Journal.
Monday my Dad´d turned 83.
He was a good person, for our system. Worked all his life, lost against cancer at age 65, where, back then, you could retire.
Never met his Grandkids, missed out on so much.
At least he and Ingo enjoyed the stars - can you believe this?
I was a kid and Ingo, who is nearly 8 years older than me, roamed our house to watch the stars with my Dad.
(Sadly Bro does not take care of this)
We didn´t even meet! Or care!
But... no wonder Dad let me go to Australia years and years later with Ingo - there was times of trust gathered.
Being the big Sis I reminded Bro of the date and Tuesday got pics of the Nieces by the grave.
And we talked ages on the phone.
Sadly they won´t come over. Too much trouble.
I don´t get it. Hop in the car, 1 hour, you´re here (OK, try to find a place for the car).
Me? Mask on. Over-heated tram, over-heated train, 1 1/2 hours at least - with mask and glasses!!!
Well. Won´t happen.
Wed my agent called. She assumes six more weeks till job offers roll around. We´re locked into place.
Thursday I had to wait forever for the heating-guy, I hate waiting, give me a call at least.
Ingo made a last Toast Hawaii for me, I felt better.
Friday. Hahahaha.
I do not rely on my agent (given by state), I look for jobs myself, right.
Company I even worked with, here in BRAUNSCHWEIG, casual "du", blablabla, then official "Sie". If I was willing to work throughout Germany/Europe, willing to live 3+ months apart - NO! I could´ve cried. But was too angry for that. (13 years of weekend-relationship is enough!)
Food:
Weekend... easy going, what can you do in lockdown.
Other than run nuts at the grocery.
One trolley per person.
A line of peeps waiting for a free trolley.
A LINE OF PEEPS WAITING FOR A TROLLEY!!!
A LINE OF PEEPS WAITING FOR A TROLLEY!!!
Can you believe this????
Ingo: "I won´t come with you shopping...." - me: "hahahahaha"... OH, BOY!!!
I´m not dumb, am I.... went to the other side, no cars allowed, two trolleys left, YAY.
Chaos in the store!!!!
LOL. I had Gurri and my Happy hat - bet people who stupidly waited in line for a trolley recognized me and saw I had a trolley in two minutes - I had to laugh!!!
Peeps who cuddle up in bed are forced to take a trolley each. To not get too close.
Same in your place?
The Quote top left:
"The one who does not believe in wonders is no realistic person." - David Ben Gurion.
MUM!!! This is for you!! Miss you, too.
And.. I´m sorry, Mum!!!
Friday the phone rang. "Zibner" - I was like ???? - didn´t sound like one of your Brothers/a Cousin of mine, your maiden name, huh.
Was from Wolfenbüttel and tried to call some company. If he got the wrong number. All I blurted out was "and SO wrong!!!" - we laughed. Maybe I should´ve asked but he was in a hurry. And no, I won´t call back, that´d be stupid (my loss) - maybe we´re related?
Art-wise I... well, I show you...
Well, Hathi got to work, kinda... (I used kitchen towels, sorry if I make someone shake her head in disbelief...)
A while ago I by accident dropped acrylics on my old table and thought, OK, table, you wanted this, and splashed all colors on it.
Looked fancy, I thought. But once you have ONE item on it ... looked but messy!!!
Ingo was right, hence I got peu à peu (did I mention I´m slack?) rid of it:
Ready?
Ohhhhhh.... nooo, I´m soooooo sorry...
He was too quick, BOOM. I´m sorry, BUT he made a point! He said, "blue and yellow?!!! Did you turn your back on Footy?!"
He was too quick, BOOM. I´m sorry, BUT he made a point! He said, "blue and yellow?!!! Did you turn your back on Footy?!"
He´s right. The traditional colors of stupid soccer are blue and yellow, so "SMILE" had to take an unprofessional bath in...
Back to the journal:
Had a big... "fight"? with Bro on vaccines.
Well, I let him talk, and that he did. One day later Denmark took one vaccine off the market already - not tested through, dangerous.
He never called on this, like, "sorry, you were right after all..."
I SO SO SO hope SOON we can look back and say, weeee.
Those were crazy times, but now we manage. We can go shopping without lists, without time-limits, giving our data, we can TRAVEL.
Bet the next "Corinna", let us give the name "Paul", is just around the corner, lurking.
Life is genes/virus mutating, on and on.
We need to stop falling in panic-mode.
DISTANCE!!!
Mother Nature sure says, thanks Corinna, and would embrace Paul.
Working from home, not risking your life on the way to work, good for environment...
Sorry. But I see a lot of good Corinna brought us. And a lot of bad....
Sunday also: Die Maus: One quote Ingo hates and I love: "Simply ask someone!".
I could tell you stories... even in Sydney I just asked and that´s the way life rolled perfectly.
