Perth XV

Still Saturday 23rd this was. After Freo we hopped onto the train again and went to Subi, yay for dayrider tickets, right? And when you get out you get kindly greeted with "Thank you for travelling with Transperth" - you go, Transperth :-)

Have a look at Deutsche Bahn: Overpriced, very often late, bad service and more than once they skip stations, too!
Just imagine your colleague from Hannover calls you 2 hours after he should be in the office in Wolfsburg saying: The ICE didn´t stop, I´m in Berlin.
So far in the last 2 years happened 3 times already (not with him all the time...
Yes, I know, Wolfsburg, gahhh, but still! They should stop no matter what they think of that town ;-)

No, seriously: Transperth really is great, being bus, train and ferry as well.

Right the first thing you see is... as mentioned before,

Grill´d :-)
The place is packed all day long, it seems!

I love my "new" cam, so many options, at times you hit a button by accident - the result, no editing required, fast as it might be, I know that - might come out as a surprise like this:

Since I did not edit it, it has some magic to me - how did the place look like back then when black and white photography was the option for guys like us?
The same?
Our stroll again took us via Market Square Park, what a tree, huh?

Did I ever mention I love my new cam? Awww, yay for HDR!

Sooo beautiful, no?
Especially back then thinking of, now looking outside the window, how the "colors" are over here right now... or the temps, -3C.

Better have a look at this!

Ahhhh...

Now, ok, we weren´t married back then yet. But. Who the heck is that girl Ingo has his hands on?!

No, seriously, google is kinda incooperative from here, is there a story behind her?

Guess you wonder about this pic, no?

The shadow. You won´t see that over here, a shadow of you being you, like just right there so close to you from above directly.
Amazes me every time, here we have long shadows only.

Ahh, Subi is just another very beautiful suburb, no?

Can´t I win the lottery big style, a house like that would be awesome!
Ok, chances are zero since I don´t play, but one can dream, huh?

You think we headed home now? Nope. More to come :-)

Hmm, dunno, my hands are cold, 19C inside, but I feel warm enough to not need my microwave sheep or duck (yet) - due to the momries of our holidays?
OK, might be a fever as well, a meeting was cancelled today due to flu.
On the customer´s side - I really shouldn´t jinx it, right???

Perth XIV

Thursday we didn´t do much, Friday H took us to Joondalup Shopping Centre - it was a treat, I don´t get tired of looking around. On the way was an IKEA, but, alas, we have one near our home in Braunschweig, so, after a second of thinking about going, we skipped, sorry, H ;-)

Saturday we went to ... see pic above, via Warwick:

To you this may be a "questionable" cause ordinary pic to post. To me it´s special.
I still have the stations prompted/called out by the system´s voice in Aussie English in my ear - that will fade soon, you just don´t hear it over here...

As said, from Warwick to...

and from there on to Freo

For lunch we had.. yep, the in Germany not known yummy..

pie :-)
Maybe not healthy, but we were on holiday, right? Quick, yummy, handy: Pie!

A seagull - as said, when not trying to catch fish: Beautiful birds that always remind me of the sea, any sea, I love the sea!

Sadly I don´t like coffee (much/seldom), but that sign is just great, no?
Sitting here, freezing my butt off (heating didn´t work properly today), seeing those guys in short clothes and thongs... ahhhh...

We needed a refreshment (Sail and Anchor Amber Ale, yes I know you guessed;-)...) - beautiful entrance hall, no?

Grace, if you happen to read along, I bet you know who this guy was? - Not Ingo ;-)

Guess by now it´s not "just art", but some local scientist, artist?
There was another statue of a war-pilot, too, also a local, I can imagine...
And, yes. We even had H´s smartphone with us and could´ve looked it up - but I assumed, as said, it´s "just a piece of art"...

Liked those artistically painted piers:

Beautiful, no?

Somewhere on the way...

warming my heart :-)

We also visited the markets - you can run, you can hide, Germany gets us, if it is just a Mettwurst ;-)

"Authentic German Bratwurst"

I have one thing to say... or two.
They sure do look like German Bratwurst - we didn´t try them, though.
Aussies are great in making Jerky, Pies, Coon... but sausage? No.
As said - we didn´t try those, but they look like ours.

It was too crowded in there, so we left.

Crepe Suzette.... as Simpson´s fan (and someone who doesn´t care about sweets, hence not knowing about the actual sweet stuff´s history) I had to take a pic, right? Le Comte de Monte-Cristo... he says "revenge"!!! ;-)

A technical school in such a building...

Guess that´s Aussie-style? Over here it´s never done that well to connect old and new...

Speaking of... the new architecture blends in beautifully in Freo as well, not dominating, but being there here, too:

Love that.

Also how much is done to decorate for Christmas so nicely, so beautiful - not done over here!
You may kinda take it for granted, I always go ohhhh and ahhh...

May also be cause of the blue sky and the temps ;-)

Also love how you play around with letters. Over here they just mix both languages like in "Kaffee to go" or "Taschen for sale" - plain stupid.
This...

is funny in my eyes.

Red, if you happen to peek in here - I went outside again to get the cam to take this loo-pic, just shortly before our train departed.
BTW: I enjoy your January-loo-pic "The little loo of one thousand dreams", with this being my birthday-month.
One thousand dreams... for me? :-)

This one has style, a pure reminder of some days ago and if I understood right there are no men/women-sections, either...

