Easter shock - I do park my car

Eel - the word alone makes me shudder. 12 euros for it even more, but, ok, I bought it for Ingo. He had a big bite for brunch.

Some time later he said his belly hurts. I made some tea with caraway. Didn´t help. He couldn´t breathe properly.

We went to the hospital - emergency. They took him away from me, then told me they sent him to another one. Lucky me, I grabbed my car navi from home! Stupid thing sent me on the highway, off the highway and really complicated. I had to park my car. Me! Backwards!!! And I managed, will you believe that! When panic is around I can park my car. Good to know.

Oh, boy. His pancreas is inflamed and the eel may be the cause. Maybe a gallstone is involved as well.
Happy Easter that was.
He was in big pain, I was helpless and the staff frustrated cause they had to work on a public holiday. We waited and waited and I had to watch him suffer badly. I could do nothing.

They did computed tomography, x-ray, ultrasound. And we waited and waited and waited. By now I suppose he got morphine. Gosh. My Dad got that in his last days in his unsuccessful fight against cancer.

They put a catheter first in the hand, then in the neck, down direction heart. They did not explain well enough, I did not understand. His food supply will come intravenously. He asked for water all the time and actually he wasn´t allowed any. Since we were alone I gave him some.

The guys who did the "serious" catheter were really nice to me. Guess they saw I was nervous. They wanted to let me stay at first but then sent me out. Boy.

Time can crawl.

I dunno. Some (???) years ago Ingo wanted so badly to go to the German Bowl in American Football despite the fact that something in his neck/mouth did hurt. Next day, Sunday, we went to the dentist (10 euro), then to the ENT doctor (another 10 euro) and he said, man, that´s life-threatening, go to the hospital! His tonsils were badly inflamed. On a Sunday. Now he "chooses" Easter-Monday.

I should go to bed, but I can´t.
My heart races.
I packed some stuff to bring him tomorrow. I know he is safe.
This is the first time I am alone over night in this apartment. I know this is the stupidest thing ever, but I am kinda afraid. Of what? Dunno. I will have my night-light on like always. And still...

And will you believe this: I live in the easterly ring area. Right opposite of the Brunsviga, a cultural centre in town - this combination means no parking available after let´s say 8 p.m.

10 p.m. I came home - and I park opposite the kitchen window. I went in backwards. I had no damage on the car. Weird, plain weird (I saw myself cruising for at least 15 minutes! - I parked the car backwards! Me!!! Second time in one day!).

I am so not tired. I have to work tomorrow. "Witching hour" is just about to came.

And my ankle hurts badly from standing around all day.

But I parked the car!

And Ingo is safe.

All is good. Or so I thought....

Hope Ingo recovers well. And that you don't lose your new found parking skills.

You´re up early, huh?
Aw, well. I learned his grandmother an mother had the same issue.

And ACK. No. i took parking lots where I could park forwards. It´s a company car and I have to pay for every little scratch. Had my first accident ever last year - got -60 working hours on top of the budget last month.

but I´ll ask my "little" bro to teach me...

Hugs to you and Ingo. I hope he's feeling better real soon (and that you're feeling a little better too!)

Thank you Red Dirt Mummy - so far they still aren´t sure what the problem might be.
I found out his Grandmother suffered from an inflamed pancreas - for eight weeks (some 20 years ago) and his mother as well.

Holy Crap, Iris! What a shock to read this news. I can only imagine how you both are feeling right now.

Pancreatitis is hereditary as you already know, but I'm sure Ingo's doctor will be looking at other things that might be causing it. And I suspect some changes in diet and lifestyle will be forthcoming.

Thank goodness for morphine, eh? I had gallbladder attacks in the past (had my gallbladder out years ago) and all I can say is, morphine is the greatest.

I'll be keeping both of you in my thoughts. Is there anything I can do for either of you?

Willow, having your support like this helps, thank you for it! Sitting here all alone in the apartment, in the dark, knowing Ingo lying in hospital, not sitting next door feels strange. Stupid, I know.

My Mom thinks it´ll take longer than just one week in hospital.

Hereditary - does it mean you definitively have it or that you might get/have it? Darn dictionary gives both options...

Oh, and sorry to hear about your gallbladder - I hear that more often, too and learned that causes a lot of pain as well...

I pray Ingo makes a speedy recovery

OH my goodness Iris, so sorry to hear the bad news, luckily all seems ok but still not out of the woods hey?
I popped in today because I did not hear from you in a while, no wonder.
I hope Ingo is better soon, please send him our love and well wishes.

I am SO sorry I haven't stopped by before now!! Look what happens when I don't check in!! I'm so sorry he is so bad off, and you too, you poor thing. The panic, the not knowing - it's horrible. I'm send you positive, healthy, healing thoughts. But, now you can park backwards! Wait til Ingo hears!

Java, Wendy, thank you both, I´ll tell Ingo tomorrow!
And Wendy... no... ahhh. OK, it was a start to learn to park backwards again. A start.

When not in panic, I tend to use my brain, no really. And then it says - uhhhhh - careful! If you fail and get a scratch in the car... uhhhh, expensive!

But I´m on it!
