There is a The Simpsons-episode on this. Just saying...
For the Dinner-Part:
Sooo quick and yummy!!!!!
As a kid: No.
I HATED butter.
And truffle??? In the 1970´s???? In Germany? No way.
I was too small and sent to a camp to gain weight.
One row for "us", one for the "big ones". Made friends with a boy and we always traded.
Surprisingly we were allowed to sit together!!!!
Kids are not dumb!
He didn´t lose, I didn´t gain but we talked and played nicely. I turned five there. >
No internet (hahaha. So sad. I´d like to know what became of him? I don´t recall his name.)
Known to absolutely everyone: the word "kindergarten." It's a bit unsettling, though. Are children being planted in the garden, or what does it mean? In English, a translation seems to have been rejected outright and the word simply kept as it is. So that any misinterpretations can be pointed at us Germans.

It would be so nice if you and that boy could meet as grown-ups. But if you don't remember his name, it seems impossible
Sadly I really do not remember. It was a tough time my brain let go off... of? I think my studies drive me nuts in any language....
I loveeee your painting Iris-hugs
kindergarten was explained to me as a place for children (kinder) to play and learn (garden).
You had peas and butter for dinner? nothing else? That sounds boring. I would add a couple of brussels sprouts at least.
...rattle those pots and pan!
Thank you, Kathy, hugs to you and the lake!!!
In GDR the kids really learned to "garden" - we in the west did not...
Truffle butter does the magic, soooooo yummy!
I sadly saw the The Simpsons-episode in German only but Bart sure did a GREAT, LOUD job!
Just peas? You have such a tiny appetite! I wish I could trade you for a while! We had trout, hush puppies, salad, and a corn-kidney beans medley, which I didn't eat because I was stuffed. The trout was so yummy, salad partly from the garden, so yummy too.
Kindergarten today is pretty much like first grade, not really a play place. Kids have to be able to count, know their alphabet, write their name, know the primary colors...all the things I learned in first grade, because there was no public kindergarten back then.
Most peas aren't my thing, though ok in rice or certain foods.
... and truffle butter!!! Soooo yummy! And quick, that´s the key here atm...
Yes, horrible what kids have to learn these days and early on!!!! My friend has twins, ages 14, horrible work-load they (all) get!!!
What for????
I love peas. I wish the hubby did. And kindergarten works for me. Garden is where kids play, right? So kids play area is how I look at the word. Happy Thursday. hugs-Erika
Henry in a classic David pose!
I love peas but have never had truffle butter, Iris.
Love your pans and the peas with truffle butter sound so good! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Many things Ingo likes I do not, so what? He prepares his food, I mine, all good! Go for peas, hugs!
LOL. Henry, huh!
I love peas, always have. Here they have mushed peas and they are smashed up and we didn't care for them. I still eat the regular ones and they are frozen.
Yum yup I like peas, B hates them, I don't understand that, if I could I'd put them in all my cooking.
Cute drawing. When you say truffles, I think of chocolate 🤣
RedPat, you must try the combo!!!!
Thank you and that butter is from heaven!
Mashed up sounds yummy, too!
Things Ingo does not like I do but for myself! :-)
Yuck 🤣
Your story brings a smile—how childhood memories can be so vivid and full of little adventures, even around something as simple as food. It’s those moments that shape us and become part of who we are. Thanks for sharing a bit of that with us. New post: www.melodyjacob.com
