Through Jeanie´s post I learned the sunflower is the national flower of the Ukraine.
I never expected this. I do know these cold countries can get pretty hot, but not that they are "one of the world's largest producers and exporters of sunflower seeds and sunflower oils." - read more at Jeanie´s.
2006 was a great summer and I grew some of these beauties on my tiny balcony.
They were my Dad´s favorite flowers, too.
His coffin 2002 was covered in mini-sunflowers.
Why I still remember this? Every second weekend I drove to Ingo´s place - we were still in a weekend-relationship, so I left Braunschweig Friday morning and came back late on Mondays.
To keep the sunflowers alive I took bottles filled with water and put them upside down into their earth - worked well, as you can see.

And also UK helped.
Sad this is needed.
And Put#n reacts as feared: He threatens with nuclear weapons. Cold war is back, it is very frightening.
Pictures of Russians - (I´m watching the news) - the German speaker emphases that Russians are friendly people - in queues at the tellers trying to get their money.
Sanctions threaten the country, the people are "not allowed" to protest, they don´t want war!
It´s but this one man (mainly) - I hope history doesn´t repeat itself. We would all have to suffer.
Around 7 million Ukrainian people, mostly women and kids flee - most men stay, they are to defend their country, families divided and it´s cold! Horrible pictures.
I would never ever have thought we will have a war in/near Europe.
Shine bright, Ukraine... by coincidence today´s mural is... a sunflower.
