Tom inspired me to go back to our travels throughout Australia to make up for NOT being there now but stuck at home.
In Germany for some weird reason Thursdays back then was movie night - I hardly went.
The
tallest guy sits in front of me, to the side a guy who eats popcorn /
whatever LOUDLY and the fellow behind me comments the movie - NOT FUN!
My partners didn´t enjoy my complaining, either.
Last
time we went in Braunschweig was 2015, early on a Sunday morno to avoid
such stupid. My boss presented me with tickets, so we had to go - we choose Honig im Kopf, now available in English, "Head Full of Honey", a wonderful movie.
If you have a case of Alzheimer´s around you, this is a "must" or should-see, to also have some laughs to cope with it all. Here is the longer German wiki-version, google translate does a great job...
But in Broome / WA we went to the cinema because we WANTED to!
First time 1995, out of curiosity. We didn´t have much time, but you HAVE to visit the world-oldest open air cinema, right, Sun Pictures is wonderful (dolby surround etc of course)!
Sadly the movie that night was Forrest Gump - I didn´t like that movie, the worst scene was when Forrest stepped out onto the verandah and looked up in that kitch-sky, ha such nonesense!!!
But
guess. Broome is nearly Outback and the movie-sky just turned into the
real sky - there is near to no light-pollution - it was wonderful and
ever since this is one my fav movies!
1999 we had the time of the world, so...
(And yes, I go with Freddie, "I don´t like Star Wars"!!! Boy, was THAT boring!)
More to come and in case you have the earworm I have, here goes:
Henry 🦁... he says:
He proudly sits on a gully cover and won´t go underground.
He thinks those who enjoyed the cinema soon can again and bites Corinna in her Popo!
And to end with a real prospect:
1999 on our last day in cinema I suddenly smelled... PIZZA! You were allowed to bring in a Pizza from the Pizza-restaurant! I begged Ingo for one more movie night - with a Pizza, but we´d seen all good movies (including Life is beautiful - it came in the original (Italian), with English subtitles on the Italian. We outed ourselves by bitterly laughing on the German parts that were not translated... buhhh).
The prospect: Ingo owes me a Pizza in Sun Pictures - we have to get back!!!

I love going to the movies, but haven't been since about February last year. But I'm hoping to go soon to the French Film Festival!
The Broome Sun Pictures would have been a great venue. We have a couple of outdoor movie venues and I love going there, it's so relaxing, you can go early and take a picnic basket with you and enjoy some food with your friends before the movie starts.
See, we have nothing like that here, not that I know of, at least!
There is a classical concert a year (pre-Corinna) where you could have a picnic, too, but that kind of music is not really for me...
Enjoy your French movies, Sami!
The last time I went to the movies was when I saw Sully in IMAX. My friend Sally paid for the tickets since I'd never seen an IMAX before. It was LOUD, but I still enjoyed the film. Thankfully it was an afternoon, so no kids and few people in the theater. We had assigned seats, too. Sadly, Sally likes to sit in the back and I like to sit near the front. We compromised and sat in the center. At least I could still see the stage.
Now I will be singing Sweet Home Alabama all day long. LONG song and fun to watch.
Elizabeth, LOL! Just make sure to step on your verandah tonight and look at the sky, dancing 💃💃💃, huh?
Yes, that is another issue, it´s too loud at the cinema! I hate that.
...I like the "catruck" park out front. Enjoy your memories.
I do, Tom, I do :-)
Oh, how I'd love to be in an open air cinema like that. What a great idea (especially these days!) And to have all that dark sky around you, and stars. I love it!
Yes, I hope to return some day!

Cheers
I now feel compelled to punch Jar Jar Binks in the face.
Haven't been to a movie in years. The sound is way too loud when I last went, too uncomfortable for the ears. I expect it is the same or worse now.
I like reading your story about movie night. I think Tom had a good idea having you go back and review stories. And you watched a lot of movies. I saw they were repeated, but what was your favorite?
Padre, oh, yes!

William, I´ll help!

Bill, yes, way too loud!

Erika, crazy as it sounds it was "Life is Beautiful".... Despite I am sick and tired of this subject but Roberto Benigni really was outstanding. And it was also fascinating that I didn´t have the feeling to hear Italian, read English, no, the brain is clever and just let´s you enjoy the movie! Maybe cause (sadly) I don´t speak Italian other than Ciao, Pizza, .... LOL
Been literally years since I went to the movies, last time was probably 15 years ago with my children when they were little.
Oh dearest Iris! I love the seating on that Cinema!!! So summery and hipster, cuteness!
Oh and Iris speaking of Manholes, I watched a video yesterday about a group of artists painting manholes with beautiful designs on Berlin and then using that as a stencil for Shirt Design IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL! And the best part is that after doing it, they clean away the paint stains so no trace of it :) I think it's so beautiful and the shirts look like awesome souvenirs!