City-map?! Into the pocket, I don´t need that! Friendly peeps I find everywhere - and it´s MY decision to take the info or leave it, right? Tummy tells me and is mostly right!
PS... Numbers given in the journal: First: Calories burned (3 000+, YAY!!!!), the next: Steps I took for that - 30 000 + - Corinna, you give me the time to do this!).
And yes, SUNDAY was π - day!
And certainly... joining Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday".
Henry 🦁 ... you found him under the Beamtenstippe, right?

Ah, that's so sweet, your nieces at the grave of your parents
The photo with your nieces at your parents grave is so poignant! The orange "Smile" is beautiful! Oh yes, I always enjoy looking at your diary page!
Have a very nice and creative day my 🐘
Ich hab dich liiiieb ...
P.S About the mill and the pictures from the inside ... not all days the mill is open and you have to pay an entrance fee. Maybe one day ...
Bertiebo, my Nieces just grew up with it. Big Niece can´t recall having met her "Omi"...
____
Ella, oh, yes, I have no idea what the Nieces really think/feel at the grave? I hope there are smiles, as the s#ray of sun suggests, huh.
Hmmm, aren´t you curious yourself how the mill looks from the inside?
Have a (grey but happy!) day, ich hab dich liiiieb mein 🦋 xoxo
(here it´s grey, 5 C and my cell said good bye, I guess...)
I've seen other mills inside ... but not this one! To me the mills are something ... normal! Are no longer an attraction! I'll have to find the pictures of the mill that I saw inside, okay?
Yes, pretty please do, we don´t have that here!
You´re welcome, cheers on a cider?
...enjoy each and every day, we never know how many we will be given.
Yes, Tom. True. Will do, you do, too.
Rhubarb Cider, Not Totally On Board But Maybe - Happy Birthday Father - Wish You Could Have Held Them Grand Babies - May The Perfect Job Land In Your Lap - Stay Strong
Cheers
Padre, yes to all. We need to stay strong!
I finally figured out what a TROLLEY is after going back and looking at your journal. We call them shopping carts. I like how you drew them in your journal, though. My friend Scott shops for me, so I don't need to worry about getting my own (grin).
How nice that your dad and Ingo watched the stars together. So nice that your nieces visited your dad's grave, too.
I've never had rhubarb sparkling cider, but I've never been a fan of rhubarb. I wonder if I would like it now, since things I didn't care for as a child, I now enjoy. Thanks for sharing your journal, your father, your food, and your sparkling cider with us for T this Tuesday. I hope you get a job after the lock down is over.
Oh, sorry, Elizabeth, Think I´m a tad Aussie-directed! We call trolleys/ shopping carts "Einkaufswagen". Beam me up - nice you have your Scott!
Yes, weird with our Dads. And nice.
Yes, try stuff you didn´t like as a kid - I found my tastebuds´ve changed and I do like some I did´t like as a kid!
I miss my parents too ~ both died to young. I'm glad you enjoyed a chat with your brother too. Enjoy your T day and keep journaling :)
The grave is poignant
Loved your story about the trolley. That is crazy that people that live together have to have separate ones. Doesn't make sense. But then again, so much about this doesn't make sense.
Love the picture of your nieces paying respects at your fathers grave. Sorry to hear that your brother doesn't come visit a lot. That must be disappointing. I saw my brother over Christmas for the first time in 3 years and it was SO nice.
Your meal looks delicious.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
There's always one person in a family that cares more about the family connection than the rest. It can be hard, I know. Some people just don't get it :(
In our grocery stores we can share a cart, and social distancing is definitely urged but it's never so crowded these days that that's a problem. I agree we've learned a lot from this that'll come in handy when the next pandemic comes along. I hope so, anyway.
Happy T Tuesday!
Sad that your father did not get to see his grandkids. Sweet of them to visit his grave. Keep up with the job hunt. Good luck with that.
Oh dearest Iris! It's the cutest thing to know that you and Ingo have known each other since you were kids! Love your desk, it has a lot of Character and that shade of blue is heavenly!
The trolley story -- that's great. And I love that the grandgirls visit your dad's grave. It's how we learn their stories. And I never knew that your family knew Ingo when you were young. The star story was fun, too.
I think your agent is probably right about jobs, given what we hear about covid in Germany and complications about the vaccines. But it makes sense to look on your own, too. Why not?
65 is so young! Enjoy every day as much as you can!
Lovely tribute to your dad and so nice to see your brides leaving flowers for him ❤️. The food looks yummy, I think Henry enjoyed playing hide and seek with you! Our vaccine roll out is going well here, we are on ages 56 and older now 😁. Take care and wishing you a Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
I had to figure out the "trolley" word and meaning like Elizabeth did. Good thing we had the planner page illustrations:)
Touching photo of your nieces at your dad's gravesite.
