Be Brave In The Dark

Ah, isn´t Ingo brave, facing this dinosaur excavator shovel, found on a thought shortcut to ALDI :-)

We do have a shining light right opposite our condo again, good to know:

Christmas-Market(s) opened yesterday night.

Love all the kitsch.

Let There Be Light

The weather is more April-like atm, dark and grey one minute, bright sunshine the next.
From icy wind to nearly warm moments, crazy.

And when you go inside...

Too.Hot.
Way.Too.Hot.

Every season I wonder why they spend so much money heating the places up like that so the customer feels unwell.

It´s hard to stay positive atm.
After over 500 test-specifications done teamleader had a look, finally.
And now I spend my days doing stuff like:
Not decribing the error, as the developer wanted, but copying the original words 1:1 (which you cannot do directly with the program).
Don´t write "table" call it "section", not "is generated" but "shown" and stuff like that.
I´d find more important things to do, but I don´t discuss (anymore).

I still have the company car, too :-(

Maybe there is a light ahead, huh?

Look Up

This figure can be found in Amalienstreet.
Sadly the house right beside looks ugly. I really should´ve aproached from the other side...

This is St. Andreas:

Across the white horse you find this figure:

I can look up cause Ingo for sure keeps me from stepping into dog-poo :-)

It´s A G...

Bro and I sometimes talked about memories (yes, sadly this was the past. He has a family of his own now).
His memory starts when he was 3, mine way later, in pic above I might be 4 or even nearly 5 years old.

This is an overall, I loved this piece and in my memory the border was white... with green flowers!

Hm, how did that happen? Wishful thinking?
Ingo says I don´t look like a girl in that pic.

What´s your first memory and how old have you been?

White Christmas

I joined the FB-group "70s Memories by DoYouRemember" and saw pic above.
(I know, most of the stuff I was too little for, but some I do remember!)

The last years... no.
I think my Nieces never had a White Christmas, snow these days comes down February, if at all.

But back then? "Always"!

There was loads of snow (that was our garden, pic taken from the house)!

For long periods sometimes, too.

We made a snow-Easter-Bunny with enormous feet - and no ears - bet Til Schweiger saw this and later produced the movie Rabbit Without Ears, which became the "sixth on the list of the most successful German films in Germany since the beginning of the audience census in 1968" (Wiki).
There is part two, Two-eared chick and both as cute books, too.
Yeah... he owes us, no? ;-)

This year I don´t mind, I don´t have to drive and Ingo is a pretty safe driver in snow, too, but alas, the years back I hated snow deeply.
Looks like snow:

But it was frozen snow, you had to try and slip into those spaces - and getting out wasn´t easy, either.

For kids snow is great, but for drivers (like me) a pain!
Well, this year I wouldn´t mind a white Christmas or February.

Spring Again

It was a bit crazy yesterday morning.
Warm, birds chirping, felt like spring!

Later M said, St. Andreas is on fire - wee that would be horrible!
It looked different indeed, though:

While I took the pic M said, quick, other side, it´ll be over in no time!!, so I ran and hastily opened that window, too:

Looks like fire, no?

Do Dare

When we came back from Perth and the customer decided to get rid of his portal – and hence me – it was January, pitch-dark in the mornings.
I walked to the new "work"-place passing Carl Friedrich Gauss and then had to take the route beside the unlit park.
I chose to walk on the street, not the sidewalk, it felt safer.

Spring and Summer the mornings were bright and I chose the route through the park, past the fountain.

Come Autumn I noticed the construction site blocked the way via Carl Friedrich, so I asked the town when the work´ll be done, mentioning the unlit park as only other way (other you want to make a larger detour).

I was "furious" when to my e-mail-request I got a paper-letter (paper!) saying in an arrogant tone they are “working according to plan”, that, as resident, I had been informed of the steps – I am not a resident of that area!! – and for further questions I can call via phone. Why not use e-mail?
Signed as “Dipl.-Ing.”, which, btw is a title I share with that arrogant fella (I just didn´t use it in my request, what for, I thought – in the aftermath I might´ve gotten a nicer answer?).

I did not e-mail and complain, other things took my attention.

Since Wednesday the “safe” route is open again.

The following morning I forgot.
Yesterday… I was thinking.

Hmmm. I´m so used now to walk the short route through the pitch-dark park with my torch in one hand, the pepper foam in the other.
I´m so used to the two cyclists and the occasional jogger or dog walker. I don´t understand why the latter two do it without a torch, but, hey, I don´t feel unsafe anymore.
The “safe” route via the houses where people might hear me scream and come for help if there was an incident seemed a tad longer.

I chose the pitch-dark park.
But I still, when out of the park, walk on the street, not the sidewalk.

Reckon this means I, if slowly, can adapt to new situations, huh?
My stomach still often hurts when panic strikes, job-wise.
And so far I didn´t do other than getting my picture taken (awful!) and scanning my certificates. Oh, and having signed up at one job-machine, but I haven´t had a look, I´m too “scared”.

