On Friday I - as usually - WhatsApp´d my T.
Since his then-girlfriend went sick and I had to leave his side to work in Braunschweig (yay for the Braunschweig-part), we do keep contact like this.
And Friday I saw he has a new icon, a white flower.
And I got so darn scared.
I kept my feelings under control in 2002.
The trainee came to me, giving me a white flower, and that was it, I lost control.
I cried, I just burst into tears.
For 2+ weeks - after driving Braunschweig > Wolfsburg, working 8 hours, driving to Göttingen (140 km) - seeing my Father dying of cancer...
I just moved on, like a robot, worked fine. Until this girl came with that white flower.
She meant well, but she broke my wall.
And now a white flower as icon?! What happened?!
They renovate the house, his new girlfriend and him, so what is this?!
I got so scared.
"Klappe zu - Affe tot" is a West-German saying, but a white flower is unique (he´s from East-Germany).
He answered, "It would be S´s 52nd Birthday today 'that´s all'."
How I come to this?
Mean, mean dark cancer came with butter.
T was angry, said S didn´t want his dish cause she saw he added butter back then.
But...
She just could not stand the smell due to cancer, it made her gag - just they didn´t know of the cancer at that time.
It took them nearly 2 years. We tried a lot, but it took her so darn long.
"In the end", which was an awful long time.... she could move but one eye. That.Was.It. Nothing more.
And on Friday she´d turned... 52.
"
Traurig" is German for "sad".
And, boy. He has a new girlfriend, a new life but certainly my T, as he is, cannot forget, S lives on like this. He still meets her Son for coffee, too.
Have I mentioned what nice guys I have here.
I try to enjoy butter and even bought new Butterschmalz to cook for Ingo.
And certainly... heavy backpack and whom do I meet?
Yupp. W. LOL.
Well. "LOL".... he´s lonely , he talked and talked, he found no end.
Ingo said it´s good I do this, it is.
Boy, his eyes are like Terrence Hill´s so blue!!!
He is "allowed" to meet his wife at the nursing home again.
Sometimes she does not recognize him - try not to cry....
Invited him for supper but he smiled and said, sounds so yum but he has rice that will go bad otherwise.
Yips, neither of us can let go food go bad.
Art-wise I share the last 60-90-seconds sketch (This is what it´s all about):
And here goes another journal page...
And to join Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday" ...
Henry 🦁...
He tries to see the good, he does not want to be traurig.
A lion can relax in 1C and dream of Spring!

I love butter. Real butter, not cheap imitation or buttery spread, but the real deal.
Sorry to read about your friend and his girlfriend who died of cancer. Glad he has found a new love, but it sounds like he can't move on from the last one.
I like your sketch. It's a gem. I also like your calendar pages and look for them each week. I think this is one of my favorites and I bet I missed something with regard to the "Maus."
Orange juice is a fine drink. I think we need more of it in our lives. Thanks for sharing your art, your calendar, the story of T, and your orange juice with us for T this Tuesday, Iris.
Yes, real butter, best from Ireland :-)
Cancer is the devil for sure.

A very sad story ... I know what the cancer can do ... it not only destroys the person who is sick, but also the partner!
I like the cheese biscuits!
Did you have a model for the sketch?
You see ... I told Henri I love him and he's already dreaming!
Here's warmer ... are 2 degrees outside!
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein 🐘 xoxo
Ja, that's traurig. But I think Henry is right
Ella, yes, it destroys partner, the children... and no one gets it under control...
Yes, we had fellow students as models back then.
Wow, twice as "warm" as here, LOL, and Henry dreams along 🧡
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein 🦋 xoxo

