Ice, Ice, Baby

Yes, I went to Elizabeth Quay on that Friday, March 1st...
And bumped into Gusto Gelato aka...

... "handcrafted happiness".
(From time to time my sweet tooth wakes up these days)

"The best I have eaten outside Italy" Ice-cream I can have every day here in Braunschweig at Eiscafé Da Pino, where they now call me "signora", huhhhh, age shows! LOL...

BUT! They sure have interesting flavors at Gusto, too (not the special, though):

I couldn´d decide!!!
I was thinking about having Cheesecake! Or... yum... Apple Pie?
Here I could take both.

There?!!!

I saw what the dude in front of me got and knew I had to decide for just one - why such huge portions????

Do you like ice cream?
If so, what´s your favorite?

Freedom?

Every now and then when I leave the house direction our darn grocery-store nearby (the other day I had to wait 11 minutes at the cash-out, in the heat, the guys in front of me even had ice-cream, and, no, we have no air-con in there)... well sometimes this poor doggy sits at the window and looks so sad - or mad - at me for being kept alone inside.

I once read a "scientific" book, the title was something like "If a Lion could think" and that "scientist" claimed animals cannot think.
This dog sure thinks it´s unfair to be kept like that, ravens, monkeys... many use tools, solve problems, dolphins call each other by their individual names.
Mind you, I read that book whilst living here in this condo already, so, not that long ago!!
Ever seen a cat wanting to swish something off the table and letting go when you give them "the look"? Reckon they rethink due to lost catnip! ;-)
Here is a good read on it, too.

Any thoughts from your side?

At least the dog´s room is in shadow mostly as... weeee... it´s hot here (I love it)!

Summer, flowers and some like to break free (earworm, huh?).

Ohhh, so nice, right?

Hope you are and feel free, I do, though authorities/agencies try to boss me around.

Lion of the day:

See the crown? Haha, could be my gate hence (with my name being translated Emperor/Empereur).

Do you enjoy your weather, too, be it sun or rain or wind or...?

A Last Time CBD

The first of March.
Ingo needed a rest as on Monday, just four days later, getting up at 04:40 am, too!, he had to get to work in Germany, so I went to the city by myself.

By myself, not alone.
Sometimes I love just strolling around the way I and only I want (I also love your company!!!).

It was so bitter-sweet.
Who knows if I can make it back in two years with a new job around?

I soaked it all up, walked slowly, like a typical tourist.

Guess some have an idea where I headed to...

A place I slowly make my peace with...

I had to grin at this one.
I was still living in Bültenweg, Ingo was there for the weekend and I had my first and last Guinness.
BOY, I got so darn tired, I hardly made it home!
Tired, not drunk, just unbelieveably tired, LOL.
(Too high the level of wort)

I silently ahhh-ed and oooh-ed all the way.
Don´t get me wrong, I absolutely love Braunschweig, but... I´m not good in saying good-bye... even if it´s in this case "just" a town...

The Bell Tower, or "Swan Bells" (for tourists???), to me kinda is a bit special.

It stood by itself, once, proudly (can a building be proud?).
But here you see what´s coming:

(Pic taken from our friend´s boat Rocksea, which they sadly sold as they moved to the South of Perth).

More good-byes to come...

Cutie-Pies

How the mountain came to the prophet...
These are Tim and Tom, two brothers from Neuss, Germany, and they make Sushi and Co.

Very, very, very sadly I don´t like Sushi, I know it´s soooo healthy!

As to party, which is not my thing, either...

This is my thing: Green, green green :-)

We´re in the 30´s, temp-wise, yay!!!!
Ex-Teamleader´s excuse to stop his dance-lessons aka "Tanzbein", dancing leg! ;-)

Oh, let´s hope we get another wonderful summer, just without medication this time!

The title? I think it´s both, cute and very hard to work together as siblings - I couldn´t do it, we´re too different, Bro and I.
Though, when renovating we´re a great team! And a pizza always helps, too :-)
(Well, I´m talking of days gone by, though....)

A pie? Oh, do I miss a pie! A hearty pie! A Jester´s!!!
Also... scroll down to the juices - cute names!!! Can´t wait to come back!

Lion of the day:

My Computer-table is... over 18 years old and has some issues.
This Henry does a good job covering it :-)

Learn To Swim

Pic taken on February 28th, Grace and P stopped to show me this on the way home from sculpture by the sea.

It made me think.
Can you swim?
When or where did you learn it, if you did?

I was a pre-schooler when I learned it, got my Seepferdchen - it was not compulsory, but at school we had swim lessons later.

Ingo sure was an advanced swimmer as pre-schooler, no surprise with a Dad who won all those Police-swim-competitions!

I once jumped off a fiver, took seemingly forever, the "flight" down, never again!

Here it´s - with summer being finally here - in the news over and over:
Kids, not only German ones, also refugees, kids as adults, not being able to swim.
They drown, they die.
How can this be?!