Scary btw... Saw this shortly before you reach 4th floor at my workplace...

Well, I will have to “do dare”, right.
Can´t be darker than the park, or can it. Said the biggest chicken in town.
(I´m no certified tester and meeting new people or even selling myself is horrible for me)

Too Late, Too Early, Just Stay

Found these two the other day and thought about waiting till Halloween next year.
But then... they must´ve been sitting in their lost place for at least two years, so I clicked them on to enjoy - who knows if they´d made it just yet another year (and be forgotten again).

This Halloween-fellow stays all year round.

After all the Christmas deco is never put away, either (no Easter deco ever btw).
Hm. Guess I should give that peeler a good wash!

Colors Make A Difference

We have true grey November days now, most trees strip naked, it´s a sad sight.

I´m really waiting for Christmas decorations to brighten up this time of the year!

dm at least started a bit:

Nice idea, no?

We Found It!

We went to get Tom Tasty and on the way back we found it, the hole to another universe!

We won´t use it, though, we´re pretty happy in this one.
Darn it, I wish we´d found a hole to Perth instead.
Also because.... look and this deco!

So lame!

And also because of this nasty weather. I don´t mind the occasional rain, in fact I love (a wonderful summer´s) rain, but the icy wind is no joy.

And That´s Why

I wanted to watch Eureka, starting with pilot.
Put in the DVD, chose English, no subtitles.

Got subtitles!!! Woah, dang!

Put the DVD out, repeat process.

Subtitles again!
... In English cause it starts with a German quote from Albert Einstein.

My brain at first did not get the difference, crazy, huh? Same to you?

And.
Well.
The usual!

Translated wrong!

"Zu wenig" is not "a little"!
It is just "little"!
And yes, that does make a huge difference.

"Zu viel" is not "a lot"!
It is "too much"!

And, as Ingo added, "Wissen", "knowledge", doesn´t even appear.

Why?!

Really, I just plain hate that!

Who does this???
And why...

And two episodes later I got confused again cause...

I bought the set here and, mind you... is this really necessary?

But then again... In Perth I got Jamie´s 15 and 30 minute meals and I can never give it to Bro cause it doesn´t even come with subtitles. So what about deaf people, Jamie??? (Bro is not deaf, but not so fluent in English, so subtitles might be helpful.)

And then, by no means I´m talented myself, but I sure had to laugh about this one (they spoke some Asian language)!

Reminded me of when we were in Sun Pictures in Broome watching Life is Beautiful in the original, means Italian with English subtitles and we were the only ones laughing bitterly about the translation of the German Na#i...

The brain is a funny thing, no?

I Love Him

But that´s not the point right now.

Do you know what this is?

I don´t remember where I read it, but someone said all his life he thought Brussels Sprout was a person and he was wondering what bad things that person had done cause "everybody hates Brussels Sprout" - big LOL.

Just how on earth can one get that idea???

Finally it´s the time of the year again to enjoy this "fella"!

We´re no family so this makes two meals, right.
You know Ingo?
Right...

Somehow... those colors... (hope you´re not color-blind, otherwise to you we´re the most boring persons in that area (I had a team leader who could not see red/green)...

Well, here we go:

I looove Brussels Sprout btw.
In German it´s called "Rosenkohl" as the leaves look a bit like the ones of roses - and who hates roses, right?

Oh, poor Brussels, I ate you up with delight!

How about you? Love or hate?

Hey, Honey

Pic taken a while ago when being at Schadt´s with Ingo.

With Bestmalz you certainly brew beer.
Here, actually:

You can book a Brewinghouse-Tour and colleague S did.
20 peeps can attend, we were 19. NameSis asked the new boss if she can bring her boyfriend. Old boss would´ve said: Sure. New boss said no.
Why? With the costs for the tour comes one small beer and a meal pp. And every person counts now.
I sit opposite the admin and certainly hear what smartphone colleagues get who "need" one. Not a cheapy like mine (AU$ 85), nooo, we talk about € 800. Cause... the customer might see it, right?

Anyhows.

We had the small beer and then the brewer came over to explain the process of brewing.
And. He was drunk, I kid you not! Only a bit, but... bummer, huh.

Cold in here it was!

And that´s kinda beer already.
A tad surprised I was finding it open. Tour-guests could do something stupid...

Afterwards we sat down to have a meal and more beer, which was still in the budget, don´t ask for logic here.
It was a tad embarassing when our waiter looked me in the eye and said, not asked, "a large Märzen"..... ummmm...

Colleague A who sat opposite me flushed the small beer down in only one gulp- As consequence it was two gulps for the big one (0,5 l)!
Sadly the meal wasn´t that yummy but large.
A and E helped me clear the plate, so, all good.
I left early with E, so I haven´t yet my "diploma" - will I add it to my vitae? ;-)

The title?
Ages ago a colleague asked me if we wanna go to Schadt´s (I never had heard of that place before). Sounded like "Schatz" aka "honey" and I really said, "WHAT?!" - I mean, hello?! He knew I was with Ingo, LOL...
