Find A Solution (Or Two, Three...)

This was 2020 - and Wolfsburg.
My T told me it takes place in Braunschweig this weekend - no idea if we´ll go.

Yesterday was tough again.
I tried to help teamleader Frankfurt and took bad advise.
He was mad at me, for a sec only, then started "mimimi-ing".
But... he fails to help. Me.

He even forgot I am with him on teams - I heard it all, but did not understand.
I don´t speak Ukrainian, but the woman on the other line started crying, it broke my heart.
He´ll help her and her kids.

Teamleader Denmark flipped a bit - but said if there are troubles in his project (all very good) - I can call him in his holiday - he´ll put the beer to the side and try if he can still read, he´ll help - joke, of course! The 🍻🍻 -thingy. The rest was real.

Then sub-boss called. Uh-oh!!!! 😱
I think I convinced him the problems not being my fault - no answers cause... hello!!! Most are on Easter-holiday! And SharePoint broke down! But I found workarounds, yet still no one knows how to handle it all.
I started a checklist and suggested templates and he liked that.
Could show him what I prepared already, too. Whilst working.
He said last meeting he heard my spoken English is "excellent" - thanks also to you!!!! - and I am to not mail but call.

Talking, especially to strangers, and not seeing them, was a horror.
But. They called me so often out of the blue now... I´m used to it!!!
And I learn so much!
X from Spain called me upon a document and by golly. I nearly kicked out another Dead Man (this time Asbestos - who talks about that anymore?! I thought it´s a joke, huhhhhhh...no!).
People from around the world at times share their private life via teams a bit even.
Hence I know in that part of Spain it is warm - whilst we still freeze our butts off.

Gosh, I am that old I have the experience, right?

Told sub-boss N will help on Monday, he made more suggestions and next...

Teamleader ESE contacted me, asking how I´m doing and on my answer said she is "very proud of me" (happy dance) ... and... she didn´t expect anything else from me. Hm... happy dance slowed down a bit!

I try to go into the weekend without thinking of it too much, as teamleader Denmark advised.

There is hope. Right? 🌻💙💛

Addendum!
Jeanie, thank you so much - that is indeed a great way to approach my teamleader Frankfurt  just one more time!
To let him know my job is at stake! I have a hard time saying my things are important, too, especially in this situation...
Sadly I´ve been told he neglected his job since years and maybe even does not have the knowledge he should have!
And.... he just ignores job-related things, mostly.
Carola, the war is in the news (we watch Pro7) but just as a side line, mostly.
At first it was nearly the whole news and now... "oh, btw...".
And it is a shame how Germany "helps".
William... everybody swears ... and big! I sometimes sit here and think, "hello?! Are you serious?! I don´t even do this in private life!"
BUT! Better this than choking your anger down. At my old company I hardly ever heard a laugh even. After swearing we laugh a lot here.

You work very hard (I remember your final studies to be an engineer ). But today for the most young people the "work life balance" (to be lazy) is more important!

You remember because you helped! As the whole flat.
These days you work by yourself on a PC (or whatever) - back then it was real paper and passe-partouts and all that.

I am sorry, I kinda still disagree. This is his passion, work never was, I learned.
But for once his other talents are useful and saving real lives.

I agree that you work very hard and I would add that you are coping very well with all the different people and their different ideas and ways of doing things. I'm proud of you.

River, thank you :-)
I hope it pays off.
As conclusion for in case it does not, I learned a lot again at least!

...your team leaders need to go back the leader school!

Only the main one, the other really does care...

Dealing with people can be hard. I had a coworker try to run me out of my teaching job once, and then, when she didn't succeed, I had to work closely with her for another 20+ years. UGH!!!!! Don't let it get to you and be tough with them. Don't let them knock off your confidence. Many times those folks want to try to put their work faults onto you to make themselves look and feel better. If they think they can get to you, they try to.You know that though I am sure. I am just preaching to the choir as they say. Be strong, and relax and enjoy your weekend. Easier said than done sometimes, been there, done that. Hugs-Erika

20+ years?!!!!
I had a colleague we really did call as#hole. after 3 years I refused and lost my job - luckily in the aftermath.
I was so aggressive, work was no fun.
And when the next could-be-boss asked if I could manage - he´d seen others... well.. I said no.

The problem is... this one is sweet and caring - but just for the things his priority is on - and that is not his job.
He leaves the project anyways.
Aw, well, to a happy weekend, hugs!

When you said "bad advice" near the top of the post, I was hoping it wasn't mine but it doesn't sound like it. I hope it will work out well, Iris. It sounds like the others are working WITH you and on your side, so that's a very good thing. Just hang in there and remember, they wouldn't have hired you if they didn't think you were up to the job and so far, it seems they're good with you.

Just relax and have a wonderful weekend. You deserve it!

It sounds busy.

I try to relax and worry about nothing on the weekend. Sometimes it works but not always. ;-)

Sound busy and a bit crazy.

Sounds like you're doing very well, at least you're trying and your boss is happy with your progress, can't do more than that.

All of this makes me quite happy that I don't have to go to work each day!
