A Sign For Christmas - Aussie Jingle Bells

As said, this week´s still Christmas here, we are on holiday!
This is a sign. A piece of paper, you say?
It IS a sign - a sign people care!!!
Whilst Hugh played the guitar and sang I got into a chat with his wife Maureen.
And ca. 20 mossie-bites, cause I did not BMO mossie-weapon (have it  right here now).

This was 2016.
Maureen was just happily married to Hugh.
Classic newlyweds. Heavily in love, finally!!!

They first met in the 1950´s.
Maureen had to move away with her family, but she never forgot Hugh.
She used Facebook, the rest is happy history 🥰

And they wanted to share their happiness and love - not just for Christmas!!!!

As I cannot provide it all please read - if you are not familiar with it here - and the song follows!
It is from the internet, explaining Aussie-slang a bit:

Dashing Through the bush
In a rusty Holden Ute
Kicking up the dust
Esky (A food cooler) in the boot (the Trunk)
Kelpie (cattle dog) by my side
Singing Christmas songs
It's summer time and I am in my singlet,
Shorts and thongs!

Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
Jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia
On a Scorching summer's day
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
Christmas time is beaut
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a rusty Holden Ute!

Engine's getting hot
Dodge the Kangaroos
Swaggie climbs aboard
He is welcome too

All the fam-I-Iy is there
Sitting by the pool
Christmas day, the Aussie way
By the barbeque!

Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
Jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia
On a Scorching summer's day
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
Christmas time is beaut
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a rusty Holden Ute!

Come the afternoon
Grandpa has a doze
The kids and Uncle Bruce
Are swimming in their clothes
The time comes round to go
We take a family snap (photo)
Then pack the car and all shoot through (go home)
Before the washing up.

This is certainly for Tom´s Signs2 - have a Merry Little Christmas and SING!!!

And here is a real sign, too:

Henry 🦁

Love makes a difference and you can find your love - no matter how long it takes.
To Hugh and Maureen!
It would be magic if we met them come January!!!
I will keep you posted!

P.S. Our first Aussie-car was a Holden Commodore.

We slept in it, hence. But we also rode in the back of a ute, on Fraser Island. The driver had a booze... Not to be repeated!!!!

Oh, Boy....

We are safe - the mini-arm of river Oker is two streets away.
Water is rolling in. Hope Bro is safe...
What more to say. Henry hides...

T Stands For These Ravens

This was the last bit of the Baked Apple Dresdner Striezel together with - Ingo bought, did not like, but I love it - baked apple mulled wine! With the latter I join Elizabeth´s T!
I certainly took just a bit - it warms you through but too much is not good!

The journal:

Monday: BOY!!! Still pitch dark, Raven #1 starts the noise. Unheard, but by me (I hope).
Then #2 joins in, what a noise.
Peanut, I think, stole the high-quality bird food.
I give him/them walnuts every day!!!! For crying out loud.

Met a new colleague - great guy.
Hey, we have 450 peeps... I´m on my way!

Tuesday: We´re all working low, most are on holidays already.

Wednesday: Ingo´s last work-day. Means: I can cuddle up at nights!
Chatting with admin T about my halfbike to arrive.
He told me not to let Ingo drive it!!! As Ingo is much taller and hence heavier. They didn´t say that in their description (I needed to give height and weight).

Thursday: Craziest weather. I thought the tree by the window will take off.
Christmas Market closed due to thunderstorms and Ingo came home from grocery shopping on foot just before - heaviest rain, storm, thunder!!
Door-bell!!! Poor postie brought my halfbike. He said not to worry he´s done for the work day soon.
Drama to assemble that thing, BIG drama, but Ingo got it done.
Now I wait for better weather...

Friday: K picked me up, which I am thankful for as I had to take my Granpa with me.
We found free workplaces, but I really have a Granpa (name given by admin T)... not able to connect "him" (Lenovo-laptop) to the two monitors provided.
But the Polish colleague had invited and talked over an hour. I am convinced now he breathes through his ears. He talks nonstop, I always get breathless just listening.
At least I now know what "Ässe" means. "ESE", our company-name!!!