Yes, this is the train station Freo, from here on we went to Subi.

One day, two posts - I need to finish this one here cause a) it´s getting late, b) too much a pic galore, already, right?
But sorry, this is not "ordinary" but from a German bloke´s eye :-)

Hide Them Under The Table

... or Shoe-Fashion Made By Age And Cold

Shortly after 5 am this morning I found my car completedly coated in ice :-(
I know actually it is not allowed, but after some effectless, straining, hurting scratching I turned on the car and the heating, directed onto the windscreen, made scratching a bit easier, was 4 minutes late at work - only! Despite being super-extra careful, driving in -2C with light rain, dangerous condition!

So, after "dancing" around the car in the cold, after sitting in the warm car for 30 minutes and a very short walk through the cold and then 5 floors up... time and weather redesigned my boots, which I wore for the first - and last time this season...

Both shoes, that is.

So I was hectically looking for tape before "that" colleague arrived and rearranged my shoes like this...

And I tried to stay put - who knows how well the "construction" keeps the shoes together...
I showed T what had happened - certainly he laughed.
Yes, that´s why I do IT, not design, huh? ;-)

I asked T, "Can you please make a cuppa tea for me?"

He elegantly said, "sure, youre welcome!"

Awful colleague F looked up! WHAT???

Later, "T, can you please make me another cuppa?"

"At your service :-)"

F: ????? He was literally dying not knowing what is going on!!! We laughed our heads off.

Then, "T, can you please get me my lunch?"

"Love doing that! :-)"

F was like a cock trying to keep his hens together, WHAT IS GOING ON????

When F was on the phone I took my chance - he cannot concentrate on two things.

I had to walk very slow to the loo (tea, huh!) and the tape made loud, rustling sounds on the carpet in the quiet rooms, I had trouble not to laugh about myself, I must´ve looked so stupid!
T was about to ask me if I suffer sore muscles, he said, but then he heard me coming and was reminded of my situation, we laughed silently till our bellies hurt.

I certainly could not resist to ask my T for more tea.

Boy, did we have fun this day!
By the time I left F had forgotten about my mystery  and was deep in his work, whew!

I made it five floors down the stairs, went outside where our cleaning lady had a cigarette before work.
I waved good-bye and was two steps past her when I lost the left heel, we talk about some 5 cm... And realised only one step later, too.
When she saw my shoes from the front as I picked up the heel, she looked astonished and we giggled.

I made it to Braunschweig - pic taken at around 2:20 p.m. btw! -, parked the car and needed some 300 m home.
With the last bit of shoes I made it to the house - am I glad we live ground-floor!

I have another pair of boots with high heels, as old.
I checked with my hands - they broke.
I need new boots...

And a second pair of shoes for staying in the car is ready to go with me tomorrow as well!

What a day...

Can say that for Bro as well. He wanted to clean the windows in his workplace, stepped on the table which flipped and everything went down with more than one big bang - nothing happened to him, but it was the table with the watch-maker-stuff - those things are tiny!
But he said he wanted to clean up and sort out anyways ;-)

"Are We There Yet" The Other Way Round

Due to Bro asking to not show family-pics to strangers, the full version is here, friends are welcome, just let me know.

So yesterday Bro and his family came over - and, despite actually we don´t present each other but little Niece - they came with pressies, too.

Certainly little Niece helped me eagerly after she´d helped wrapping them before ;-)

Actually it´s quite known I´m afraid of dogs, but this one awwww:

And he´s useful, too:

With usb for energy.
Such a cutie:

And that wasn´t all, my, I dunno, guess we really are back to presents for everyone, which is difficult, as adult you actually have everything, no?

Still this bag is very cute (just bad I have soooo many bags!):

After some jogging through the living-room - am I thankful no one lives bunderneath us! - Niece picked some books from behind the swing. The only children´s book there is "Are We There Yet" (English), the others were with cute pics but still thoughtful books for adults.

So playing with the easy chair was more fun:

And Sully and Mike got another chance, too:

They even brought some cake and Niece helped me getting plates and forks and since we don´t have a coffee table in the living room and since no one wanted to eat at the kitchen table in the kitchen or bring the kitchen table over we ate on the floor. Alas.

Guess once I sold the crosstrainer I´ll buy a table I can store there. Cake on the floor - we´re not in Egypt or such!

Later Niece asked for a puzzle - which I had - guess 5 ages +, she´s 3, so we had to help, Bro actually:

And yes, I admit, actually we bought it to puzzle ourselves when cooking something that needs to simmer for a while...

Niece wasn´t that pleased...

But she concentrated so hard, a little accident occured.
Mind you.
Certainly she wanted me to help.
So, for about 10 minutes I struggeled with the - really tight tights, whilst everybody - except Niece - laughed their heads off!
Niece stayed very calm but looked at me like I was dumb, LOL.
Another "man, am I clumsy" was answered with a "yeeeees"...

Really, my respect to all Mothers who manage this on a struggling baby!

SIL then remembered I wanted to give Niece "The Little Prince" as puzzle-book last year, which was too early, so we got something adequate after all :-)
We looked at family pics on my PC (Bro doesn´t have them yet) and often someone said Niece looks just like us, Bro and I.
Poor SIL, Niece has nothing optical from her.
Guess it´ll be the character then...

Really at times I could swear that was her, not me in the pic...

The title?
Little Niece seems to assume when she refuses to say good-bye properly they stay ;-)