Bertiebo, yes, bad, but glad he found a new love!
...Iris, Henry is a constant bright spot ois your life, try to find more bright spot each day.
Laurie, yes, it helps to share, thank you for listening.
Hmmm, I think I still not found "my style" with the work, but thank you 🧡
____
Tom, yes, I always have my eyes open for him!
Cancer is awful.
Henry looks relaxed.
Yes to both!
Hi Iris, such a sad story about your friend, cancer is an awful thing but you are a good friend.
Your cheese biscuits look delicious.
Take Care, Happy T Day
Jan S
What a sad story, and emotions can ambush us when we least expect it.
I love real butter, and orange juice is always tasty. And cheese, too!
Happy T Tuesday!
Hi Iris. First I love your art and you are doing such a beautiful job with the journal. Ohhh butter, it is the only kind I buy. Real butter, no imitation for us. LOL It is sad about your friend. Yum on the cheddar cheese cookies and juice. Have a very nice day today.
Jan, my T is a good friend, too, always there for me when Hubby falls sick.
Giving and taking, right?
____
Divers and Sundry, the last three are a winner then :-)
Butter is the best on bread or in baked goods. But I know you don't like sweet. Not me, I love sweet, which is not always a good thing. Smile. And cancer sucks. 2 years ago my sister-in-law died from it. She was much too young. Too many people die much too young from it. ANYHOW, hope you did have a great T day and it had a little butter in it. Hugs-Erika
Two sad stories. I didn't know the significance of the white flower. Sometimes, a gesture, kind as it is, is all it takes to bring tears (which, I happen to believe, are healthy and good to get out). I don't think we ever forget, even when our lives have moved on and we have other relationships. The heart is big enough to share love.
Sad story today. cancer is so awful!
Your cheddar biscuits sound delish- my kind of yummy. I see you continue to have fun filling your pages with little illustrations. And Henry sure has the right idea and attitude:):) Happy T day!
Such a sad story! Thank you for sharing it, though. It's important to share life's difficulties if only for the reason that it reassures the rest of us that we're not alone.
Sad story about the cancer than consumed your father and your friend's girlfriend. I hate cancer. The worst disease of all in my opinion.
Very sad. Cancer is such a cruel disease. I'd rather not dwell on it. I've worked in a hospice the last 20 years of my career and 90% had cancer.
I like your diary. I assume the numbers are steps. It's so difficult to clock up a reasonable amount of steps. I haven't been out today as I have to wait for the guys to move the stove and now (17:00) I have 2081. That's not a lot.
Your cheddar cookies look delicious. Although the cheese you were grating in the photo looks more like GranaPadana or Parmesan than Cheddar.
Your sketch is great. The fact that you do that in a minute or so. Amazing!
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Nicole, thank you :-) And yes, Irish butter it is here!
Well, my friend moved on, that is good. And I have to make the cookies again!
____
Erika, those hearty cookies aren´t exactly low in calories, either ;-) Nor is Pitta, Doener and stuff, LOL.
Yes, too many die (too young often) of cancer), hugs to you, seems like everyone has a loos in this sector...
____
Jeanie, my Mum passed away of that darn cancer, also.
I agree, it´s healthy to let out your feelings - but not at work... And yes, the heart is big enough!
____
Linda, yes, plain awful, that nasty desease.
The cookies are easy to make and I try my best with the journal, I just don´t have much patience, argh!
Henry enjoys life, no matter the weather!
____
Jeff, thank you, sadly we are not alone in this, wish we got it under control, that nasty thing...
____
gigi, I sadly have too agree.
____
Lisca, oh, how did you manage, I couldn´t see all the sadness and pain every day.
LOL, you had me laughing, the numbers in my journal are calories burned - the steps are a tad more :-)
Yep that was GranaPadana (Italian).
The sketch was a long time ago, but I´m slowly back at this :-)
I don´t have the patience for more, too...
Such a sad story, I can relate as I lost my friend to cancer a couple of years ago. It breaks my heart when I think about it, so I try my best to remember the happy times 😀. Loving those cheese scones - yum! Of course that lazy lion is fabulous too ...ha, ha! Take care and Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
I lost my dad to cancer and a few friends. It's never easy. Henry looks cool today, kicking back with a flower for spring. Now all you need is warmer weather.
Yum to all that butter! One can never have too much. I have never tried cookies with cheese in them but I can imagine they taste delicious.
SO sorry to hear about your friend and the cancer. I know so many people that have passed from cancer, including my grandparents. Horrible disease.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Jo, yes, cancer is a nasty thing and I, too, try toremember the happy times, especially with my Mum who died of that also.
Yupp, the cookies are fab! - hugs x
____
Bill, I´m sorry for your losses. Henry sure looks forward to Spring, as do I!
____
Kate, yes, to butter! And the ookies. Yes, lost both my parents to cancer, too.
I the beginning I thought Traurig was the type of cheese, because that picture is right underneath.
I love real butter too, I buy the unsalted kind which costs more, but for the taste the extra $$ is worth it.
I always take the Irish one, yummm.
Sorry about your friend, letting go is hard. You are such a good person to chat with your lonely neighbor. My dad had Alzheimer's so I cherish the memories of when he recognized me. Mmm, butter and butter cookies. Henry has the right idea. Relax in the sunshine after eating butter cookies!
A sad tale - I miss my friend who died last year - I still think some days - 'Oh we can do this together ' and then remember she isn't here any more! Cancer is cruel!
I love butter, we used to have a 'healthy' margarine until I found how many additives there were in it!
Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
Butter is important to us kiwis, it makes food taste so much nicer as for cancer I wish it didn't exist, I lost my nana to breast cancer in 2003, her and I were very close.
CJ, thank you, W is a very nice man and it´s also rewarding to listen to him.
Yupp cookies and relaxing - Henry knows THE life!
____
Chris, yes, I sometimes wanna tell my Mum some things but... cancer... took her away long ago. As Dad, darn cancer. Sorry for your loss, too.
Yupp, butter is better, I agree!
____
Amy, yay to butter and somehow it seems I know hardly anyone who not was somehow involved with darn cancer - I´m sorry for your loss.
Do you know here in the UK one in two people will develop cancer at some point in their lives, according to the most accurate forecast to date from Cancer Research UK! That is a sobering thought, this disease affects so many people and families.
On a positive note - butter is best!
We like Kerrygold :)
Henry does look relaxed today.
Take care.
All the best Jan
So sad about T's first partner Iris and she was far too young to go. Cancer is a random foe! I love butter a bit too much 😉