As Polish-K did not stop talking "East-German"-K got me a Latte macchiato. (Post on the EAST is on the way, Erika).
Said, "I have another meeting now, actually" to stop him. Dumb me´d let M know it will be a brekkie - she said, "Good yum!  😉" (I think she is my boss for now... duuuuhhh).

Well, then the Christmas-brekkie, all supernice colleagues! K got me a whole breadroll, cut in halves (we all had but one knife for that - we were about 12 peeps around one small table!!).
If I only want the one half? "Yes, but I´d like to try that Turkish roll over there", I answered, colleague to the other side, to the next one, "can you hand the plate over, please?", and presented it to me!
I call that teamwork, or friendliness!!! 🥰
The vegan meat and egg... Boss wants "bigger ones" 🤣 It was a salad, too...

New colleague popped in and asked for our names. LOL. Forget about that. She "got" the German ones (she is German), but the others? Not a chance, me, neither.
All I got one is from Kazakhstan, a Jew, the other didn´t say, but he´s a Muslim and they were chatting side by side, even about religion and food. One from India and on it went.

We are a cool bunch, I hope they keep me!
Went to the city to take pics and bought sausages.
Rain and heavy wind - GACK!

Weekend: Saturday: Ingo got goose, but it was too frozen so again we had horse-sausages.
Later Ingo "forced" me to watch a docu on the Indian Pacific (which we will ride from Adelaide to B > Perth - and hopefully meet fellow blogger River!!!).
I think I will grin a lot - we drove that by car already.
And weeeee... maybe I can have a look at the technical details saying ALSTOM! Deutsche Bahn!!!! Wish me luck! That would be so awesome!!!!

Sunday: Got up early - Santa certainly was not there! 😉 (Ingo snored and I wanted him to sleep in).

Munch-wise:

I must admit. Mom did a better job (but this was Ingo´s first).
As I was not allowed in the kitchen back in the day I only heard every 10 minutes that she has to pour sugar-water over the (poor bird) goose.
It was delicious!!! And in my memory the meat was white like chicken!

Henry (´s wife)🦁

I cannot believe Christmas will be over! Yesterday big Niece called, reckon Bro today.
(I never know when the time is right, so I just WhatsApp - YAY to technology!!!!)
If you cannot visit yours either I hope you, too, get such nice calls!

To The Lights

I start showing you the lights on Kohlmarkt - to the "Castle" I came from the other side on another day.
The "boring route", but here we are:

They have a nice...

... and it all looks...

Just...

Or...  do I? No. I am happy. And thankful. All I need.
Ingo is  - let me knock on wood, which is no problem as we have real wooden floors - healthy, Perth, Cabin, Adelaide, QANTAS, Indian Pacific, all booked!
Work, I think, safe. Colleagues great.
We have it warm in here, we have food and all.

Santa, I´m good, MORE than good!
If you collect wishes give mine to others (my Niece´s as well they don´t have any, either).

I love to see this, but I don´t need it, or... do I?
Why not have it all year round???
Isn´t every day worth to be celebrated?
Do we lose the value? I say: I would not! How about you? What if the weather was to your liking every day, would you still cherish it? I would.

But I admit, also... I hate when Summer leaves us. But over time I accept Autumn has nice colors. Come December we have Christmas-lights. And then... a very tough time. no lights, cold, nasty weather and then... SPRING!!! Yippeeeeee...

 Every day is a pressie!

Have A Spidery, Merry Christmas!

Thank you, dear Santa!!! To Tinsel and seeing the Good in so much!
Hi Charlotte, hope you have a great Christmas, too!
We keep all spiders here, too (in Germany they are harmless, if native).

