T STands For iT Works!

My bit for Elizabeth´s T - when home-sickness strikes... This is a non-alcoholic summer-drink  waiting for warm weather and a holiday "Down Under"...

If you like, the journal again, sorting my boggled mind:

Monday: Dreamed two men came into our condo, stating they have the right to and they are to check - didn´t say WHAT, though. Suddenly a woman was there, too. Ingo was off to work.
Scary. Why does my mind do that, again and again? (We live ground floor but should be safe).
I got up, didn´t want to fall into that dream again!

THEN (this is no Pseudo code)
HA! I am so proud of myself! MS Word did what I want!!! HA! EUREKA!!!
No need to bother anyone!
Maybe I´m a (mini-) Manager for sure by now. I manage things!
People, really. They altered not only Pseudo Code but also Variables!!! They torture me!
1heure > 1hour - who CARES?! It´s no REAL variable! (I hope!!!)

The Prince of Zamunda visited me soon after!!!
Colleague/customer A finally turned 30 and I sent some money via Paypal as I see no chance to get to Salzgitter.
Admin: I put your money in the envolope and add your name, ok?
On me asking, "no pressie, ah, money is always better" he sent me this:

We´re some team, huh? They are priceless!!

AAAND!!!! Another Street-Find!!!

See Wednesday at Tom´s Signs2!

Tuesday: Proofreader called me. Woah, I really had to take it all, he is "not amused".
Hectic, hectic hectic.
I asked if we need the meeting with the translation company "later".
My mind was on Wednesday-mode.
11+ hours again, yet Teamleader and I found time (whilst waiting for Excel) to talk about Peanut and his cat.

Really. I cannot imagine anymore how we worked in one office! Being really physically in one room!
I remember my other T. When there was time he asked me to come into his office, we closed the door, sat side by side and he taught me JavaScript-tricks.
(Glas-door, don´t get wrong thoughts 🤣)

Wednesday: (Too much) work. Icky weather.

Thursday: (Too much) work. Icky weather.
ESE called and I got a BIG buhuu.  I am NOT to work more than 10 hours and that only from time to time.
Funny. Instead of a thank you I get told off.
How would we have managed if people worked like this?!
Yes, not our fault the Spanish colleagues don´t deliver in time, but the job has to get done!
And we are a TEAM!
I said, I wrote down 8 hours always, count the rest I did this in my free-time then.
Not allowed.
Germans. Rules. My ALSTOM-Teamleader said thank you and sent a virtual glass of sparkling wine when our "baby" went on the rail for real on December 13th!
I was disappointed of ESE.
Being told off cause you work for and with the team...
I understand. They have to take care, but...
How is it in your world?

Friday: Dreamed we were in a Greek restaurant. My brain is a bugger! The Greek olives are way past "Best before"-date and we have an opened pack of Feta in the fridge. The prosciutto... let´s not talk about that.

I live to tell you, it was yummy.

FINALLY - only 7 1/2 hours of work, followed by doing the laundry and dishes. cleaning up, yippeee, my life is soooo cool. (Irony, right?)

Weekend:
Saturday: My brain boggles. I saw a series where a woman hopped into her car and just drove away. Away.. is my company car since 2018 and I´ve never driven since.
And suddenly I feel like I want to drive a car.
I don´t need to!!! LUCKILY!!!

I am NOT kidding you - and it IS scary!

I.Drove.A.Car!!! After 5 years!

A guy asked me to set Ingo´s car back a bit, so he fits in when I got the groceries out.
It took so long in the pitch-dark so when I came home Ingo was fully dressed (it´s cold) and even had a loaded weapon (non-lethal/blank gun, of course) to look where I am.
I drove!!!  I still can do it!! Yippeyahyeah, Schweinebacke!

Grocery-shopping and cooking: Ingo´s job AGAIN.
Trains, trains, trains all the time ;-)

Sunday: Slept in again like a dead one, but hopefully come March the mega-stress is over.
As explained here why I always write down but 8 hours despite working much longer, I will hopefully have some free time on my hands!

Food-wise:

To a happy T-Day!

And a sad good bye to Erika´s Red- thank you, it was fun (and I have some more I´ll just share here and there).

This is the last cat from my tissues...  which does not mean I still need them...

Henry 🦁

Tomorrow, Son (maybe)....

I don't know about work from home systems, but in factories where I worked and at other jobs, you have set hours and can only work overtime if the boss asks or tells the workers. When I was a checkout operator if the boss asked me to stay at work longer I had the choice to stay or say no, usually I stayed.

Iris Flavia said...

Yes, working from home and ALSTOM/ESE are different. At Volkswagen/CGS I had a system where I put in when I started, when I left and my break.
Now: 8 hours and the rest is on trust-basis.

It´s a crazy world. To-be-teamleader told me 14 hours was his max and at Siemens they worked the night through once to save the project.
And look at how farmers work! Or people who have their own business. My Father often worked on the weekends to get the job done.
I cannot decide what I prefer.
Trust, I guess.

Others have a smoke, I have an as long bloggy-time ;-)

sounds like you working lots of overtime, there were several years when I was a phone operator we had forced overtime-soo much of it-great for the pay check though.
great journal pages and red for AJJ loving that one. Your drink sounds good-love the label-is that a lemon tea? Happy T day Iris hugs from the lake

Iris Flavia said...

I luckily don´t get money - the state would get half of that! I get free time :-)
The cat says thank you!
The drink was more like. Hm - beer with no alcohol, I´d say.
A happy T-Day to you, too, and hugs to you and the lake!

Nancy Chan said...

