Thanks to River we made it onto this beauty in time.
Here are some data:
Average train speed was 85km/h, max 115km/h, the nice bartenderess found out at average speed the train needs but 1 km to come to a full stop in an emergency - not sure if that is correct as the train has a length of 731 metres and some whopping 1390 tonnes.
I mean really. I never saw the train in one piece!!
Asked fellow traveler Andrew, who also worked with trains once, on which he asked back, "What kind of emergency do you expect?!" - "A heard of stubborn sheep?" - and that was when the train stopped, no kidding (a freight train needed to get through).
Him:"haha, your sheep!".
Anyhows, maybe you'd like to see the "luxury" of our cabin first....
Yes, we had but bunk beds! Ingo was so kind (as all men, I found out) to take the top one.
Have you ever taken a shower on a train? Was a first for me. Worked!
Ingo does not "allow" me to upload a cool video I took,complaints to him. 😏

Being young, sleeping in the car, all the cheap, free life-style!
Now.... fanciest food and... WINE!!! Yes, I had cool white wine! (the beer was ICY cold)

A great train ride. I have memories of similar rides in the 50s here in the US from St. Louis MO to San Antonio TX. But never had bunk beds. And I'm sure the dining was good too, as well as the various drinks! Thanks so much for recording your journey! I'm so glad you were in air conditioned comfort!
Years ago I took a train trip with my grandmother and we stayed in a cabin. I'd forgotten what they were like until I saw these photos. Thanks for the good memory. Hope there's no train emergencies, and you enjoy your trip. hugs-Erika

I havenever been on an overnite train ride before-they were very popuplar here in the states though many years ago-they are bringing back many of the vintage trains though for tourists to ride in again.
Looks fun I would probably get really bad motion sickness though
I can't imagine 3 days on a train. We rode one that took almost a day and I was ready to get off of it.
I've always been interested in the idea of taking a sleeper train for a long trip. Your cabin looks nice! Safe travels.

Some train rides are better than others. Ours from New York to Washington DC was boring. Just a lot of green bushes, kind of monotonous 4 hour ride.
I have just read all of the posts I have missed. You certainly are on an adventure! I've never showered on a train but I have showered on a ferry and I guess it's a similar experience:-) I think those high temperatures are something we may all have to get used to! I'm sure there will be more adventures- enjoy, hugs, Chrisx

I love taking trains! We should have done this train when we were there.....
I've only spent a few hours on train travel, but it is a great way to go.