I love to swim in the ocean, but with age it´s always way too cold.
"Some" Perthies might remember how long it took me to get in the pool even!

When I was young (this kinda hurts to type, LOL) I once visited a pool with artificial waves and got smacked to the pool ground - never again!
So, Perth, next time I guess I have to try your ocean for real again!

My big Niece learned to swim before attending school, too and also Ingo´s Nieces and Nephews swim safely.

It must be awful and frightening if you or your kids can not swim, no?

How about you?
Opinions on this?

Just A Lille Fun

Yes, Ingo has a new job. He now works at The House of Science as a dino-dentist :-)

He´s had the best teacher, too, our dentist :-)
Where a date is due for him, too, so we were looking for some Mon Chérie for her as she loves them.
Sadly you cannot buy them in summer, but maybe better so as when I brought her some she ate them all at once and treated patiens with booze-breath!! LOL!

Summer, finally, time to have some fun and behave a tad childish, no?

Lion of the day:

I was able to resist and just take a pic and not buy these, not so childish after all, right? ;-)

Go For It!

Here you see a mural presenting the West Coast Eagles from Perth.
Taken again in Leederville.

Hmmm.... I´ve never seen a game.
I do not understand Aussie Football. It´s like American Football mixed with German soccer to me.... (sorry!!!).

I´m a fan of American Football, "our team" aka now sadly called New Yorker Lions, to me still Braunschweig Lions, eleven times German Bowl Defender and six times they won the European Bowl, too.
They are great with kids, too!
But reckon this goes as well for the Eagles :-)

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.

Bier Von Hand Gebraut

Well, who knew about all the environment stuff and we get "milk" from far North (but I sure love the lighthouse!!).
Moin is not "Morgen" / "morning" but just means "hello" - I once got a call from Emden and answered... around two in the arvo with "good morning", ahhhh... ;-)
We go local, though, very local!

It´s just around the corner and only on Thursdays...
Have you heard of stupid Fridays For Future where school-kids skip lessons to protest over weeks and weeks, yet fail to work out what to do?! - We go for Thursdays once in a while now! We HELP!

We go for CRABBS, four young blokes who brew fantastic beer in Braunschweig.

CraftBeerBraunSchweig :-)

Ingo jokingly asked for One-Fifty-Lashes, and by golly he (did not get them) ... these guys knew it´s a beer brewed in Perth (and Sydney)!!!

This is actually a pic for FIL - he was a police-officer in Braunschweig when this beer-label was here for quality - and with these guys it´s back!!
Ingo called his Dad, too, he knew the label and was really happy about the chat :-)
Wee, I lost my Dad 2002...

Four young guys, opening up their business once a week here:

One of them tomorrow is off to Sydney to learn how to make it even better.
Maybe we can get One-Fifty-Lashes here soon, to you it might be but a name to me... ahhhhhh... owwww... ;-)

Ingo sure got a (men´s) t-tshirt, too :-)

Lion of the day:

Local, also, but weeeee... NO.

"Bier Von Hand Gebraut" is the CRABBS´s guys label, btw... "made from scratch/by hand"
And yes. "The" jeans skirt I´m wearing, AGAIN!!! :-)
And also yes, 04 :44 a.m. on a Sunday, gahhhh....

That´s All... Brother

The weather is "bombing" aka HOT, oh, I love it!!!
(pic taken 2006 at the Aviation Heritage Museum in Bull Creek)

Ingo doesn´t like this weather so much, he has to work in the heat.
So he´d left earlier and´d heard on the radio there is a Raisin Bomber (or "Candy Bomber") visiting Airport Braunschweig on the occasion of it being 70 years the Western Allies helped big with mastering the Berlin Blockade.

("The name came from the fact that some pilots started voluntarily to throw sweets and candy (and, presumably, also raisins) on little tinkered parachutes out of the window to children lined up on the edges of the West Berlin airfields watching the planes." (Wiki))

See here: The Bomber arrived at lunch-time and ... info!!! Nada online, so, me, learning to call people I don´t know braved up and called the airport - it´ll be there at least another hour, so we jumped in the car and went!

I certainly expected such a bomber as shown above when we went to the Museum in Perth / Bull Creek and I was a tad disappointed to "only" find the W 292847!

Yes, I do understand Airport Berlin Tempelhof is small, yet... I was a tad disappointed!

Not that our airport is large...

Well, it must´ve been very hard times back then and I am glad and thankful I wasn´t in there and that there was this huge help!!

As you probably know from The Simpsons... pilots do drink beer - have you seen the blue/yellow Wolters-brolly? ;-)

Lion of the day:

Wee, that´s rather wine is it?!

"That´s all... Brother" was the name of this aircraft. It guided over 800 other aircrafts on D-Day.

From fighting "Germans" to helping them... people are people, right?
Sorry if I gave you a terrible ear-worm!, I got it, also!...
