Care For An Explanation?

The heating guy explained all data in detail to me, and I was wondering why. Reckon he had time to "study" our fridge and thought I wanted to know 🤣

OK, this was a joke we found in a newspaper in... Broome (sadly a tad blurry):

Hmmm... Jesters is the best! Oh, how I miss that!!! On looking them up, they moved to Carillon City?!

Oh, and whilst we´re at it:

On our fridge (there is a The Simpsons-episode where Homer is a car salesman and has to fart on a test drive with customers. To cover up he turns on the music, what the customer sure realizes).

As River asked, here is another pic of our kitchen:

And, well, Broome...

We stayed some weeks there in 1999, it´s a beautiful place -  though I don´t understand why everybody talks big about Cable Beach - the water is so still, it´s rather boring!

When you travel every day, plan, drive, explore, it´s kinda work, too, so here we took a rest and just enjoyed, apart from the movies...

And here and there an Hawaiian Pack, YUM...

It was really, really soooo yummy, so much so friends went there with us in 2013 and boy, they were right, it was awful!!! Never again!

(Sadly my friend missed the logo a bit, but you can see the floor perfectly  🤣)

In Broome, maybe you´ve seen this pic before...

As long as you behave they let you stay there over weeks - no idea if this is tolerated still. But, well. We did not pay for the night but we went to Woolies, Chicken Treat, Sun Pictures, we left some money there, right? I even bought the shoes I´m wearing in the pic there.

Usually we had our lunch here...

Right across are free showers. Over months a blue VW-bus we met again and again, some Hippies traveling, boy, when they opened their doors... huhhh. And then I knew why!

I came out from the shower place and one of the guys went up at me asking if the showers were hot - they are not but in Broome you have 35+C, so.... so... he turned around and skipped the shower.

Once we had food we bought there - they had a festival, they celebrate the full moon as it looks like you could step right up into the night sky!
I tried to take a pic but with so many dumb people using flash I ended up buying this pretty postcard:

If you get a chance, go to Broome and enjoy!
Ignore the dumbheads, the market has a great atmosphere, the food is deli, it will be warm and wonderful.

Henry 🦁

He greets you...

Oh, and P.S. Ingo.... set this up:

Now, WHAT?!
Ohhhh, yes, banana, Striped Tiger and his duck!!

Happy 90th Birthday, Janosch!!!
He taught us Panama smells of bananas!

A beautiful little book.
You don´t have to be afraid of anything!

Turn on the sound and enjoy, or... go visit Broome! Or both!! Next... dinosaurs, arrrrwwwwwgggg!

...I hate when an expert tries to explain all of the technical details about something, my mind isn't able to process it.

Are you getting ready for Pi Day? It's not the same in Europe because we use PI for the date coming up on Sunday (we write 3-14) but you write it in the opposite order. Not PI. Maybe I will bake a PIe.

I think I'd find technical details boring, too.

But it was cute he felt he needs to tell me.

What a sweet story Iris, will remember that for when we Skype this weekend 💙 Gosh it's been sooooo long since we were last in Broome I'm sure everything will be completely different! I bet it's busy up there at the moment with no international travel allowed, it's good, people are discovering the great places we have in our own State ✨

P.s. Sami and I enjoyed the sculptures today but no tea in the Indianna, it's been closed up for a while now but nothing seems to be happening there.

I had to laugh about that hippie skipping the shower because the water was not hot. So he stank. LOL. When I stayed at the YWCA in Thailand, the showers were not hot. But, the water was not cold, either.

Grace, I think it´s great peeps discover their own, beautiful country!!!
Never understood why Bali is a destination to fly to!
Looking forward to seeing what you two´ve been up to today 🥰
Sad about the Indiana... hope they restore it!

Funny comics, nice tour of Broome. It is pretty far from Perth so that was a long drive. Sounds like you enjoyed it very much. How did you get interested in that part of the world? Great post, Iris and thanks for the adventure.

It feels like it will be along time before we do any traveling. Who would have ever thought this could happen to us all.

Bill, easy: Ingo´s Brother said: "Care for visiting Australia?"
Ingo: "yes." Brother: "Great, I bought tickets already."
Yep, that´s the family I married into. Short ways, reckon you can relate.
We traveled the whole country, so Broome is "just around the corner" :-)

_____

Padre, more to come tomorrow... from ... 1995! Let´s ROCK!

RedPat, yes, that´s why we all get out our old travels, to keep happy, right?

I hope it won't be too long until you can return to Perth and Australia. It feels like such a fit for you both and I always love the photos.

I also hope you will be able to visit Australia soon. Seems your heart and soul are there. I also loved the math on the fridge.

I listened to the whole Trip to Panama story and loved it, I might see if I can find the book to buy and give it to a small child I know who loves to try and read, he is two years old.
I have sometimes thought about travelling around Australia a bit, but first I would have to save some $$ and what will I do with Lola? She can't come with me away from home for so long and I can't leave her with anyone else.

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, yes, sadly we´re not rich enough to make a living there, plus we´re too old. They won´t take us.

____

Elizabeth, thought you like our fridge :-)

____

River, can´t Lola travel? Some use leashes on cats, too - oh, you would love that, how about a pre-loved campervan for it?

2 years old and already a reader - wow! You should find the book on amazon.
I waaaaay back then (pre-internet!!!) bought it at train station Hanover, only they had English books. I´m a dinosaur.

Pi day is Sunday. I forgot about that. Guess I need to make a pie. And I like the photos of Australia too. It looks like you had big adventures.
