T Is For Telephone And Trains And...

As I work 99% from home K went to our boss M and got me a mug, so I can have my tea properly at home. And yes. That is my private PC-place. It was Christmas!

Wish me luck ESE keeps me (so far no answers from the customers (ALSTOM/Vossloh), I don´t bring in money... I am still in project Intranet).

With this mug I join Elizabeth´s T of course!

The journal:

Monday: A woman called me. I answered the phone as I learned:
"K" (we answer the phone with the surname) - "Hi, it´s me!". ... "Hi, me also!" (I had a guess)
Was my big Niece!!! Like an adult (she is 13), apart from that "faux-pas" on the introduction it was like talking to an adult!!!

Same school, all the rooms she described... like being back. Teachers all unknown, sport and math are her favs. It was very sweet.

@Ingo: I do NOT want that phone!!! NOT.
And I mean it - see on Thursday what happened with W - also more happy mail to show!!

Tuesday: Cried watching "The Green Mile" ("4 times in one night", LOL!) after Ingo let  me know "Lost Places" is on and I finished that!!!
What to do in this icky weather otherwise?

Wednesday: We are still on holiday. And what does Ingo do????

Yes, letting me know, Siemens with railway is on TV. As if I was a junkie! (I started in railway with Siemens mobility, not ALSTOM).
I admit, I enjoyed it!
Payed a bill. Yes, worth a note!
You need PC, Smartphone, back and forth! But you get the bill on paper. How small can you print? I needed to take my glasses off and write it down. I am short sighted, lucky me.
I could do it all on the phone but prefer the PC. I am old, you know...

Thursday: Could not sleep in, got darn bank-stuff done. (Yippee, Australia, I´m on my way!).
Ingo went to the Christmas Market/City with me, despite he hates that 😘.
BY GOLLY!!!! Can people not be THANKFUL for once?!!! City full to the brim with people bringing back their presents. So many! I hope some at least had vouchers but most ... forget it.

X-Mas-Market: Not the sausages we wanted. All gone! Due to flooding, thunderstorm and all, ... see here, if you like (we´re good!!!!) they didn´t have the small sausages.
We shared a big one.
How sad also for them! We´d bought at least another(!) 9 to take home! (Where we needed to take a detour to).

Friday: Lazy day. Lost Places and a docu on why you should also eat meat. Interesting. We don´t eat much of it, well... "back in the day" men didn´t kill a bear each day, either, huh, women got fruit and all that.
I am thankful I have no food-allergies and can eat anything!

K brought "vegan egg-salad" to the Christmas brekkie. Nah. I tried. Nah.
I am open for veggie/vegan, the latter so far disappointed me every time. Every time.
Also they said more water etc is needed. Aw, well. To produce ANY food you have to invest.
I could read myself into it, but I have too many books already. Cows fart a lot, vegan needs a lot of water.
Eat wise, a bit of everything.
What do you think? I love the variety we have, I do live a bit lowcarb.
But a fried egg on a slice of bread with cheese I cannot pass by.
Yes, I could bake lowcarb-bread. Did. Froze it. Ruined.

And, no. No training whatsoever. I hope my arm is healed now!

Weekend: Saturday: Grocery-shopping. Peeps stocked up BIG with fireworks, oh, gack.
Ingo - despite he actually does not like it - got pizza-baguettes 😘, for Sunday, as I was too hungry to wait...
Paper-tons are empty!!!! Ingo also got rid of the halfbike-carton. Now I HAVE to learn to ride it.

Sunday: Die Maus, Tom & Jerry and Dad´s classic, It's a Wonderful Life.
With ASII (Angel, second class, aka Clarence).
Because... "every time a bell rings an Angel gets it´s wings"!

Art-wise I have something to say!
The nose (OK, not mine, I "suffered" enough with that. Boys called me pig, socket, German Shepherd... you name it), THIS one from FFO:

As we all help and motivate each other let me share!
I have these "pens", I think from LIDL! - I needed to learn to use them, but once you got it - great - PLUS, my good "old-fashioned" water-colors. Et voilà! Easy-peasy!!!! Just a wee bit of grey.

 Munch-wise

Thank you, Ingo! 🥰

 Henry and the Oker-bees wish you a happy-honey-liy 2024!

Such fabulous pages, your drawings made me smile 😊. That sandwich looks so yummy and it would be nice to see some sunshine rather than grey rainy days. Happy T Tuesday and wishing you all the best for 2024! Hugs, Jo x

I can't eat the bread-gluten-but your last photo looks so delicous.
I think it is sad too that people take their presents back and exchange for something else-some people even put the receipt in with the package-sad.
Love your work space too-hugs Happy T

LOVE your new mug, Iris. Nice to have a private PC, too.

