It´s Because, Kleiner Ingo

Thanks to Facebook (I have to say that because Ingo keeps grumbling about this network...) Ingo became a volunteer at The Giants and hence three days really went to work.
Actually four, they had a prep-day, too.

Really, it was a once in a lifetime and that t-shirt sure is a treasure!

This is not taken from the cabin but the main door in our house.

It was one of the last superwarm summer-days.
And whilst it took Ingo like forever to buy a cigar to celebrate, I waited outside and had a look at the kid´s store nearby.

And someone looked at me in his funny shorts and said, buy me!.
I went inside - and since Ingo didn´t know I was in there I hectically said what I want and that I have to stay at the door to see if the hubs comes out from next door.

I only made a dash to the cash-out to give my pin-number and the friendly staff was probably wondering if I´m a tad crazy but brought me everything to the door.

Little did I know I´ll wait a loooong time outside still!

You wonder what I possibly can get Ingo in a kid´s store?

I mean, seriously, no?

The matching color of the shirts was not the cause, though...

That was just a bonus "Klein-Ingo" was giving.
When Ingo was very little, the suspenders were crossed, but later he wore it like his mini-self:

With this pic in mind... would you´ve walked away from that donkey?
I couldn´t.

Road To The 70´s

Yesterday I got up relatively late, had brekkie and took off to our old bakery to get Ingo his bread.

Since I was on foot I made a stop at the butcher...

Despite it was only 09:00 am I was the third customer who asked for their self-made Ragout Fin (which they´d run out of).
I got Ingo his "salad with strips of bologna-type sausage, gherkins and mayonnaise dressing" - we call it simply "Fleischsalat", seems German is not always the complicated language, huh?
And for myself liverwurst with truffle, yum.

This cute lille shop sadly wasn´t open yet:

As goes for the hairdresser and this new 70´s shop (luckily, huh! I might´ve fallen for something...):

70er Jahre Lampen (upcycling).

Good thing I´m the early bird!

Another new shop:

"Servus" you say in Bavaria and "Fischkopp" at the ocean.

I wonder if they really sell these and if so if the owner takes them with him each time he leaves the bike outside?

Was good to see new shops add.
Sad to see (Ghetto-)Netto and ALDI closed down there.

Maybe Never Again

I try to be optimistic, but maybe I´ll never see this again.
This week I´m on "holiday" and bet next week around that time it´ll be dark still.

"Tough times" for nightblind persons like myself.
But "never again"?

Who knows if Volkswagen still needs me once they´ve changed to another technique.
To a system even dumber than the one they have now, where at least you´re free to use HTML and JavaScript to do what you want.

Or if I still want the job, once it´s for "brainless" guys.
So far I actually like to use my brain.

The most I´m "afraid" of is loosing my freedom, though.
I do know it is absolutely not usual to start work in Wolfsburg at 05:45 and quit the job at 01:45.

My customer does the typical 9-5 job and always, everybody, accepted my quirky work-hours in their world.

I have near to no traffic, best parking and I´m home early - life sure is not about work like this!
Bro opens his business after his lunch break 15 minutes after I´m home!

I may not make big money, but that´s not that important.
My freedom, that´s a treasure I don´t wanna give away...

But for now I should do some holidaying, right?
Step I is done, apartment is clean, you can eat from the floor :-)

Meet The Friendly Dude

We get our gas, electricity and all from BS|Energy ever since, we try to buy local whenever we can, yet they really did a huge efford to convince people they´re worth it no?

We got so much stuff for free!!!
So much very cute stuff, and handy one, also!

Isn´t this made with love?

Sh## and love goes together not only for real parents, right?

I admit...

We got it twice!

... because it´s fun... or worth, rather! for us, too.

We got band-aid ("shit happens"), cute cleaning cloth, bag, a lille "plumber's helper" as pencil, riddles, books, brochures, ball pen and sherbet, crazy, no???

All for free and all so darn cute!
Klärens, you are a true cutie-pie!
Thanks, BS|Energy, we certainly stay with you! Great and interesting fun!
Really the best open-to-public-thingy I ever visited, is it?

I´m done now, really!

Klärens, btw from klären, "clarify a liquid".

