Visitors From Far Away

The other day I could´ve sworn I´d seen a seagull.
Either ocean is about 2-300 km away.

But, see?
Those are seagulls!
I really do wonder what they do here? A "holiday"???
Do birds go on vacation?!
I mean, these days we have it all:

There isn´t much water in river Oker at the moment, hence it looks a wee bit like a beach, no?

More seagulls on the other side even!

When we came to KIK we were surprised to find this:

And I have to admit, I fell for this:

Do you have an explanation for the seagulls being here?
And why so many, too?
Is it the cold weather?

Maybe they stopped en route to somewhere warmer? Is this the first time you noticed then in the area?

Ingo says maybe he´s seen one or two before, but not in these masses. Where warmer do they want to go I wonder? Plus---- spring should be just around the corner...

Hi Iris!
I live in front of a river and we have lots of seaguls here!
I love maritime themed things. They remind me of the beach!
Have a great week!
:)

Hi Paula,
do you also have an ocean nearby? Because I don´t, sadly! And wouldn´t seagulls want seafish?
A great week to you, too! :-)

The ocean isn't far away, but I think they like their fish either from the river or the sea.
:)

It´s still kinda weird as it´s at least 200 km to the ocean, but, well, maybe a vacation after all :-)

Birds don't often get lost Iris, they have incroyable radar.. maybe they heard how fabulous your city is and wanted to see for themselves 😀
