Look Up!

I always find it funny how peeps stop their rushing and follow my camera when it points up, yet reckon I'm the same - who wants to miss something nice he never noticed on his everyday-route, no?

I took a different route yesterday to buy a window-cleaner that sucks the water from the glass.
When it was finally ready to go, battery-wise, it was too dark already.

And here you have it: Neither of us cleaned the windows since we moved in.
Which was end 2010. But, hey. We don't smoke, hence... Let's see how much "dirt" I get off with this new toy.

On the way I also saw this and thought... weird...

The cam stressed the reflection, but look behind that - there's an ordinary cuppa for the driver sitting there, no lid, nothing.
Does the coffee/tea really neatly stays inside this, I cannot imagine...

Last not least...

I didn't even mind having a closer look. Money makes you happy? It can give you freedom, yes, and with that happiness, but a phrase like that ... money down the drain, haha.
(Construction site... sewer-system, ever-lasting, too...)

15 windows and a balcony door. In Perth I saw a cleaning system (Italian made) with a long arm. I should've tried to get it here.
Wish me luck that cheapy works!

Like Ice In The Sunshine

It was up to 11C yesterday, the sun was shining, I had work to do and we had super-yummy lunch together, Iris K and I and no, I'm not schizo, her surname starts with a K, too, and for some colleagues this is a "running gag".
Ice-cream in 11C, you wonder? Felt warm enough after all the cold obviously :-)

Teamleader came in and seemed quite normal, no idea if this is good or bad, though.

This is my current yay-workplace's morning-view btw, the sun came up later.

Just.Plain.Awesome.
You can nearly see our home from there! The big fella is St. Andreas.

After work I went to city-Görge and got some endive/chicory - beautiful with tuna and peanut oil, yum, can't wait for brekkie!

On the way home I passed this cutie:

Will ask if it's good for lunch, but come next week Iris K likely really is in the new place and I will cut down those rather expensive lunches.

I don't know why, it's stupid, but I fail to refer to her as only "Iris", that is weird! It feels like talking to myself, kinda...

By accident I run into A from Schadt's later and we chatted a lille after our visit to ALDI, good times.

Ahhh, I really hope spring doesn't only pay a visit here.
Greetings from Levono still, filmed the PC for our admin, let's see if that helps.... keep your fingers crossed, please, he said maybe it's a hardware-problem.

Beautiful Cold

Pic taken yesterday morno on the way to work - kinda beautiful, no?

Also cause... tadaaa, weather is warmin' up!
7C today, 9 tomorrow!

The days are getting longer, too, the good half of the year is on the way!

I'm used to Lenovo again and yes, that means PC is still caught in start-up.
Our admin said it's "normal" that the start-up gets stuck once in a while and that it can take up to an hour. Then restart and all is good.

Ummm, really? Is that normal for Windows7?!
After some two years only, too?

It's crazy.
I work in IT yet on the job I'm not allowed to do anything administrative, goes for all those 16 years, hence... I have no clue at my PC at home :-(
Maybe I can resolve the problem this arvo.

So far I'm just happy with Lenovo... and the weather!

One Has To Go.... Give Me a Z!

Since we"re back from Perth my PC had an issue starting. Once up everything was smooth and fine.
Yesterday it kinda died.

I tried the obvious, which didn'd work, wrote all steps down and will ask for advice at the company.

Shoot, huh?

So, here I sit, giggling away on the search for a question mark, getting z's for y's...

Cause... everything bad mostly has a good, too, no?

The poor Lenovo I got from JB Hi-Fi had been sitting in the corner for good all the time - now it's back!
And I am sitting with an Aussie-(American) keyboard - food for my brain and you just can't imagine how often I struck the z when wanting a y :-)

Let's hope I get my PC back, soon - if you once worked with two monitors... just one is a pain.

Title, btw... teamleader... no change. Girlfriend still hanging on for "dear" life.
I try to be there via e-mail. Better than nothing at all, huh.
Reckon Wed I'll work longer to catch up when he attends teamleader's meet-up. Wanna give him back his daughter's phone personally.
And say hi in person, too.

Also... just heard in former GDR tattoos were forbitten. Gotta ask him if this was reallz true!

Addendum... Hahaha... Really, certainly!!!

Reflection & Contrast

The reflection was a bonus, the contrast made me take this pic, or rather in plural, contrasts.

It´s quite cold with around and below zero C, who would really sit down on that bench and enjoy the neatly decorated table?
The bench doesn´t look like it sits outside no matter what weather, too clean, too "unweatherly".

And then there are the stairs and the wall.
All used up and dirty.

I don´t think someone´d call the police if you simply took a brush and refreshed the stuff and maybe found another solution for the stairs, too?

I Miss That

We went to ALDI via Packstation yesterday and took the route back via axe-murderer-way.

You know, there is another thing I miss about Perth.
I´ve never been confronted with sights like these there:

I spare you pics of all the dog-poo cause that would make me gag, too.
But unlike in Perth here you have to watch your step, everywhere :-(

I leave you with a nice pic:

That is part of the town I love. And in the future I´ll avoid the route via that quiet shortcut and walk by the loud traffic.

Can someone explain why people do that?
I delivered ads as kid. Not fun, esp in this cold weather, but ... aw, well. But the garbage?
What... why?

I Wish I Were Sixty-Five

I´m reading the (true) story “Tuesdays with Morrie” atm (there is a film even, Wiki says - have you seen it, is it good?). It´s about the relationship between a former professor and his student.

16 years ago they were very close when student Mitch graduated, but Mitch got absorbed in life and forgot about Morrie.
Until he saw him on TV. Sick. ALS got him.
He flew over, by accident it was a Tuesday. Back then Tuesdays were the days they spent together, so they became the Tuesday-people again and Mitch recorded the last months of Morrie´s life.

One Tuesday they spoke about the “Fear of aging”.

‘Weren´t you ever afraid to grow old, I asked?
“Mitch, I embrace aging.”
Embrace it?
“It´s very simple. As you grow, you learn more. If you stayed at twenty-two, you´d always be as ignorant as you were at twenty-two. Aging is not just decay, you know. It´s more than the negative that you have to die, it´s also the positive that you understand you´re going to die, and that you live a better life because of it.”

Yes, I said, but if aging was so valuable, why do people always say, “Oh, if I were young again.” You never hear people say, “I wish I were sixty-five.”
He smiled. “You know what that reflects? Unsatisfied lives. Unfulfilled lives. Lives that haven´t found meaning. Because if you´ve found meaning in your life, you don´t want to go back. You want to go forward. You want to see more, do more. You can´t wait until sixty-five.’

He also asks if he doesn´t envy the young for mobility, health… he admits yes, that´s envy, separate from it now. Detach. You have had those times, you´re in the time you are now. You´ll always envy the youth.

‘“Age is not a competitive issue.”
“The truth is, part of me is every age. I´m a three-year-old, I´m a thirty-seven-year-old, I´m a fifty-year old. I´ve been through all of them, and I know what it´s like. I delight in being a child when it´s appropriate to be a child. I delight in being a wise old man when it´s appropriate to be a wise old man.
Think of all I can be! I am every age, up to my own. Do you understand?”’

And on one Tuesday the lesson was on “How life goes on”.
‘“And love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.”’

Wise man Morrie was, huh?

Often I thought, nah, if I had the chance, I wouldn´t want to go back. I don´t wanna be young again like in my twenties. All the stuff I embraced, all the travels, all the encounters, friendships would be lost!

I hope for many years to come, but really, if this would be the day to say good-bye I could at least say I had a full life.
I just hope that when I have to go it will be quick cause I would never be as strong as Morrie was.
