"Freezing Our Butts Off"
It´s been getting cold(er) again.
Living ground floor means not many stairs - in case of being sick and/or old a huge plus, but also: Cellar underneath, no one heats that, hence... brrr.
Pics still fom Monday, HA, think positive, no?! That green ornament shouts:
Plus... nice reflection of St. Andreas again, no?
What I do not understand...
Nah, that can´t be fun, can it?
But also this café offers seats and romantic candle light outside in 1C - maybe I´m just a whimp!!!!
That´s also why I put the title in quotation marks.
19C inside says the thermometer in 1,20m height (colder on the ground, thanks, cellar) and I´m whining I´m cold, heating up my microwave warmie stripey-tiger.
Can you imagine how that winter(s) post-war here must´ve been?
No/bad shelter, near to no food, near to no clothing, strong minus-temps.
So.Hard.To.Imagine.
My Dad´s family´s house was still standing, they shared with refugees.
But Mum and family were fleeing from East Prussia, Granma had to decide if part of the family goes on the Gustloff for operation Hannibal - the ship sank, none of my family was on it.
They waited for the next ship, accepting the fact that "the Russians" might get them. I found out only by chance, my family never talked about this.
Maybe understandably.
Anyhows. When I sped through the icky weather I passed an elderly man playing the guitar. Beautifully even, actually.
A 100m further on I was angry towards myself for not stopping and giving him money.
I promised myself to make a detour on my way back and if he´s still there I´ll give him a some.
Guess what.
In the icky weather he was still there!
It felt not good to openly take a pic of him, so I sneaked it from the side...
Maybe he would´ve been proud to get his pic taken, who knows, I´m still too shy.
But nice thing was:
The moment I went over a man joined in to give him a few bucks.
Picture it: Peeps passing by without noticing and at the same sec two guys from different directions step out.
The musician gave but a weary smile.
I should´ve walked to the bakery and bring him a hot cuppa, too, stupid me!!!
There´ll be a next time, right?

We also thought that surely spring was just around the corner when -- ach! -- we got new of yet another potential winter storm on the way.
We also lived on the ground floor (just 3 or 4 steps up) with the cellar underneath, so I remember how cold it could get! Poor you!
Nice that you went back to give that musician a few coins, that's sad that with that cold he would be playing outside...
Yes, more "tiny snowflakes" went down here, too, ach!, Revrunner...
Sami, really? 4 steps here, too. Yes, must be so cold, huh? If he´s there again today I get him some hot coffee... After.The.Dentist. Urgh...
Oh my gosh! Imagine busking in that weather!
Yes, my fingers would go numb!