Wishing you a good week ahead, and happy T day!
Rhubarb cider sounds delicious. I have never seen that before. And your dad was too young when he passed away. So sad after working all those years. I hope you had a great T day, and keeping my fingers crossed that a job will happen! Hope it was a great T day. Hugs-Erika
It was especially nice to see the photograph of your nieces at the gravesite.
All the best Jan
You share the best memories and food and adventure. Happy T day my friend.
Rhubarb Cider sounds terrible to me. I like rhubarb when it is cooked with apples, then we put warm custard over for dessert.
My dad used to mash up his food like that and now I do the same, but not for everything. He would be 96 now if he lived.
creativeseconds, sad you also have lost your parents early. They are in our hearts...
____
William, it´s a lot of work - I won´t do that to loved ones....
_____
Kate, yes, not much makes sense in this - a lot about making money.... What is it with Brothers, Christmas is a while ago, too...
____
Divers and Sundry, sadly that´s rather me - Bro lives nearby and always - when I remind him ;-) - does take care.
Here the store was full to the brm as couples felt they need to shop together, what nonesense in these times!
____
gigi, yes to all ...
____
Dearest Stevenson, no, Ingo and I did not meet back then ;-)
Which 20 year old has interest in a 12 year old kid, LOL.
But the desk is really much better now!
____
Jeanie, yes, crazy, Ingo´s Dad even worked for mine once as in finding a thief!
You hear about our problems with the vaccines?! I´d like to learn about that, if it is to say "HA!" to my Brother...
____
RedPat, I will, you do, too....
____
Jo, yes, the Nieces don´t remember/know them but it´s a normal visit for them, go and "see" Omi and Opi.
Oh, weee, now I love having food with Henry even more, thank you!
Let´s hope we get Corinna under control!
____
Linda, sorry, guess I´m Aussie-infected! I take care with that planner - it seems to even help! To a good week, Nieces are still cute and do what Daddy says (mostly).
____
Erika, the drink was... OK. Sounded better than it was in the end. But I fall for stuff like that!
Yes, cancer is never fair... he bet it before. Application is on the way today! Hugs and thanks!
____
Jan, yes, it´s quite normal to them, no idea what they really do think or feel? Maybe I ask next time...
____
Nicole, you´re welcome, thank you for stopping by, friend (or friendene, as my Canadian female friend calls female friends!)
____
River, boy, you´re always so honest, you make me laugh! It wasn´t exactly terrible, but also not as yummy as I expected. I once ate rhubarb and that was sour, ewww!!! But, even if my sweet tooth mostly is asleep your apple-thingy sounds yummy. Must ask Ingo.
LOL, your Dad was truly German then.96. Oh, if only...
I smiled when I saw your mashed up food Iris, P does this with just about every meal, at home that is, I'd be furious if he did it when we were out 😀 your dad was far too young to go, P's mum was in her 50's. Looks like you will have to be patient on the job front, maybe the perfect job is hatching slowly for you 💜
It's nice that your brother takes your nieces to your Mom's grave.
Vaccines...here the second phase is starting on the 22nd, in which I'm included for working in "other" medical, but I'm in no hurry to have it for sure! Specially not after what is happening in Europe, although I don't even know which one we would be having. But just today I heard on the radio a couple of people had reactions to it about 30min later, but they were people that suffered with severe allergies.
I like your journal :)
Grace, you sure made me laugh! 🤣 Mashing up... I seldom do this, but Beamtenstippe you have to!
In her 50´s how very sad. Yup. Got another "no" on the job-front...
____
Sami, I don´t wanna get a vaccine. Luckily I´m not in the risk group! What do you hear about Europe in this sector?
I´ll keep the journal going I guess, thank you for liking it - not a word on the table, LOL!
I love your Diary page Iris and love to read your stories. How lovely that Ingo watched the stars with your Dad.
Rhubarb Cider sounds delicious, I miss it living in Spain as it doesn't grow here.
we call them trolleys in England too but have to remember to call them carts in the USA, I'm not into mashing up food but I know someone who does that and the first time I saw it I was shocked LOL
Have a great day
Jan S
Nice of your nieces to bring flowers to their Opa. How fun that you knew your husband when you were a kid. Yes, your dad must have approved of him. Fun Henry plate to eat your dinner. Your description at the grocery store made me laugh. You really could have gotten a rise out of all those waiting for a carriage (what a shopping cart is called in Boston) by shouting, I want breasts! Your encounter at the butcher's just makes me laugh. As my neighbor, Prissy, would say, Better days are coming. Hopefully, a job is on its way for you. Take care and Happy T Day
I hope that in that 6 week period things get moving for you, it must be frustrating to be at home all the time, mind you being in the midst of a pandemic isn't helping.
You make tea day fun and interesting with this post! Happy Tea Day, a tad late.
