This - and it has nothing to to with my surname (or does it?) is one of my very fav fairy tales that followed Die Maus today.
The Emperor's New Clothes by Christian Andersen.
This emperor cares about his clothes - nothing else. His people suffer of hunger, but what the heck, as long as he feels special and pretty in his clothes, all is fine - right?
A clever ... guy weaver sneaks in and tells him he can create the best clothes EVER.
Only clever people can see them, too!!
The Emperor is doubtful at first but loves the idea of finding out who is dumb.
And many try.. . to not be dumb and say, "ohhhh, beautiful, outstanding!" when for real, on his Birthday, the Emperor steps out with but his undies and a wig on! (well, and shoes)
One simple girl yells, "hey, Emperor, but you are NAKED!!!"
Now... he realizes.
Just ... what? Does he beat his people up? What does he realize?
He realizes he was... dumb. Blinded by the light his wish for beauty.
And then... he FINDS beauty!!!
Inside!!!
Like everybody else... he...
He LAUGHS!
And in the end... we talk about a fairy tale here, right?
Come on, guess!
Yes! He marries the weaver and his helper, the beautiful girl, ... of course! Because he is a good guy who just needed to "wake up"!

William, yes, but this version is special. I love how he laughs!
I remember the fairy tale but he was truly naked, not even undies when I heard the story. I don't remember the part where he married the weaver's daughter or assistant.
River!!! LOL!!! That´s classified! Oh, gosh. I remember watching "Bad Boys" with Will Smith in Perth.
In Germany you watched - in Perth Beep -beep - beep all the time - and you see the Emperor truly naked?!
Wow.
I prefer his smile, his true beauty :-)