I am a vegetarian, but will eat chicken or fish if there are no vegetarian options when I go out. Could never be a vegan, though. LOVE my dairy too much.

So sad to read how many people took their items back someone took the time to buy them for Christmas. Better than re-gifting, though!

LOVE your calendar and that old phone. Thanks for sharing your calendar and your new mug with us for T this Tuesday, dear Iris.

Nicole, glad you liked it all - to a nice day, hope yours was not so rainy!

____

Sue, I think I wait till after Perth with the bike... and then I need all the luck!
It rained all day and will continue till at least Thursday - it gets a bit scary.

____

deb, that movie is a must for me! To a wonderful new Year, hugs!

____

Christine, yes to both!

_____

Jo, at least I could bring you a smile - I still cannot comment! Hugs and all the best for 2024!!! x

_____

Kathy, so sorry you cannot eat what you like!
Yes, also today the city was full to the brim. We don´t do the crazyness at all :-)
Hugs to you and the lake

____

Divers and Sundry, yes, a great mocie and ... I watched it at my private workplace :-)

_____

Elizabeth, yes, private PC has only two big monitors, though...
I think vegan is not healthy.
We gave up on those presenting family altogether. Niece once answered to my question he wants nothing, she is happy. Wonderful!

___

Black Knight, thank you and all the best for you, too, happy running!

I always enjoy your drawings in the journal, Iris. It has been cloudy here for days which makes me not want to go out very much. Every day they tell us it will be sunny and then it isn't.

Iris Flavia said...

RedPat, thank you :-)
Yes, here it rained all day and will till at least Thursday. Scary.

The Green Mile is high on my list of best films ever. Life is Beautiful (Roberto Benigni) is another of those films.
I always love seeing your illustrated diary. And the half bike? What on earth is that? You kindly provided a link, so I had a look, and I must say, I have never seen anything like it. Very clever concept. Are you going to ride it? I don't suppose you need it as you have a 'normal' bike you can ride.
Yum, those baguettes look delicious.
Happy T-Day and Happy New Year,
Lisca

Iris Flavia said...

Dear Padre, to a great 2024, bug hugs back!

____

Lisca, "Life is Beautiful" we saw in Broome, Western Australia in Italian with English subtitles.
For a German this was tough but it was crazy how fast I forgot I read English as I (sadly!!!) don´t speak Italian.
When we´re back from Perth I will give the halfbike a try! Wasn´t a cheapy and so.... I rode a skateboard, I might make it! To a happy 2024!

____

You're becoming a mixed media artist when you mix those media Iris. It looks like a good new challenge for 2024. And too bad all the small sausage were gone. I love your caveman. He made me smile. I hope it was a great Tuesday and T day. And I hope day 2 of 2024 was great. Did you have to work? Hugs-Erika

Love the drawing, My daughter has been a vegan now for about four years and its still hard to think of what to cook when she comes (she quite often brings her own...which I can say some of it isn't too bad but others...yuk! I'm hoping to do more mixed media stuff as I've spentmost of this yar just seeing what every one else is up to and then getting so much that I want to try, nothing gets none! Happy T day! and wishing you and your family a very Happy 2024 ((Lyn))

So much in today's post.
I eat meat, but not often anymore, it is too expensive. I like fish, chicken and beef, NOT pork or lamb. To get enough protein I eat more eggs now and meat more in the winter.

Iris Flavia said...

Erika, but they´re both water-colors! Yes so sad with the sausages. But Ingo ordered some online, I think, hmmmm.
The caveman is happy to have made you smile :-)
Yupp, back to work since yesterday! But it was a slow day.... hugs to that!

____

Lyn, yuk, is the work I think about, too when I remember that "vegan egg-salad" ;-)
I know what you mean, there is too much else to do - I can´t wait to retire, but reckon that will still be a long run...
To a happy 2024!

____

River, really? Meat used to be so much cheaper than here! Ingo often had steak in Madeley.
I didn´t cause I don´t like your gas grills, I prefer coal. But I get that that might be dangerous (though when we traveled your country we had a fire nearly every day in the Outback!).
We eat a lot of eggs, too.

I am very hungry after reading this post with all the foods you have shown. And as always, I really love your calendar pages. I like meat -- and fish. But veggies either have to be raw or very nicely prepared!

A Christmas market with no sausage! No! Once again you calendar makes me smile! We watched some good films on TV over the holidays! Happy T Day and Happy New Year, Chrisx

So nice that you can drink your tea from a company mug. I love the little chocolates. Nice that you had a lovely conversation with your big niece. Hopefully, a fond memory she will have talking to her Tante. Fun drawing of the old-fashioned, candlestick phone. Green Mile such a good movie, and it isn't Christmas unless we see "It's a Wonderful Life." Happy T Day
