A different one as... it was a different week.
You drive 3+ hours (well, Ingo did and he did a great job).
Next morning you go for Brekkie and get... HEIMBS coffee!!! We could´ve stayed home ;-) This coffee was made some 15 minutes on foot from where I write to you right now (Braunschweig, our home).
There was a pig for tips in the breakfast-room.
Wilhelmshaven has many a ship captain as guest, there were three. I do believe they "get" more money than I do.
I tipped the pig, none of them did. Sad, huh?
The journal. Without sketches. It was a crazy week.
Monday: Project heads to it´s end earlier than planned. I am... down, to put it mildly.
fK was there for me.
Tuesday: fK seems worried. She really is there for me.
Another chaotic document. - mK is at Innotrans in Berlin and said, let´s talk early tomorrow. Me: "Am there 06:00 a.m."
Him: "Not THAT early!!!"
LOL.
My T is off to Mallorca tomorrow. Oh, lucky him.
Wednesday: Work. Packing waaaay too many clothes.
And then the week flew by.
Thursday: Off to the ocean. So let´s call this:
That truck stood there all weekend so I could take the pic only from the "wrong" direction and so much went wrong!
The hotel room - after we found it... (!) - really, that place was a castle or such. So many doors, so many steps up and down and up again.
Let me show you soon the video Ingo took...
My orientation over the long weekend (we left Thursday around 2 and came back Monday around 3, ...p.m. of course). When I saw this I knew I will find our room:
The room. I spare you a pic.
Since forever, since the first man in my life... when lying on my back he was to my left.
This bed had "my side" to the wall. Directly.
How to go pee at night????
So, Ingo squeezed himself into "my" place and I tried to sleep on his side.
I tried. Really. But... the bed was too soft! And my hand landed in the air.
Wrong side, and hurting backs, oh, my.
Lesson learned: I think next time - this is NOT Ingo´s fault, don´t get me wrong!!! - next time I think I´ll "order" a "normal" bed!
Weather. The ocean late September. COLD. WINDY!!!!!! No. STORMY!
My glasses stayed on.
When people from the ocean say it is windy....
I secured the glasses with my left hand and grabbed the rail on the boat with the other - and hurt my head. Bingo.
I am afraid of heights. This was hiiiiigh up and stormy. Also war is not what I want...
Other... We had:
Extra-early, as Ingo needs to eat at his times. They got him wrong, I ran and said, "noooo, just ONE meal, we share!"
So cute. On two plates. And the way I by accident cooked it for my family.
Mom (I was maybe 12): "Take care it does not burn. And remember the beetroot."
As I was not allowed in the kitchen otherwise - but Granma was on holiday - I could not cook.
Cut the beetroot and put it in the pot.
Dad: "This looks like PUKE!!"
I cooked the real way ;-) It was yummy, just too much (and - as Ingo kept repeating: "Too cold!").
I can safely say: We are old. We share a meal and are so full we can hardly walk.
But we manage a beer each.
If you - as many - have something sweet afterwards and need to cuddle, there are cushions.
Side story: I was still working for cgs, as external for Volkswagen. 03-something p.m., the customer from Emden called me. First time - usually just Wolfsburg.
Lady: "Moin!" - me, as reflex: "Guten Morgen! / Good morning!".
My colleague: "????!!!"
Lady from Emden: "???!!!"
Moin means but "Hello" - how was I supposed to know?
Now everybody says "Moin!" everywhere in Germany. Just repeat. And smile.
One day icy cold and stormy, next so hot we "stripped".
I think I need a holiday from this holiday.
I slept so well on the "correct" side in a hard bed.
Henry ๐ฆ sure stayed in Braunschweig. He did sail all the way to Africa, but Wilhelmshaven end of September... ... just as coffee-bringer as you saw in pic#1.
Found this on FB:
"If you see something like this, don't be afraid, don't call the fire department or the civil service, don't try to drive them away or even kill them! It's just bees traveling, they keep moving and will only stop for 24 hours. Don't disturb them and keep your distance, they won't do you anything. If you want to help them, place a flat plate or container with a thin layer of sugar water. You'll see them strengthen, refuel, and continue their journey.
We must protect all traveling swarms of bees, they are our survival guarantee. If they die, we die later. Without bees, no humans will exist on earth."
We saw/met lots of wasps. I didn´t panic and nothing happened. But bees? Where are the bees?
Happy T-Day.
Addendum. We found in the city but one restaurant and that was overly full.
Since COVID nearly everybody´d closed down. It was so sad.
Last time we´ve visited this back then vibrant place was 15 years ago.
Try not to cry.
I thought Braunschweig lost (too) many places, restaurants, shops etc. But compared to us this was.... "heartbreaking".
