much more important, of course. Sent a parcel to a person who helped me big and wanted no money.

Wednesday... baking with where the rest of the bacon went and the sewing you saw above. It was really fun! Why didn´t we learn sewing can be fun at school? There it was plain horrible.

Thursday my real-estate man called me yet again!!! My parcel had arrived 😁
Other just reading and Sport, same went for Friday.

Saturday Ingo went to the market. In the dark. I was to sleep in. With Corinna it makes no sense to go with him...
No pumpkin he brought home. The market guy said: No. They are crap this year, I don´t sell any. They chatted because he knew ... saw whom he was talking to... no masks in the end.
DISTANCE!!!!
It was but 4C / 39F,  brrr...

And I made kale, the first of the season!
My T certainly informed me he´s had it the weekend before. Bah. LOL.

Sunday: Die Maus and Footy. This is the second year we are to watch American Football on German TV!!! I still dance when I see it!
Imagine.

Huge screen in a shopping Center in Joondalup, Perth.
Footy on TV and two guys standing there, hands closed to fists, arms moving, so excited, watching.
Yep, that was us! 🤣 We were the only ones.
And now we have that RIGHT HERE!!!!

The quote at the end says: "A big person is who does not loose his childish heart".
I might be small by height, but... HEY ... I AM BIG BY HEART!!
Just ask my "lille" Bro - I drive him nuts at times... I´m childish...

Well, and maybe you´ve seen yesterday´s post.
Hilarious.

For hours yesterday I did have a second mouth indeed.
Called the bakery 06:38, had some kale for brekkie, went to real (shop) to buy a Halloween-ghost.

It was still dark. Irony struck. At axe-murderer-way - this once was a shortcut to ALDI... a woman on her way back got killed by a man with an axe....
Well... see...

This is not from my heart, this is from my face.
From my second mouth.
As usual I was going fast, in the dark got stuck by, I think it might´ve been a fallen bike (kids drink there at night), fell on my left knee, both hands in broken glass, chin followed.
A person - also on ghost-hunt? - helped me up and I felt something warm running down my chin, decided to go home.

It all happened so fast! It didn´t even hurt. I didn´t dare to look in the mirror. It didn´t stop bleeding, so after a few hours I decided I cannot walk the 2 km to the bakery and called Ingo he will have to get his bread himself.

He came straight home... cause... I never call for help when I can manage by myself. He thought it must be something... I thought, it´s nothing, probably....
When Ingo saw me he got my shoes, coat, grabbed me and off we ran to the doc.
No need to wait, I got in instantly, hups.
They turned on the big light and told me I have a second mouth and not "nothing".... 4cm wide.
Got three... I thought stitches, but it was anesthesia, three! Wanted to go, cause thought the job was done, LOL.
My Bro once bit his tongue, got sewed with three stitches.

My whole face is swollen and boy, it hurts!
Knee.... owwww and... When the doc asked if I´d lost a tooth or two I thought she joked.
She did not. My upper teeth bumped so hard into my lip... I can still feel them!

Don´t go fast in the dark!
My hands hurt, I really fell into a broken bottle.
Well, but at least I got a shot against tetanus. My body was so numb, I didn´t even feel it!

Got home and fell asleep.
Ingo woke me: Do you know a certain Mr. B?

WHAT A DAY!!!
I was still numb in my brain and Mr. B calls cause he might have a job for me, I blabbered with a thick lip, wasn´t able to remember the name of his colleague, who next spoke to me and I ended with "have a nice weekend".

There are days and there are days, huh...

Well, as this is for Elizabeth´s "T Stands For Tuesday"...

 Boy, I´m done.
Wrote an e-mail, explaining the "nice weekend"... to Mr.B....

Henry 🦁

"What are you doing?!"

Addendum... Mr. B answered... all good, no worries.
Wish me luck, please!