(in our winter-underwear)
As you know, Santa is a very busy guy. So he comes to Germany already this Eve.
Which means our Advent-calendars end. Please let me show you what I got soon (Ingo got a cheapy at work  only!)

Today on to the cards.
I declare the next posts as Christmas-posts, what do you think?

Let´s start with the United States of America!!
(As you maybe know I love American Football but have never been there (yet)!)

This is from dear Kathy, thank you!!!

Mailman Ingo then came with this!

I think I bug you all a lot with my excitement of returning to Perth - after, thanks to COVID - five years!
Once, I only saw it on the internet, they had one passage covered with brollies for sun shade, so... I grinned so bright with joy, my face hurt!

This is from dear Bertiebo, from the Netherlands, and she even wrote in German!
Thank you so much, too!
Oh, we spent three Christmasses in Perth, hmmmm, so wonderfully warm with around 38+C / 100+F, it was plain so wonderful!
I remember one where we had no aircon, sat outside, I had a bucket of cold water to sprinkle my legs and Ingo had Cola with ice cubes and those passing by in the caravan park thought it was whiskey, LOL!

One of the only three cards I made and sent (it was busy here and I did this the first time in my life):

 I hope it arrived!

Then... last...

... certainly the Deutsche Bahn, we are a Daughter of!
To no surprise this was K´s idea in the first place, too!
Please wish me luck we arrive in time and safely in Frankfurt with "her" end of January!
Strikes are "common" these days...

Mailman Ingo came back in as really last (I think) with this note and key for neighbor´s mailbox whilst they´re on holiday:

 Such a cute card, too!

I hope they mean 07.01.24, as in January! Otherwise I have to organize for neighbor C to pick up both our mails when we are in Perth 🤣

Now, I think this is enough for one day, let me show you more tomorrow, OK?

Santa is all around Germany/Europe today, hope you have cookies, milk and carrots ready when you get the visit on 25th!
Have a wonderful Christmas, reckon you all have family over, enjoy!!

Henry 🦁

To love, good food, you (your company helped me through a lot!!) and peace 💙💛🎅

Funny Christmas!

Hi YUKON-BAY #I

This is certainly from Zoo Hanover still.
Ingo and I saw the beginning of this new area ages ago and now K and I could go!

Some you already saw, but let me show you the way, if you like.
For that you have to...

Here is but a sketch I turned into a Christmas card for a wolf-lover/owner that went to America and really arrived (it was a first and I only made 3 cards altogether cause... work was exhausting!):

The real ones I showed you already here and with them, sketched or real, I join Eileen´s Saturday Critters.

  Henry 🦁

Well, wait, Henry, there was sooooo much to see in the Yukon-area!
Let us share next Saturday, OK?

To all Critter-lovers and bloggers: Merry Christmas!

FFO, Smiles & Santa (?)

With this dreamy dino > dragon!!!! Of course, thank you River!!! I wish you a Merry Christmas and also join Nicole´s FFO.

And with this friendly "Santa" I hope to make you smile and join, well, Annie´s Smiles, of course!

I had a lot to smile and on Sunday I´ll show you a lot (#happy mail)!

Need some laughs? Here goes:

He mixed up duck and goose, though. I don´t like duck.

We share pressies not on fixed dates. One sees something the other might love and... pressie-time.
I prefer it that way.
Yet I hope your Santa will be less sarcastic as #1!

 Reckon I´ll watch. Last...

(Baby)
Henry 🦁

Don´t eat the cookies and carrots, Henry!
I´m out soon to get picked up and off to my company for a meeting (wish me luck all works that I get a workplace there!) and then... a Christmas-breakfast!
I work from home every day, but K convinced me to join so people get to know me in person.

Why I get picked up again? The weather is so.... (don´t sing!)... nasty, the Christmas market....

This really is a first in my life!
Ingo came home from grocery shopping - on foot - when suddenly... WIND, storm, actually, gushing rain, boy, was he lucky!
Hope your weather is more Christmassy!
