FFO And Smiles And Laughter

With this mask I join  Nicole´s FFO and Gillena.

And for Annie´s Smiles....

 And this..

 And some funnies:

Tempting, isn´t it?

(I´ve learned that some of you think these are my words, my opinion, but it is from the internet and I think it´s interesting. so I share.
All orange text is links, you can click on it for more info, but now, here goes)

"33 retro dishes that are rarely served today

 Sole Véronique

Another turn-of-the-century invention that is largely forgotten today: light white fish in a creamy sauce, a creation by the famous French chef Auguste Escoffier. He poached the sole fillets in white wine and garnished them with a sauce made from heavy cream, herbs and grapes. This delicious dish was deservedly popular in its heyday, especially in French restaurants and bistros."

I´ll pass...

Basketball In Space

I show you the whole canvas as it shows the groups that are there: Some creative and some just jealous taggers. But they respect one another!

I went Saturday on a rainy day cause the day before kids really played basketball - and you are not allowed to take pics then...

The artist is WORK SHO - I found nothing online, reckon it´s the kids who play there.

This is for Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.

 Vichyssoise

This chilled soup was invented by a French chef at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in New York in 1917 and was a staple on every fine-dining menu for decades. Leeks, onions, potatoes, chicken broth, and cream are cooked and pureed together to create this creamy delicacy. Today, Vichyssoise is only found in old-fashioned restaurants—a shame, because by now we'd finally perfected its pronunciation!"

Henry Goes Japan

Our Henry 🦁- multi-culti (and yes, that is (me in) Gurri).
This is for Tom´s signs2
Here is one I never thought I need so long... I think to remember a "24-hour-promise" on this...

The series (hups, a jump back in the series-sector):

"Not just cars: these things were invented in Germany

 NIVEA Creme

NIVEA Creme was the first stable water-in-oil emulsion. It was introduced in 1911 by the German company Beiersdorfer. The emulsifier Eucerit is made from lanolin, which is obtained from sheep's wool. This is the key to the unique properties of NIVEA Creme.

What We See

Saw this beautiful summery sign last week.
A boat trip for free at / from the raft station.
But we didn´t go, weather was good, so reckon it was full to the brim.

If I didn´t wear glasses there would be another option to get on river Oker:

But with my clumsiness that´s not a good idea and contacts are no option, either.
Here is a sign of a different kind, I found this again at FB, this is written in first person, but it is not from me:

"Damn, That's Interesting
Storytelling Feed  ·
  ·
Today I painted a new residents nails at work and as we were going over colors, she mentioned she wanted clear.

The only thought that came to my mind was 'CLEAR?! That's no fun.'
I asked her why she wanted clear and she said,

'My hands are ugly, I don't want to draw attention to them.'

I then carefully responded with, 'Your hands tell the story of your life. They tell the story of love, of care and adventure. These hands have touched and held things that most people can only wish to one day.'

And with that, she went with the color pink for her nails.
Sometimes what we are so insecure with, others find beauty in. 💖

A sign you should see things from another perspective once in a while.

So, with all of these I join Tom´s Signs2

And, not done yet:

"Albert Einstein's creative and brilliant quotes

On the subject of talent

I don't have any special talent. I'm just passionately curious."

Wanna Join Me?

In the Summertime.... when the weather... hello earworm.... I finally sat on the balcony reading.
Here are some highlights from Brian May´s 3-D-booK.

Enjoy maybe with this, sound on!

Did you know some whopping 33 years after the mission of the Saturn V rocket an artifact fell down on earth in 2002? 33 years in orbit!

The moon-region named "Ocean of Storms" had been visited by many unmanned spacecraft, amongst Surveyor 3, Ranger 7, Soviet Lunar 5 - it was called "Pete´s Parking Lot" by Pete Conrad from the Apollo 12 -mission :-)
A funny man, he named the LEC (Lunar Equipment Conveyor) the "Brooklyn clothesline".

And Alan Bean by accident left some film rolls behind, they´re still on the Moon´s surface!
What a book!

On Earth they were direct: Gene Kranz with Apollo 13 on a problem in outer space: "Failure is not an option."

On Apollo 14 they nicknamed the MET (Modular Equipment Transporter) "lunar rickshaw".
Love these little details I had no idea of!
They were a bunch!

"Shepard plopped a golf ball  onto the lunar surface... as test to the weaker lunar gravity, relative to Earth." He couldn´t pick it up by hand and  tried another shot. "'Hey, you got more dirt than ball', said Mitchell".

