Thank You (Jamie)
(plate: The Frog Prince)
I might've told before I was banned from the kitchen after I threw a fit when a fresh ale (in pieces already) jumped out of the pan and danced in front of me, I was 5, I guess.
Over time I (long gone from home) enjoyed cooking shows, be it Tim Mälzer or Jamie Oliver.
Especially the latter.
I started with his 15-minute-shows and by now, pffft...
I have confidence!
I need no recipe, I just do. Doesn't look that bad, huh?
This was yummy.
Maybe this is boring to you.
But... whilst my Brother was taught how to cook I was not.
Ingo loves to tell how I (tried to) make Sauerkraut-with pineapple even, ready to go, from a can.
It said "Heat for 5 minutes". Hello??? Boy, that was crunchy!!!
I did mention Jamie, right?
I read his books and when a recipe seemed tempting I got everything needed, watched the DVD-session... you get the idea.
This man helped me big!
I just cook around now :-)
And it's always (mostly :-) yummy even!
I needed pepper for the last one and passed by this:
Aww, no?
As we are German we do not drink wine so goulash it will be next (we do have a wine opened in early December, guess it has to go?)
The other bottle I could not pass by:
I don't like sweets and haven't tried it yet, but if it says "Miele"it has to be good, right!
And... "good"...
:-)
I'll never cook for you, I do not feel that confident - but... old as I am... I learned! I can do it! (for me)
Lion of the day:
Do you like/love to cook?
I do now.
I miss You (Ingo)
... and Mum (words by my Dad, miss him, too).
No matter what I do. Never good enough.
Always there for others.
Sorry. Trying to get back on track and am left left alone.
Never be honest...
I´m sick of it all. This is my blog, my diary and very pretty please feel free to just skip this, OK?
No comments wanted.
But I have to get it out.
I miss love.
Sometimes life sucks very big.
We have but ONE life....

Not The Last Time
On Wednesday 27th, this February, we went to the city of Perth again.
Well, we hopped on the bus #480 in Madeley and there was a "lady" speaking very, very loud to the driver.
Actually she was babbling.
It´s the one behind Ingo and the boys in the first pic (this is Warwick, waiting for the train).
People were shaking their heads until a man, I think he was an Aboriginal, got up and shouted, "no talking to the driver!!!".
Some were laughing, some were clapping hands and she finally shut up!
The gang joined us at The Belgian, kinda relaxed, those four, huh?
Ingo was already a tad sad that our holiday was to be over too soon...
Another great reflection:
I just love it!
And I miss it....
So much has changed!
raine square has changed, our pub is gone... Perth is new every time we come there.
Some for the better and some things not really...
I leave you with this for now, it wasn´t a picnic for Ingo ;-)
Ingo was just the caretaker, the lady fell in love with our Mielebär :-)
Thankful: For the woman that gave me the brightest smile!
In Braunschweig at the red lights you have to be quick! So we ran - right at each other.
Why she smiled? Her Gurri was open so I didn´t see it right away, and I was still wearing my Gurri, too :-)
Probably one of the last days as spring is really on the way, yayyy!

Thank You, Neighbour
(Not only?) in Braunschweig we have a tradition:
You don´t love/need/want something anymore, collect it, put it in a box and have it in front of your house.
People will come and (eventually) take it and are happy.
Guess!!
Neighbour #12 didn´t want this anymore!
The last item, lucky me, I grinned all the way home!
The Little Prince and you can put in permanent dates to remember, how very sweet and cool is this? It was empty, too! Unused!
As mentioned, this is from one of my favorite books, sadly in German.
Translations often fail to bring on the real feeling, I think, no?
But then.. better this than nothing, right!
If I feel like it I have my book :-)
T (no Braunschweig-person) always says this is illegal - pffff, what do you think, do you do this, too? I do :-)
This neighbour sure made me smile big and the calendar now hangs right by my PC.
And for people like that I am thankful, as for so much more!
(Like yesterday was my SIL´s birthday and I called her - she really was happy about that! Despite she had guests (I didn´t know, it was a Thursday after all) we chatted for over half an hour.)

