I had a project with a colleague at ESE:

Company Fortescue in WA planned - we had a contract already, which then was never signed - to transport iron ore from the mines near Tom Price all the way "down" to Port Headland via Licium Batteries, empty - the batteries...

 

By arrivial, their dream, those batteries are fully charged and after onloading the freight ready to go "green" back up to Tom Price.

 

First try for help: a famous company in GB, who said "no".

 

mM and I did research and I said: no.

 

Ingo and I saw such a train for real in WA in 1999:

3km long - we had to wait, they go at ca. 30km/h - took forever.

My concerns: 

 

a) the energy to start a heavy train like that!!!

b) Pilbara: HOT - HOT - HOT!

c) on iron rails: more HOT

d) heat and batteries, one goes kaaaa-booom and in no time the whole set explodes.

 

Yes. At that "speed" the staff can stop the train and run away. 

In the desert.

What if that happens in Port Headland??? 

 

No one wants to be responsible for that. In Perth I - too late this February - spotted the company, but what to do anyways?

 

 

Maybe our host´s Hubby, who also was into railway - has an idea?

 

Wish of Fortescue: At least one has to be willing to pop by in person once in a while.

ME!!! mM not, but ME! So YES!

How has Tom Price changed since 1999??? I´d land in Perth, visit our friends and... oh!!!

Nope.

We were too convincing, the technology is not "ripe" yet.

It would be a project in... brrrrr ... Norway! An old German train, refurbished and back on track.

Have done this before - FUN! Interesting, engineering art!

I think this counts as mural?

I went to Magniviertel, to a second hand clothes shop to give some still good stuff away and on the way back I saw a bunch of murals as...

 

I think it´s strange.

My dentist, a very, very nice lady, drives her Hubby nuts with selling used stuff via Amazon. 

I still wait for my job, yet give away for free. 

My rocking-moose - a 2-y-o will hopefully enjoy it, her Grandma picked "him" up last week....

 

Wish I could join you... 

 

Dear host, your friend who asked if the store, Horton, later Galeria Kaufhof, still exists... nope.

Maybe a music-school or...??? ... "soon"...

At least a place for artists now. No name, sadly, but more to come.

Sadly no artist - found this mural in Wendenstrasse right by TU (technical university) - a bar.

Not to wonder. As a student I could not afford this but what I see these days what kids "allow" themselves ... I could cry.

My Mom let me prepare bread for school, and I did this for Ingo, too.

These days... kids buy at the grocery, the unhealthy, expensive stuff... "and I wonder"... 

No ear-worm intended - go crazy over SALSA! 

 

Sadly Ingo and I have a hard time dancing.

Yes, healthy for body and brain! I know... And weeeee... did we enjoy listening to this music and happiness in Cuba and Jamaica!

 

 We did enjoy those cars from afar and took but pics, especially in Varadero/Cuba.

Reisbude - Rice Stand

 

On my way I found this dragon on Altewiekring 52A.

 

Wiek is  a historical term for a trading or market settlement. This obviously was a ring around such a centre.
AI goes on: 

The “Altewiek” urban district: Braunschweig emerged in the Middle Ages from  several formerly independent districts (known as “Weichbilder”). The oldest of these areas, surrounding the Magnikirche, is still called Altewiek (alte Wiek) today and serves as a direct reminder of the city’s historical origins as an early settlement on the Oker.

And who knows? Maybe Duke Henry the Lion after all did NOT kill, only injured the Dragon in South Africa and he is back now...? 

 

Reisbude may not seem to give credit, they serve Pad Thai, fresh sushi and refreshing homemade drinks (I did not stop). 

 

And maybe the dragon even throws a party?

 You find it at Katharinenstraße 35A where once was a nice beer-garden.

 

 

This was TASEK´s intention:

"The name is derived from the famous behavioral biology experiment `Universe 25` conducted by researcher John B. Calhoun. In this experiment, the behavior of mice was studied in an environment with unlimited food but extremely limited space. TASEK takes up this theme and raises the question in public spaces of how human coexistence changes when material abundance meets limited social space."
