Grey, Grey, Blown Away

Yikes, it got stormy over here.
Well, actually I like storm (when being at the ocean especially).

Birds are lucky, they can fly to warmer, sunnier places. Empty nests here, hence.
Braunschweig does have some ugly places, just imagine you´d have to live here...

So, what can you do?
Go for a brisk walk, get one of your fav veggies - and CHEESE of course...

And have a very yummy soup!
Sadly all week long since Ingo cannot share due to health issues.

Lion of the day...

He whispered, "no wrong weather, just wrong clothes, so pick the right ones :-)" - Henry and his brothers are clever, no.
And he was right, according to my Polar fitness-watch I did 30 220 steps, 18.3 km (I´m small) and burned some 2730 calories (I did some training, too).
AND!!! Always go out, also in "bad" weather, you get some vitamin D after all, right?

Let´s Go Back In Time (For Real)

Maybe you´ve "enjoyed" this book already, in case not:
It´s so worth it.

As you maybe know Brian May is also big into photography, always was, stereo photography included.

Certainly I had to have this:

Brian May is also a wonderful writer, the book was a joy.

You have the feeling you´re really there, just use the glasses that come with each book.

With them you see so much more details and it is really three-dimensional.

You´re no Queen-fan, well just enjoy Brian - or his writing - when this astrophysicist takes you into space and to the moon!

He re-tells the incredible story of the Space race, astronauts, cosmonauts, he certainly got to meet Neil Armstrong and other men who braved up to leave good ole Mother Earth.

Actually I´m not really a fan.
Thinking about going to Mars or intesify the research to fight cancer more?

So, this book I actually got for Ingo, yet it is interesting, and, as said, very well written.

The pictures sure make it worthwhile.

Lion of the day:

So, buckle up, put your space-helmet on and go for it! :-)

A Great Role Model

I went to see my doc as my back was killing me again.
Seems it´s got nothing to do with my scoliosis but... weak muscles (test was Tuesday, outcome next week) and sitting wrong.
Amongst other I wanted a corset and something that helps me having my back straight a little less visible for summer. I´d seen the latter for €15 in the catalogue that Ingo gets, "the modern housewife" (yes, Ingo, not me).

We didn´t find anything else, hence - and also because (buy local, right) - I went to a medical supply store in town.

The lady informed me they have these things - in a way better quality and that I can get it on prescription.

Thursday when coming from the doc, I went back.
Got one straight away - it was another nice lady who showed me several models, showed me how to put it on - I kept it on directly, too, a relief!

The price is tad higher, the corset did cost some €200,- (I had to pay €30,-).

I have a great doctor, but it was her who informed me - on her own, without me even having to ask - that I shouldn´t wear it all day long, otherwise the muscles don´t have to work at all no more and the problem becomes bigger even. She explained how to clean, gave me a sample... very nice.

Oh, what you do against a bad back!

But back to the title:

It was a lot of paperwork for the insurance company, I had to sign three times (!) and she needed my insurance card, too.
Whilst writing she stopped shortly, looked up to me, smiled and said, "belated happy Birthday!".
Wow, such an observant woman, that´s a role model!

I remember having my only car accident. The police came, needed to see my ID. They wrote everything down.
No Happy Birthday from them (it was on my birthday - "sadly", otherwise I could celebrate twice a year).

I think I would´ve been like the officers, not seeing that same date, either?
Another lesson learned, it´s so easy to make someone happy by just paying attention a bit.

This for "Tom´s "Signs 2".

Lion of the day:

That´s how my back feels like!

T STands For Too Yummy To Be True

When you kiss a frog you get a... prince?
Do not kiss him, you get:

... a Solyanka!
I had to get over 40 years of age to have my first!
It´s "a thick, spicy and sour Russian soup" (Wiki), that was served a couple of years ago on a company-fun-trip to Magdeburg, which is in former GDR, it is a common dish there.
We have a different receipe as given at Wiki, though.

It´s the second time we made it at home, this time we were a tad frustrated as we didn´t get the right ingredients.

Remember the lucky penny our washing machine gave me?

It was even MORE yummy with the "wrong" ingredient!!!

It was to die for!

Another 60-90 sketch (This is what it´s all about):

And my choice of drink... a Hippie-kiss:-)

Taking part in Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday".