I liked this very much and wonder why just in space this seems to be possible:
"Alongside the direct competition, Soviet and American Space explorers were forming a brotherhood that would become stronger and stronger as the months and years passed."

Teach this in school!!!

Apollo 15: Queen played their first show outside of London just a month before space-launch, in 1970 (if I read that correct out of the context).
The four lunar rovers, btw cost $38 million, so with "$9.5 million each, price-wise, they definitely  leave Ferraris and Lamborghinis in the dust!"

They were lying, too!
Scott on the way spotted a large piece of vesicular basalt and despite time was short he stopped the vehicle and went for it "while Irwin distracted controllers in Houston. Because Scott pretended he had stopped to tighten his seatbelt, this rock was dubbed the Seatbelt Basalt".
Cute, huh?

Apollo 17: They used duct tape to fix the problem, duct tape! Always good to have that at hand...

And certainly Chris Hadfield on the ISS...

Depending on how fast you read... the video from minute 02:48 shows our wonderful planet at night...
Originally by David Bowie and the day after Bowie´s first recording Queen came in with the song  "Earth", back then under the name "Smile " and without Freddie.

The rest you need to read yourself and hopefully you are more successful than me to "get" the 3d-visions.
I sat on the balcony like an idiot, glasses by the side, the Little Owl in my face, trying to find the right spot!

If you are new see here, with video!
It´s a GREAT video, I promise, this is a great school-project!
Well, logical,  Braunschweig is/ was the City of Science (2007) and they keep on going!

Meet Critter Limpy

I got a set to crochet this Lion.
Ages 8+.
I was too dumb and gave it to my friend fK. Also an engineer.
It took her 3 months and she finished Limpy yesterday at NAMASTE after lunch.

Why I named him Limpy?

By accident (haha) his right arm is "hanging down" - just like mine!
I once broke it, the bone got infected blablabla, I cannot do everything with that "cucumber-arm" no more.

And then came Limpy! Ingo calls him a new family member as often the disabled end up here.

From all the sitting when being made his tail stays up, too.
She bought more wool to make a second, now that she learned how that goes!
Her wife can sew (well, actually Ingo as well...) and she could help.

What fK also gave me...

Her kids don´t need them no more so now - come I am allowed to do real sport again I have no excuse to not start on the Halfbike!
Wish me luck I manage. mT is positive about this.

After NAMASTE (Indian Streetfood, I took home 2/3 of a small portion) we had frozen yoghurt.
I could by no means eat that all.
But it was a fun meet-up.

Imagine: Two women, one shows the other pics on the smartphone.
Guess.
The new bogie!!! 🤣
I just BET men thought she shows me pics of her kids or holidays... Bogie - but this one was her baby kinda, too!  (A bogie is part of a railway car.)

fK now has a copy of the Aussie-calendar (pic one) - see Wednesday 1st for the next story and I also got her this:

An owl is a critter, too!
She often has long days due to the twins and I fell in love with this cookie cause it says:

"WACH IST DAS SCHöN." It´s with caffeine. You actually say:
"ACH IST DAS SCHöN." - WAch means awake, "ACH" means, "MY, IS THAT NICE."

If a bit different, this is for...

Eileen´s Critters! Hope these count...

Henry 🦁

 "You are safe with me!"

P.S. I sadly have to leave you with a processed animal....

Foreign Minister (!!!) Annalena Baerbock was in South Africa and wanted to say....
"South Africa’s path to freedom has been a beacon of hope ..."
But... she...
"South Africa’s path to freedom has been a bacon of hope ..."

And she was not speaking free, she read it from her notes, too!

So now here in Germany (only?) everyone is making fun of her:

Wow. I think this is so super-embarrassing... she should get fired? I mean... I never heard anything that made sense from her. And now she managed to make the world laugh about Germany. Also her pronunciation... uhhhh, boy. And Ingo said she was in London for a longer time even! Embarrassing....
But, you know... I nearly feel sorry for her.
Bacon of hope 🥓... I think pigs don´t really see it that way! I would want to vanish!!!
Maybe that´s Vodka, not water in her bottle/glass... I was told at Siemens (at least that one team) when the project is on hold they do just that, drinking vodka!!!! Good they had no me in that project.... I already get knocked out by raspberry-schnapps! > 🥓🥐

Hope you love bacon. Have a great Saturday!

If you speak German... look here. She claimes the attack on the US was on September 9th (she tries to refer to 9/11).

I end with this, thank you, Tom:
