Colonial Lion

This Lion is to be found at the end of Jasperallee.

It´s a colonial memorial.

It´s there to remind people that after WW I there were some poeple who did not accept or understand that colonial rule means disrespect of rights and oppression up to murder.

A small group did a lot, no?
Sometimes it really sucks to be German.
But then... have a look around the world. It´s past in other countries - and today.
This was the Lion of the day btw.

Hope To Get It Back

Back then (1984) when they... when I had to sign I might loose the function of my right hand - all went well but my arm looked like a Cordon Bleu (hmmm, yum ;-)...).
Ingo wanted to take a pic and in the aftermath I´m mad at myself I didn´t let him do it cause when people now tell me the scars look "bad"... Cordon Bleu!

My ear is gone, though..
It´s horrible, even worse than the arm back then!
I cannot concentrate.
I feel like crying all the time.

More than three people talking?
I´m out.

BOOM, right beside my right ear the thing went BOOM.

It was MY FAULT but he should´ve checked.

I cannot hear.
With that I cannot think.
Citralopram and now this.

I need a break.
Mornings: dark.
Arvos: dark.

And can I ever handle that darn Walther???
Why do I need to learn this anyways???
Thank you, Angela Merkel, you have "body guards", I do not.

Germany.. Ger-money...I don´t wanna live here no more.
Ingo says my hearing will come back.
Happened to him - BOOM - as well.
See a doc? I dunno. I´m just tired, sooo tired.

Cute - Those Cats

This place is called Kattreppeln and this memorial was made by Siegfried Neuenhausen in 1981 who thought this old name might be because cats could roam this area with no fear.

Cats :-)
In August 2015 the police had to come to rescue.
An elderly couple was attacked by their cat, can you believe that?
The book 100 things about Braunschweig you should know says so!

In February that very same year a brave cat climbed a tree too high and got stuck for five long days until firefighters found her, poor thing!

There also is a café, Micky & Molly, dedicated to cats.

To cats!
One day, one day!!!
I will hopefully find a feline friend.

Pics by Ingo btw!

Lions are cats, too, no. And likely, if I make the 5 km and will meet my T at IKEA he´ll offer me a coffee...
He´s starting a brand new life :-)

I´m In Love With My Car (But I Don´t Have One)

I looooove(d) the TV series JAG with that hot guy, David James Elliott, oh, boy (and he drove such a car, in blue even, if I remember right).

(Gurri is my partner in crime again)
Luckily Ingo liked the series, too, and we watched every Sunday back then.

Those were the days when BMW was a great model. Sadly they are long over.
It was so cute when Bro said once he finished studying in Cologne he´ll sell his Volvo and buy me such a used, or pre-loved Z3!!!

He certainly never did, has two kids now and I guess still has that ole Volvo :-)

This is the car my Dad taught me how to drive at age 14 (with gears, no automatic) - cars, in German, are male btw.
I certainly took off by myself and who was told off by my Mum?
Dad.
Big.
He never taught Bro to drive ;-)

Not the best song by Queen and I have no car no more - and enjoy this immensely!

To the (g)olden times!

He´ll always be my love :-)

Colorful World

I do bet Ingo is "happy", or, say, relieved, I can´t see without correction glasses cause otherwise I (probably, probably not) would have bought these, cause, you know... I love red with white dots!
Especially in the dark half of the year!

Those shops are so tempting!

But luckily I have reached an age where you can say I slowly get to be too mature to fall for such stuff, right? ;-)

Or maybe...

I´ve reached an age where I am just too old, LOL!
Why, please, why no face???
A joke, genderization, is it not possible to tell which sex we are anymore, male, female, none... I don´t get it! Old (wo)man yells at cloud! - feel free to call me Grampa! ;-)

The weather is beyond nice atm.
But doesn´t this give you a colorful hint of, say... Italy...

It was at Alte Waage, though, taken last month in good weather.

Colours we´ll get with the leaves turning into yellow, red etc, not happening yet, though, just cold and icky.

But we sure got some color reuniting - what would I do without my T :-)

We need some color!

Colorful lion of the day.

Just Right

2013, after nearly 20 years, Ingo and I married.
In Germany you wear the wedding ring on your right hand, but we got married in Perth, Western Australia, and hence wear it on the left hand.

Where I had actually the ring I got from my Dad for my 30th Birthday.
He let my Mum engrave the date not of my birth but of my Birthday and Aussies read the 1 in cursive as 7.
And that was the day he lost his fight against cancer that exact year, July 19th.

The ring broke, as it was of bad quality (industrial), the diamond got nearly lost and in the end my Bro made the ring with new material - pure white gold ( he is, amongst other, a goldsmith, also).
I hate the color of gold, my Dad, as a goldsmith, loved it, we had some fights and this was the alternative that made us both happy, white-gold.

Now... the right hand - if you work with it - is "bigger" than the left and hence I could not switch the ring over.
I asked Bro to make it wider to fit, but he never had the nerve or time as the diamond makes it difficult.
Pic?
My Dad brought shark teeth from a holiday as lucky charms and I asked Bro to make some jewlery from it, but again... having two kids etc, etc, he never found the time.

So I asked to give it all just back next time we meet - and he did.
And he said I lost weight the ring sure fits.

I didn´t believe him and it would´ve been embarassing if he was wrong, buuut:

He was right, Dad is with me again :-)
Did you ever think you could loose fat on your fingers???

This, btw is my wedding ring:

Both our rings were too big and Bro had a real hard time making them smaller - he hung on the machine with all his weight, too!
Titanium!

Ideas for the shark teeth are welcome!

This Lion is for you, Dad.
All golden.
Miss ya.

Lasagna, Please

Mural found in Westbahnhof, again no hint to the artist, but don´t you crave lasagna now, too?

I do, oh, thank you, Garfield ;-)

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals :-)