Seems you are working overtime and not being paid for it. But at least you some some free time.

CJ Kennedy said...

If I can only work 8 hrs. then that's all I would do. After 8 hrs. I would clock out, finished or not. The bosses can't have it both ways. Either they pay you for all the hours you work and not expect you have to put in more time, but then reprimand you for it. Grrrr. I laughed and was delighted at your John McClane quote. 😺 Your journal is always fun to look through. Hope the work slows down and bosses get off your back. Happy T Day

Iris Flavia said...

Nancy, yes, freetime is much better! The state gets too much of the money otherwise...

____

CJ, I do it for the team and to keep the job.
Hope from tomorrow on it will be quieter, Schweinebacke 🤣
Nah, it´s all OK. I just would´ve liked support rather than being told off..

Hello sweet, Iris. Happy T-day. I have missed you and plan to catch up soon.

Here it depends on what work classification your job falls into. If you are straight salary, you can work yourself to death. If you are paid based on hours you work, you have to absolutely put in the number of hours you worked or the employer can get in lots of trouble. My Mom had an employee who came in early for like 10 years and read the paper (no work). Then she sued for 10 years of overtime she didn't get paid. They tried to fight it saying she was reading the paper and not working but the lady won because she had proof she was there at her desk. There were fines for the company on top of the back overtime which she was actually not working....

Love all your journaling and details of your week. One week I am going to do a post like this -so fun.

Your drink looks and sounds very interesting. Glad you drove a bit. I even have a bit of anxiety if I haven't driven in a week or two so I can't imagine after 5 years how it was.

Hugz and hope this week is full of fun stuff!

Your drawings just get better and better Iris. I love the too much work on in your journal because I definitely know that feeling. And your pirate cat made me smile too. I like his red pipe and that eyepatch. The book I am reading now has a 10 year old girl in it who wears an eyepatch. Funny how sometimes something different pops up in 1 place and then you see it elsewhere. Thank you again for all your fun drawings for AJJ this month. Mr. Pirate Kitty is another fun addition. Hope you are having a super T day. Hugs-Erika

Dear Nancy,
At VW I was able to put in my hours exactly exept it was 10+ (and I worked longer often) - a pressie to the team - and I was granted 6 weeks holiday in a row, it´s a give and take :-)
I don´t want money as the state gets too much from that - time is priceless, right!

HA! The woman I was supposed to substitute always had a cup of hot coffee and an important looking map with her and went to all colleagues chatting.
Wonder if she got her job back cause I worked in a different more or less very soon and the teamleader found out how "hard" she´d worked!

Yes, yes, please, join me with the journal!
The weird thing is... I felt safe in the car. But on a bike... I am super-mega-careful like a 90-year-old!

To a great week and hugz!

____

Tom, yes, when it gets warmer I SURE will :-)

____

William, I´m remote kinda non-stop!

____

Erika, yes, we are simply knackered at times, huh? But it´s a great job!
Pirate cat says thank-you-arrrrr!
Ingo´s Brother had an eyepatch as a kid, too. Get´s weirder by the minute, huh?
Thank YOU for red - it was a lot of fun, a lot of motivation!
To a happy T-Day, hugs!

CJ is right and so is Nancy. I have punched a clock AND have been salaried. Advantages and disadvantages to both.

Your calendar always makes me smile. SO glad ou share it each week and I love how your brain works.

It was great to see the last journal page for Erika's theme at AJJ and it was a cutie with the eye patch.

Your lemon drink from Down Under looks wonderful. I would love it this summer, I think. Thanks for sharing your calendar, your art, and your lemon drink with us for T this Tuesday, dear Iris.

It's been so long since I worked I can't imagine either one. The drink sounds tasty :) Happy T Tuesday!

Iris Flavia said...

Dear Elizabeth, I will get time off and time is more precious as money (that our politicians easily snap away in these cases).
Trust is better I think. I hope!

The cat says thank you and yes to summer (or Spring soon!)

____

Divers and Sundry, I still "have" a while to go and in this team it´s fun! To summer-drinks!

Getting time off for your extra hours is not bad especially if you know when you can use it in the future.

deb, thank you! This I call motivation! Happy T-Day, hugs!

Bill, oh, yes, better than money for sure!!!

Hi Iris, I have been guilty of working long hours too, and guess what, no one thanks you for it! Then you just get stressed and burnt out from working too much, so yes stop working 10 hour days, they will never realise that there is a problem, or that they need to allocate more time for a project, if one person is taking on more work than others in the team. Take time off, go for a walk, get away from the desk/computer and stop working for nothing. No one will thank you for it in the end my friend. Now I love your Bundaberg drink! I had a friend who used to drink the real stuff, Bundaberg rum, that stuff has a very unique smell, ugh not my favourite lol. If you are feeling homesick maybe I will dig out some of my WA photos for you, though you probably have heaps lol. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

RedPat said...

I have been self employed for many years and sometimes you work realllly long days but then you hopefully get time that you can take off and not feel guilty. Although it is hard to turn down a project since you don't know when the next one may come so you do tend to work a lot.

pearshapedcrafting said...

I'm pleased to know that you are getting some of your time back. It will show how valuable your working all that extra time was. Well done for driving again. I had a big break from driving and it took me a while to get my confidence back. Once again dear Iris your drawings are sooo good! I now want a lemon drink instead of the water by my side HappyT Day, Chrisx,

I just love how you illustrate your journal, Iris. The drawings are clever, fun and they always make me smile. I think back to the years when you were without work and how upsetting that was and now, even though you are working your tail off, you're with good people and you love it. That makes me just delighted!

Have a great week!
