Too Much Room For Interpretation

On my home from work yesterday - a near 10-hours-workday, btw, means:
I got loads of work and can build up hours for free days, yay!

Well, on my way home I found this mural.
Just it´s no real mural (or is it) - it´s a container, the Tetzel-Kiste.

2017 is dedicated to the religious reformation 1517.
Now, being into science not religion this leaves some huge room for interpretation. Wiki says about Johann Tetzel: "Tetzel was known for granting indulgences in exchange for money" - hence this mural celebrates cheating?

Is this the way the church represents itself (still)?

Or is this the way to reach the young generation?

I´m really confused but take the mural as a fun way to represent Alte Waage.
Religion... always confusing to me.

What I did not see in the pitch-dark morning...

Wee, that really was some storm for this young autumn!

Milestones - Getting Old(er)

I thought my eyes´d gotten way worse, but Bro could state: partly 160% - can you believe that?!
(haha, I saw it)

I´m just getting older and can´t keep it up for as long as I used to.
Breaks, breaks, breaks - away from the monitor!

That´s not a milestone, though.
Wee One yesterday turned three and left pre-kindy!
She was kinda sad, poor girl.
And her Mummy, oh, my!

Big Niece looked back and said at times she´d like to return to kindy.
At least now, in her school holidays.

Since it was like really stormy I took off rather early, ended up in traffic jam and, my...

Tiredness hit me deeply later - I´m not used to drive a car under stress anymore, for over an hour, too.

Just to make you shake your head as in... like, yah, typical:
On the way to family I was so darn early I put myself behind a truck to only go at 90km/h AND went grocery shopping AND was 10 minutes early still.

Alas, "thanks", Dad, for those genes... not.

For Wee One´s very cool hair-cut friends can visit here :-)

No milestones on my side, just the getting older-part, LOL.

Cry For Help Or Trust?

Well, funny to find an empty chair with the expensive smoke-kit, no?

I really wonder... is that person so trusting no one will take advantage of it or does he secretly hope someone takes it away to make him stop?

Back then I moved into a flatsharing-place where smoking was forbitten, so I had to get out, hoping laziness and bad weather would stop me.
That´s how I met the neighbour who lived by himself and didn´t allow smoking inside, either.
Didn´t work for neither of us, btw.

But thanks to a colleague and Allen Carr´s book this "offer" was totally unattractive to me :-)
Plus... I would never steal anyways.

Off to Bro´s place now. Wee One turns 3 today and I still have the big Niece´s birthday-pressie as well.
And I think I need new glasses, Bro´ll take care of that - if I may pay!

All New And Shining

Can you believe it´s a tad over three years that we gave our bubbly dream away?
Well, actually she wasn´t bubbly, she rather roared, but doesn´t our table look fun with the bubbles?

We sure did the very right thing as I just the other day got a brand new update.

From this:

She made it to this exclusive beauty - see all the differences:

It´s so great to see she is been taken care of that well and that R does not forget us!
And that he keeps his promise, that in general Maggie will stay our Moped!

I know... you probably think, oh, the heck, get over with it.
But I just had to keep the pretty pic to remember :-)
Oh so often a Harley Davidson stops at the red light underneath my workplace window and I listen "in awe" and all the beautiful memories of driving with an open helmet through hot summer days in the countryside are back.
It was bliss.

The smell of fresh hay and sometimes the stench of fertilizer as well!

We sure had great times with her.

I´m GOO(d)

Haha, google is so funny, right?
It´s German Unity Day - on a Tuesday, too!

And google "divides" us - now, is that irony?

The Beetle´s windscreen says "GOO", the Trabbi´s "GLE".

We (Wessis) are "GOO".

Hm.

I´m "GOO(d)" for sure, good for the company.
This whole extra-long weekend I coughed myself through the mornings, with mornings meaning 04:00 am plus, telling myself, "tomorrow will be better" - never happened.

Tomorrow it won´t matter much anymore, 05:10 I´m up anyways.

I know. There are things way worse than a stupid cough, but, really, I´m so tired, and a bit frustrated, too.

What is the use of such a dry cough anyways?
With a "real" cough you get rid of icky stuff, but this?!

At least Ingo can sleep in.

If my "GLE"-guys are doing better?
It´s really crazy.
So many years ago the wall went down.
And still we think in East and West.
My colleague, sitting opposite me always uses phrases I have to ask back. He "makes" a lot and telling the time mostly leaves me puzzled like "when, exactly???" and him saying, "oh, you Wessies never get it!".

Well, let´s hope I don´t cough him down tomorrow.

Again... what is a dry cough good for?!
It´s POINTLESS.

Oh, and, yes: That´s a Koala on top of my monitor :-)

Senseless Fun, But Fun At Least

Last Wednesday I went to our butcher.
I wanted 1 kg beef shin, bone in, sinew removed, for Saturday.

I even showed her what I wanted:

I was the only customer at the time and could hear she ordered correctly over the phone to the main store.
So, Saturday we went, and lucky thing Ingo was with me, because, when I said that I ordered they made a very serious face and said, "something went wrong...".

- The bone was in - check.
- The sinew not removed - not good.
- It was not 1 kg, but... 3! They were not able to cut it down, "the men made a mistake".

Ingo decided to take it as they gave it away for a (at that time seemingly) very low price (€18).

2 km later I handled the meat over to Ingo and he was kinda surprised how heavy it is after all ;-)

Ingo took sliced onions, fresh chillies, fresh coriander, cumin, smoked paprika, cinnamon, fresh bay leaves, 800 g tinned tomatoes... the smell was heavenly!
And with the meat that was nearly 4 kg!
Wack that in the oven - not an easy task!

(Yes, that´s the IKEA mammoth kid´s chair I use in the mornings beside the door to get my sneakers on :-)...)

Exciting, right?
After about two hours Ingo turned the huge thing around and you can see the massive bone:

The smell was awesome, the first taste, too!
Still more than two and a half hours to go!

Five hours all in all, 20 minutes before it´s done Ingo added the beans and you could see that the meat yummily fell apart!

We´re speaking of nearly 5 kg now!
And since we have a clean microwave at work there will be loads of yummy and healthy meals for me (you can add "or so I thought").

Finally!
After Ingo got rid of most of the fatty/sinewy stuff...

It does, don´t you agree?

But when even Ingo refuses to eat the slimey stuff...
Never take the shin (or we got a real bad one), it all ended up in the bin - from the book "Save with Jamie"... not all attemps on saving are a success. Next time we take another piece of a cow for sure!

Ingo said, let´s make up for this with an exclusive local beer...

Have a guess?

Right. The "best before"-date certainly was long gone!
(The taste was still good)

Some days... at least there was a lot of fun, heavenly smell and excitement.

And Sunday we had...

AHOI...

Now THIS was yum:

The butcher should´ve told us it´s not high quality, right?

A Lille Gem

As you maybe´ve followed, Ingo declutters his stuff finally.

And he found that silver lighter with his name engraved.

When Ingo finished studying - his work was a program that grated tin cans - I got an empty, plain tin can, put something inside and asked my Mum to do some nice engraving on a plate to put on the tin can.
And she sneaked in that silver lighter.

We´d all forgotten about the lighter.

Reckon Mum was really fond of Ingo and since for some passwords Ingo uses parts of her name I reckon it was both ways.

To Mum...

... and Ingo!

Irony, huh.
Hubby and MIL like each other and she has to go so early.
Some hate their MILs and they live like forever...