I´m doing this as a "hero", btw! ;-)
Well, according to my fitness-watch!

Lion of the day:

Bet even Henry would love this soup ;-)

Guidance

Today we go to the doctor, how about that?

It´s at the HEH, also Herzogin Elisabeth Hospital.

The duchess (Herzogin) Elisabeth founded the clinic for the crippled, as sanatorium, cure and nursing home in 1909.
Luckily things have improved since then ;-)

I enjoy how they guide you through via murals.
Here my cam helped a bit making it artier :-)

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.

Like a miracle, btw, my back is better! I have the world-best orthopedist! And, sorry, no, he cannot take in new patients, my T tried and he got a sad "sorry, no, we´re full to the brim"... Am I lucky, right?!

Cadibarrawirracanna - WHAT?!

Yes, that was 1999, when our lives were still OK.
Full of hope.

We were at Lake Cadibarrawirracanna.

In the middle of literally nothing you found "water".

I so wish I could find it here. Bureaucracy is killing me.
Him, too.
Search for a life, search for being taken care of ...

My insurance company ... a story too long (they say "Hi new customer" to me (am with them since 2001) and ... too long - I will walk all the long way to them come Monday).

Work insurance, nearly same.
I am FED UP.
I am SCARED.
My private life is GONE.

This is the first time.
I admit I am a looser. If I had the courage I´d end it all.

I did my best and it´s never enough. What did you do??? Went to the pharmacy, asked for help - it WORKED!
I didn´t get up four (4) times to go at night, no, it worked.
Yet... what is the use.

I am as this "lake".

In a nowhere I am by myself.

Hope you are doing better.

I WANT to WORK.
I am SCARED.
Only one ear, life-/work- "experience" as an "IT Analyzer", that´s "BLABLA".

I am lost.
Sorry.
Isn´t blogger a kind of diary?

I want to randomly look back to this and say:

"Oh, bad times, now all is OK".

No Lion today.

Wish I would be there again, at Lake Cadi, as they call you.

The Red Door

Took this pic after we had a very local beer at the CRABBS-people - buy... ummm... drink local, right?
This is a bunch of young mates who revived a local beer Ingo´s Dad enjoyed back then (it´s a small world, huh).

A tad creepy, huh, the scenery.
Reminded me of this:

I watched the movie in our local cinema in Seesen, just a few houses up the road back then (now it´s long gone).
As maybe every girl I fell in love with E.T. ... and forgot.

Then at our local (here we go again) shopping centre (Madeley) - the Kingsway Shopping Centre I found this book at the free library they have now.

I was thrilled!!! I left other books there and here in Braunschweig at our local free library, but I took this one home.
E.T. was a botanist, I´d totally forgotten - or, having seen the movie translated to German back then they did not reveal this properly?
This is why we (have to) buy DVDs - so we can watch in the original.

We have to fight over here!!!

Ingo got Quantum Leap.

Aka...

And each and every time you have to fight your way through to get to hear the original :-(
Why are there so many German people incapable of speaking English?
Yes. We get translated every f##### bit to German!

Oh, how did we enjoy going to the cinema in Broome, they have the oldest outdoor cinema in the world!
And with the newest technology, too :-)

I remember we watched Life is Beautiful - we watched EVERY movie.
And... bummer.
That is an English title, right?
They give the original, right?

That was ITALIAN!!!!

So. Two German blokes sit down, hear Italian (which we sadly do not speak) and have English subtitles.
Greaaaat.

90 seconds later we watched a movie.
The brain is an awesome thing. You did not have the feeling you are surrounded by two non-native languages, you simply watched a movie!

Sadly we had to "laugh" badly when the German got mean.
People near us looked at us in ... disapprovement.

I leave you with a beautiful pic of Broome...

Sorry, I meant beautiful, not scary! ;-)

Different one: My Brother gave me his Louis de Funès-series and dumb me certainly picked the French language - with German subtitles.
A disaster. 1/8 maybe I understood, the rest I had to read.

It was easier with Italian, which I only understand "Pizza" ;-)

Speaking of. I remember I had a customer. He was Italian but lived and worked in Ireland.
Can you imagine his accent? Worse: When I have trouble understanding someone on the phone I tend to talk louder, no logic in that.

My colleagues sure had fun, LOL.
Lion of the day:

Thank you, Bill, for the Irish Lion!
