Treasure Is Not Alone!

When it went dark yesterday Treasure sure was glad he found himself in our living room and not in the cold street. When my lamp went on she cried, "ohhh, who are you, welcome!!!"

This lamp hung in my parent´s bedroom in the 70´s and was so happy to see yet another member of her era!

She sure is not alone.
Note: you may write in another language and know things are "it", but it sticks. Chairs are male, lamps female... it would be too impersonal to refer to old friends as "it".
It´s "la lune" and also "she" in English, yet in German the moon is male and the sun is female, did you know?

It... A phone is an it and in the 70´s I sure used this orange beauty:

It feels home, having my Mum´s round container by it´s side:

Also looking over to the living room lamp where the phone once lived by:

 Treasure really was so happy.
He also met this!

Grandma saw how I adored this and gave it to me 🧡

And this...

In front of the swing:

Our timer and...

Can you imagine, Mum sent me to buy her ciggies - I was a kid, no worries!

Treasure also met these, they never lived  with us, but my  parents couldn´t sell them and they all found a new home here:

Next time I´m (haha, Corinna...) next time I´ll be at my Bro´s the watch´ll get batteries, he ordered them (he´s also still a bit of a watchmaker).
BEAM ME UP, eh?

This one sadly is broken but wow, sooo cool, too:

Ignore me in the reflection, gahhh, I´ll never become a pro in taking pics!
The orange one is a (psssst) fake. But it´s a) 70´s style and b) reminds me of Groundhog Day!

No one wanted this, either...

My Brother is too young and let me have also all the unsold stuff, this is my last roomie:

Some still have the price-tag on, but sadly you cannot read my Dad´s super-fine writing anymore (in the 70´s you wrote by hand!).

Wait, I checked, this one is intact, I need to preserve it... with tape?

My parents owned a shop that my Brother has now. Optometrics, jewelry, watches, hearing aids. It goes down the drain with Corinna... so sad. He is allowed to open a few mornings and only for people who made an appointment first.
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Yes. The early 70´s were happy times.
My Brother was born late '77 and can´t remember much, poor fella that, the 80´s were... ugh!

Easter comes up so I leave you with this:

The haircut, huh, yayyyy! Freedom!
Freedom? See last post, did he let me do anything on my own?!
Henry 🦁 - he´s old as a lion and remembers the times, he says...

What was your fav time? Here is a typical symbol of German 70´s, the Prilblume, our kitchen was (and is full of that):

And yes, Pril is a detergent (and I´m the dish-washer...)...

And River gave THE solution!

Thank you ALL for your suggestions, but this is kinda "it"!

As soon as we can (darn it, it´s in the news, America even laughs about Germany due to Corinna-chaos!).. as soon as we can I´ll get leather in Treasure´s color, put it underneath, glue it, make sure it´s hard so not glue my Popo, too, and weeeee.... we´re all happy!!
Blogger-world is BEST!

Such fun treasures. My parents were into the 50's thing, but bland colors. Brown, white and tan. I love seeing these colorful pieces and can image how bright and cheery the house is with them (and was when you grew up too). Happy Saturday.

Yes, it was COLORFUL! Well.... it IS :-)
Brown, though, was part of it, too. Happy Saturday to you!

Your vintage stuff made me smile and think of my teen years. I graduated uni when your brother was born! 😺 I wish I lived closer, I have a Grandmother Clock that needs repair but no one does that kind of work here anymore. Or none that I can find. Sad about the shop not being open more, things will get better. We're not laughing at you. Our numbers are on the rise again and soon we'll be in the same boat.

Iris Flavia said...

Oh, you really can´t find anyone to repair your clock? Well, my Brother is but a Goldsmith and Optometrician (and can change a battery) but he has a - very slow!! - watch-maker at hand (hence my clock is still broken. I am family and that dude is slow to a point where I said, OK, give it back broken! Boy was he pis#ed, that guy).

Yes, we might all be in the same boat again, for now the news say - and I think it is GOOD - The States laugh about Merkel/Germany.
Not that she/the gov will learn from the laughs...

What a post, Iris. Those vintage clocks are great. I used to collect clocks and got tired of them after a decade. Turn the clocks back or ahead was a 30 minute exercise. Now I have just three clocks one of them a Braun and two from a charity shop. I enjoyed your stories and photos. In the photo with your dad, I really thought he was playing a guitar, he was bent over and whatever he was holding it looked like the neck of a guitar. I thought he was rocking. :) Have a great evening!

I love all of your 70s treasures!! That is a wonderful collection.

Iris Flavia said...

Bill you got me laughing so hard!!!
The neck of a guitar!
My Dad forced me to learn to play the piano, he played no instrument at all.
Let alone a guitar, much too "modern"! Hippies come to mind, huhhhh, he´d run away!

Iris Flavia said...

RedPat, all from my home... but "Treasure", he´s from the street. And I sit on "him" right now.

Great assortment of treasures.

Yes. I´m so happy I have these!!!

Seriously! The US laughs about the state of Germany. That's outrageous, they haven't exactly been a role model themselves, even still! Over half a million people dying because they can't get their --it together is diabolical! On a lighter note your apartment is a delight to see Iris, it always makes me happy when you show it 💜

Iris Flavia said...

Grace, if you compare the size of USA and Germany they are right to laugh about "us"!
Our way of living makes up for it, huh? Happy times 🧡
And "Treasure" is sooooo comphy!!!

Interesting pieces. I love that photo of you and your Dad on Easter Sunday.

Iris Flavia said...

gigi, thank you. I wonder why he held me like that, though. I could walk on my own!!!
