I know of freedom (see last post, and yes, I visited Berlin and had to pass East-border, once per bus, once with private car, ohhhh, scary!).
We had a car in Australia, twice.
We drove off. Enough time on our hands, little money, but we were young.
Sadly no internet back then, we missed sooooo ... sooo darn much!
(1995 and 1999, both times, sadly)
The "Lonely Planet" we had, as in paper.
Helped a lot - yet... we missed too much.
Enough water? Yupp. Enough gas? Enough food, Pepsi? And some beer? Yupp. OK, off we go!!! Slept in the car, had our home with us, always.
This car was our dear home.
In German cars are male, and he was the best.
I always felt safe.
Every now and then I sat down, wrote a letter to my family. Over say... a month every time.
Here a few words, there some others.
Pinning where we are.
Sent it to Germany, was there 4 weeks later.
No one would´ve found us if anything bad´d happened.
Two weeks ago my Bro told me that my Dad feared my life every day.
Do you think he ever told me? My Dad?
When I came to visit he reached out.... his hand. Like to a business partner. Never a hug.
My Brother always hugs me big, just saying.
And now.
We´re all stuck.
I cannot even visit my family.
Where has freedom gone?
We are educated people and should know better. DISTANCE (and hugs with family!!! Last time we did this, there is TRUST, yes, TRUST versa SCIENCE, I know, but we´re all fit and healthy).
Herpes. Ingo had it, Bro had it. I shared glasses and bottles with both and never got it. Nieces kissed me, YIKES, I´m still not dead yet!
OK, not funny.
But back to science: It´s a virus, too, and likely everyone has it - an outbreak might come or not.
I´m not in the risk group for Corinna. Big Niece is (diabetes I), but she´s a fit 10-year-old.
I miss them all so much, last time was summer 2020!!! AGES ago.
Freedom.
It´s kinda gone, freedom.
Henry 🦁...
We´re stuck in so many ways. There is not only Corinna... Ingo´s health doesn´t allow real freedom anymore, either.
But, Tom made me homesick with his Hawaiian-pics, I might show you more of our travels...

Sounds absolutely wonderful, travels are so fun!
Yes, hope we can start off again some time soon!
...it dirt means freedom, than I'm a mighty free guy! I've played and worked in the dirt all of my life.
Times sure have changed when it comes to traveling. I've missed much on some trips too, and that bugs me. What can you do? Sadly! Hope its been a good weekend.
Tom :-)

Erika, it´s been a weekend of memories...
I'm not ready to travel far but once you are vaccinated, even though you still mask, it feels a little safer, a little more free. I think the hug thing might be generational -- older generations were more contained. We are more open. I think. I hope.
Freedom always come with a price.
It still feels like it's a long way to go.
I would like to be able to hug friends and most of all my Dad!
I hope to start adventuring out since I been poked with vaccine.
Coffee is on and stay safe
I never knew AirMail envelopes had a map inside, it's a great idea.
I'm at risk with my age and my asthma, but I don't miss freedom, because I mostly stay at home anyway, don't go travelling, because I don't have enough $$$.
There's alot to be said for freedom, we are thinking the same, the sooner it's over the better.
Jeanie, I´ll be travelling Wednesdad next week to visit family (that´s at least the plan).
____
Bill, it wasn´t that bad to sleep in the car.
____
William, it sure is, sadly...
____
RedPat I´d likely do soon, I plan to visit!
____
Dora, off you go!
____
River, that really were trips I brought a lot of money back, LOL!
____
Amy, yes, the sooner the better! I made a list called "Perth2021" - reckon I will have to add a year...
Looking forward to seeing more of your travel pics Iris, I'm sure we'll be back to traveling again soon in the meantime the earth has had a bit of a rest from we people, I think it needed it 😉
I used to travel when I was on vacation and I always slept in my car. People thought I was NUTS, but I sure saved a LOT of money on hotel/motel bills. Good for you for sharing these memories.
Grace, yes to both! I also think working from home will remain for many, which is good!
____
Elizabeth, yes, what´s bad about sleeping in the car anyways (when you´re young)?!
I LOVE that car!!!!!!
He was THE BEST!!!
The good old days, huh?!
And your home on wheels -- he was a handsome one, eh.
Who ever thought a virus would change our lives like this! 😔 Freedom will return, Iris -- soon. Stay safe until then.