Never Happens
At Carousel later that day (see last post) we went to have a....
... a beer as we went to meet friends at Grill´d later :-)
Not two burgers (with bacon) in two hours!
We should´ve gone there more often as...
... yummy menue ...
... yupp...
When I went to where you have to go at times I saw this:
Crazy!
I practically grew up more or less right beside an ALDI (3 minutes to walk) and they had liquor always just like that. As every supermarket, kiosk, gas station etc in Germany.
I dunno. Does it help to have special liquor stores? Do people drink less, what do you think?
When you get out of Woolies in Kingsway SC you automatically look into BWS (beer, wine, spirits) and it´s always full.
It doesn´t even help that tabacco and ciggies are really expensive, I see still (too) many people smoking.
I mean...
How soon do you need this stuff? Even deliveries ASAP!
Me? I could die for a burger right now!
It was sad to have that last one with friends Sami, M and his Son as it meant we have to go home soon...
While I type I see this:
No blue, sunny sky, 6C and icky.
How I´d love to have another burger at Grill´d right now!

An Ode To Dad
I lost an earring in Perth.
So. I "had to" go and buy a new one. Right?
At Lovisa I found this irresistible bunch and then I thought... hey, and why not?
That right ear of mine is nearly gone hearing-wise anyways.
And this will remind me of a wonderful holiday in Perth, too, fair enough!
In Germany you walk into a Goldsmith's place or such to get "shot", HA! Not in Australia!
You need to go to a piercing-studio.
And there, in the first one, they had a sign: No pistols.
Hmmm, what???
We waited and waited, another customer left and then we did, too.
At Carousel we went into another.
No pistols!
I signed up. Yes, I had to sign up!!!!
In Germany you walk in, shot, boom, that's it.
Perth?
Cause we terminated our Westpac account (bank) I had my passport with me, other I could not have given proof I am over 18 years of age (and I kid you not!).
I had to give my passport number, my current address etc, answer questions, amongst if I tend to faint!!!
What is in stock for me here????
Ingo went to Australian Geographic and I went in.
Cute to add: When I came out, Ingo was there :-)
Time-warp!!!
I was three or four-something and begged my Dad, a goldsmith, amongst other, to give me earrings.
No, no and no.
Months later my cousins from Switzerland came to visit, Yvette, one year younger than me and Yvonne, one year older (I do not make those names up!!).
They got earrings!!!
I sneaked in between them and my Dad had no choice but: "if you cry I let go!!!"
Boy, did I bite my tongue.
Back then you had something like a syringe. Disinfection, syringe, golden earring, blood. There was blood dripping.
And then, ages later Bro "shot" me. Disinfection, boom, done, no blood, no pain.
But in Perth I learned this is not really clean, so we were back to the old way!
Hey, Dad, I thought of you. I miss you. I got two, for you, just like back then.
Bet you hate it, too ;-)
I could've had my tongue cut in half, I did not do that, happy, Dad? ;-)
Not that I´m the weird one. I never dress up as a man (though all three T´s AND Ingo said to me (as a compliment for being easy) "you´re not a real woman" ;-)...).
That´s a wig he´s wearing... and fake boobs at least!
Can you tell me why they dressed up in the 70´s like that? Was it some kind of "revolution"? Just fun? Jealousy?
Miss him.
And if you see me bending to the right a little.
Well.
Left ear: One earring.
Right ear six. Right arm: plate of titanium (since 1994 due to a broken arm - doctors advised me to just keep it, won´t break that one again! ;-)... and, no I don´t beep at the airport.)...

It´s A Beautiful Day
Sorry for the earworm.
Let´s do another time-warp to Tuesday 26th of February?
Off to the City of Perth we went, awww, just look what this lady did with her cabin we always pass by on the way to the bus - beautiful, no?
One of the last who may stay as long as they want (now it´s 90 days max, big buhuuu).
View to the New Old Horse Shoe Bridge:
For lunch.. well... a tad crazy but in Perth I´m never really hungry!
The menu said kids only, but when I explained it was no problem :-)
We came out of The Belgian just to see this:
Not really a fan of Steampunk, but then again... cool.
Isn´t this a beautiful place?
On we went to Carousel, I´ll show you soon!
I´m sorry, it´s hard to end this series.
I´ll have to wait two whopping years to come back.
My future here is unknown, kinda, guess I´ll let go of the new medication after talking to my doc tomorrow, nothing works for me.
I look like a teenager and not in a good way, even my legs... arg... red dots everywhere and I have bad dreams about my future, not the thing the meds should do!
Whilst "other people" don´t have to do anything I have to explain and proof everything.
It´s driving me nuts and it also does not motivate me.
Bad combination.
Yet I know I should be thankful somehow...
I´ll give you a glimpse to cheer you up! :-)
Ahhh, sooo beautiful and calm, no?
