Thank You

Mural taken at BraWoPark, Braunschweig.

Weee, time flies, Sami is back!

I admit I am one week behind, but getting no sleep I am up 04.-something and joining Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals!!!

It was a rather weird year (again), but I wanna say thank you to all those who stopped by here, left a comment and made me smile with their posts so often, too.

(OK, this was a give-away Ingo got in a parcel.
He ordered super-magnets for work. Yes, from his private money as it would´ve taken way more efford to get the money back or the items via that company, just don´t ask...

And he gave it to me!).

To a new, mostly fun and happy year of living and blogging, right?

Lion of the day?
He is in the first pic, again.

I´d like to add a little story to that ring in the first pic, too.

We wear them on the left hand. No, we´re not engaged, we´re married. But this happened in Perth (holiday was long booked before we decided to marry), so the left hand it is.
We bought the rings there, too.
I expected it is just like here in Germany, wedding rings look the same.
Haaaa, no. The woman gets a huge one, with a fancy stone, whatever, the man a plain one, I was told. You do not find those "wedding-ring-stands"!
NO!
We found - two days before getting married (yes, we were late) two matching "men"-rings, I took the smallest, but it was still too big.

At home my Brother made the wedding-engravings and had to hang on with his full body weight to make mine smaller.

It´s titanium, produced in WA, Western Australia.
So: To let´s being tough in hard situations, right?
And gentle blog-wise....

Cute mural Iris, thanks for participating.
My gold wedding ring is quite plain and narrow.
A wonderful 2020 to you and Ingo.

Sami, thank you! Great you are back, too.
I saw no wedded woman with a fancy rin, either, but maybe you remember those wedding-ring-stands over here?

Either way: Soon a happy 2020 to you and your family (so glad you are all home now).

That's a rather unique mural, Iris. Of course, I love the heart and the smile, too.

Loved the story of your wedding ring. I also loved how you used the strength of the titanium as a lesson in strength in difficult situations. Nicely done, dear.

I don't know of any wedding rings with a fancy stone, those are usually the engagement rings and after the wedding, a few years after, comes a third ring, the eternity ring which usually has many small stones in it. I don't know what a wedding ring stand is.

Elizabeth, thank you :-)
Languages are so different, or are the they, dear :-)
I had a male colleague who called me "Mein Kleines" (my..? "little one?,", ina loving way - Ingo knew that) and a doctor, she called me "Süße", Sweetie :-)
A female friend said, look for another doctor, but, wee, the doc meant well, didn´t she.

Plus... (no earworm intended) "We are strong"...

Ella, that is a very good sight on 2020! No kidding, we have a real, fresh pineapple right here, I take that as a sign!
A very happy New Year to you and hugs!

Wedding ring customs have slowly changed over time, as well as in different countries. I wonder when men started wearing rings at all. Long ago it was a symbol of the woman being a possession, not now.

Nice mural! I look forward to the lions.

Happy New Year from... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

A possesssion?! OMG!!! That is horrible.
To more Lions, then! And a Happy New Year to you, too!

We wear ours on the left hand. Also mine is very wide and my husband's is narrow. I should have done what you did as I would have preferred the narrow band.

Iris Flavia said...

Jackie, to me it represents... old fashioned, huh, but that we are "one"....

Most people wear them on the left hand in the states.I love yours. It's really beautiful -- elegant and simple. And the story behind it as well.

Yes, kind and gentle on blog. I couldn't agree more!

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, thank you (in Germany you wear a wedding ring on your right hand so all assume we´re not married!)

...a BIG heart and a BIG smile are two important things!

Iris Flavia said...

I agree BIG with you!

Here in the States wedding rings are worn on the left hand as well. We sometimes get inquisitive looks because my husband and I wear them on the right (we married while still living in Germany). Here, the big deal is the engagement ring that the man buys for his future wife and then she shows it around... I'm glad we could skip that part, to be honest. I like your ring!
Happy new year.

Titanium makes such strong ring, so you must have a strong bond. How nice is that. My husband won't wear rings and hangs his in the kitchen on a nail. It's ok, I know it isn't me as I know he loves me and he just isn't into rings. I find it interesting to read how it various where you are from how the rings are worn. It's fascinating. Happy new week. Hugs-Erika

A colourful mural.

Carola, funny story, yes, we skipped that engagement ring, too and had only a wee little wedding. I don´t show stuff around! Well, but my seasonal earrings to the cash-out-woman who wears a Santa hat and has such earrings, too :-)

Erika, Ingo never takeshis ring off, but to see it hanging it the litchen must be nice, too!
Yes, if or when I wear the ring I got from my Dad to my 30th birthday people might think I am married ;-) Hugs from here

William, yes, I think it´s school-kids who made it.