We Didn´t Get Lost

"Two thirds of the waste water which has been purified in the waste water treatment plant Steinhof are used by the Abwasserverband Braunschweig to irrigate 2,700 hectares of agriculturally-used land within the association’s area.", you learn here and hence there was a bigger corn labyrinth on Sunday to visit as well :-)

Kinda impressive what the guys at the wastewater treatment plant did on their open day for their visitors, no?

Finally we said good bye...

Well...

And...

This was some "adventure", no?

So sad it ended rather... disapponting after all, but not due to them!

Many, many peeps have been interested to see how the plant works and the free shuttle back got fuller and fuller.

Whilst waiting for the bus a "lady" who looked like, oh, how to put it.
Like those kids of her are from different fathers and none of them stayed with her - I do not know!
But it´s likely.
Having two kids, no dad and the state gives you enough to make a living from.
She was nagging, hey, wait till they all come! They´ll use their ellbows to get their fat butts seated on the bus!

She and the kids were one of the first doing exactly this.

Unlike for example Perth there are no signs asking kids to stand up for elderlies.

So, some 60+-guys stood while her kids comfortably sat and played games.

One of them quietly saying, seesh, what´s with upbringing these days that the kids don´t offer their seats?.

Mind you, no. I didn´t get up.
If she´d asked me I would´ve (she said she was thinking about coming by push-bike anyways, so she was fit).

Sad, no, how that mother brings up her "breed"...

Alas!
You´re still not out (of cuteness) unlike you want to :-)

What´s Your Job?

I really wonder how this very young man explains/explained to his girlfriend (to be) what he´s doin` for a living? (Yes, I´m still at the wastewater treatment plant!)

OK, reckon it´s all very technical these days and I bet his clothes don´t smell like sh## when he comes home, either.
Still I wonder - and wasn´t brave enough to ask - why he chose to work here.

OK, they sure have very cool automobiles and trucks and tecchie-stuff!

Detail on the truck:

Brrrr.... MINUS 25C.
Please, no...

And the plant really is impressively big:

We also were able to see the many labs they work with:

You kinda get used to it (a wee bit) but even here you could smell where you actually are.

Depends on where the wind comes from.

It was all very, very interesting and please forgive me, but another - this time very cute - post is still due!

Or even two.
It´s (not all) about sh## ;-)

Hold On (Your Breath)

As said, it was another pic galore we took in the wastewater treatment plant!
And this time it was serious!

Whilst where we had the sausage you could breathe through your nose here I started gagging and decided to very carefully breath through my mouth!

This brave man.

Do not gag.

One guy asked how far the diver can see, some 5 cm?
No.
All he can do is feel. Feel.
UAAHHHHHHHH!!!

He took a very long shower coming back up, as you can see!

We were told, also, this is just show, phew!

These days they have more than one tank and can pump it over, empty the one where the problem is, no diver needed anymore.

The tougher the mate is, no?!

That´s Where (Part Of It) Went

Sunday just before lunch time we hopped onto the free shuttle-bus, some of the "wedding-money" friends and colleagues presented us with, in the purse.
Yes, I know. That was late 2013, we still have some!
And yes, Ingo said he nearly shouted a Perthie-"thank you!" getting off cause here we never take the bus, LOL...
It´s not done here.

You shake your head upon the money?
You´ll shake even more if I tell you the huge shuttle-bus was so full to the brim peeps had to stand even.

Peeps who care about shit! Literally.

We bought....

Sausage, right?
And we had it at the wastewater treatment plant, "holy shit", no? :-)

We visited ...

The Abwasserverband Braunschweig (English link), they were open to public and I can tell you right away: The PTB stinks against what they offered!

There was so much info, so well done, we took so many pics and yes, partially I could only breathe through my mouth, huuuu.
Ingo, former firefighter, certainly knew it all and was cool, insisting the smell ain´t that bad - to me, and to many others at times, it was!

Despite there is a lot of technique under the earth...

We really do have a problem, never thought we do!

Due to school kids throwing away their bread Mommy made for lunch, taking a Doener instead. Realising it´s huge, throwing away what they don´t eat and no, not into public rubbish-bins, we got explained.
River Oker adds up, also.

Still I had to grin seeing this:

They had a real rat on exhibition also, Ingo even touched it, brrrr.
Never thought they´re that huge, gahhh...

We were there for hours, so sad family couldn´t join, the big Niece would´ve had so much fun jumping on those huge trampolines...

More to come, no more rats, I promise...
